I apologize this is such a long video. But this is a very complex topic, even then I am unsure if I nailed it. But I gave it my best shot. I hope this really helps everyone out there! Dazs I don't know about everybody else, but I honestly love the longer, high quality videos. I know the youtube algorithm hates them but the algorithm is what needs to change, not you :)
when I make my chair recliner straight uop, sp I seat like rally driver (right up against the wheel/mouse) I start to play loots better... But I cant play low sens,....I think I have 3,9@800dpi (I move my mouse for maybe 10 centimeters to make 180/mybe even 360) gotta check
One of the most important things to be honest, if not the most important. You can't be comfortable with your sens if you're not comfortable yourself or if your sitting position is constantly changing. For me I found this very frustrating at the start. I was either too upright or too reclined, or my chair was too high or too low or it was my desk being too high or too low. And then obviously all that changes how you sit, what kind of position feels comfortable for your arms, shoulders, neck, legs, back. And then it changes how your sensitivity feels more often than not. There's more to it than people think. And at some point you just find something you're happy with and then you adjust your sensitivity for that. Always go for comfort and something you can easily repeat over and over again rather than short term performance. Most people probably won't care but for those that get frustrated by feeling like they have to relearn how to aim and their sens feeling different every time they sit down, then it's the first thing to sort out.
I've changed my sens and DPI so many times I can't count. Eventually, after hundreds of hours in a game, you find a good range. For me, in Apex, that's 500 DPI at 2.5-2.7 sens. Like you mentioned in the video, there are SO many factors to take into consideration. Things like mousepads, skates, mice weight, grip style, posture, chair height, etc. It's a journey, but it's worth it when you start hitting shots and winning 1v1s that you thought you'd never even get close to nailing. It feels great to surprise yourself with your ability.
I'm on the same journey of finding the right DPI since I'm new to MnK. Constantly adjust my DPI from 400 -1200. 400 and my tracking is better than high DPI. 1200 DPI and my tracking goes to shit but my movement is much better. Ugh.
@@tiltedtoken1450 One thing I could suggest from personal experience is DPI stepping. Start at the lowest DPI you're comfortable with still hitting shots, and work your way slowly up. At lower sens, shakiness and nerves is mitigated a bit and you will feel "smooth". As you get better, slowly up your DPI/sens, step by step, week by week. Eventually you will land in a spot where your mouse feels like an extension of your eyes and you will autosnap to where you're looking.
All this parameters to consider when u can simply pick up a controller, use a medium sens and turn on auto aim and instantly have 2000 hours of mouse aim in a second.
Thank you so much this is such a good sensitivity breakdown, ive been using my new sensitivity to play VALORANT, from 0.44 to 0.35 and i have seen great improvements i went from a consistent 15- 20 kills per game to now 20-30 kills per game in ranked, if you haven't followed this video you haven't achieved peak gameplay.
i also realize that the size of your desk matter as well. might not be a problem for high budget gamers, but i think it's worth to notice for some low budget one as they always think that change to a more expensive gear could increase their skill multiple times. like, the bigger space you have to move your mouse, the bigger movement range you can achieve in game. this one i suggest for getting a bigger desk and larger mousepad.
Fantastic video. My ideal sens changed over time due to health reasons. When I was 145kg I used a very low sens and palm grip. As I've gotten healthier I've found I can use a higher sens and claw grip. The dimensions of my hands changed and was able to use mice in a completely new way now i'm down to 68kg. RJN is a chad and I agree with the mouse / hand dimensions
I’m currently playing at 1600 dpi, .550 in game at 120 fov with a hati s (god tier mouse if you don’t mind running a paracord) on an artisan hein mid. And that’s where I’m leaving it, I feel like I change so much so fast that I’ve gotten to the point where I’ve confused myself, I’ve switched sens 100s of times I have 20 different mouse pads at different textures, I have 10 different mice that I’ve played with, it’s a lot. fine tuning is fine, but I’d say if something feels ok, play with if for atleast a month before you change it. I’ve found recently that I’ve changed from high sens to low sens and everything between so much that my muscle memory will get lost when I’m flicking, I’ll under shoot then overshoot then hit then way overshoot etc.
This REALLY IS AN AIM BIBLE!!! I've been juggling different mouses and sensitivities (even trying same Edpi but different dpis with ingame senses) to see if I can improve my aim and all of the granular detail you gave in the video is SO helpful to find a perfect sens! Thanks for the video! you just got a sub and a like! Please keep the aim training videos coming!!!
I really love these videos you put out Dasz. As someone that came from ps4 to PC not so long ago and not having any idea what I was doing, coming across your channel and watching your guides are truly invaluable
i find a lot of pros and other people including me find that sweet spot at around 1600dpi 0.6 sens. Or 2.4 400dpi. It really feels like a perfect sens.
To me there is also the mind variable, some times you are feeling full of energy and focus wich changes your aim too, another thing is confidence too. There is so much to consider that I can't reach a certain mouse config and just keep changing every now and then. People seem to really like the idea of a sweet spot but I can't seem to find it, I've played from 70cm/360 to 15cm, used palm and fingertip grips too... I hope I can reach a conclusion some day. Nice video :D
This video is a very good breakdown of all the different variables that affect how a sensitivity feels. Really enjoyed the analysis on all of them. Especially loved the comparison of evolved grips to Pokémon. Haha
Awesome video! Really appreciate the tips. I've realized I'm a wrist aimer that may try lower sensitivities for a bit. Tracking is my biggest weakness.
Hey Dazs, great video on this topic. I switched over to Mouse and Keyboard a while back and never really thought about all the little things that go into really being able to aim well and comfortably. Since finding your videos and those of several others, I've gone from a really high sensitivity that I couldn't control (somewhere near "default") to a lower sensitivity that I can more reliably track and flick with (800DPI, 1.3 in-game sens in Apex). Also, I got a large mousepad, a better mouse and an arm sleeve (which REALLY helps in the crazy humid weather I'm in). I want to thank you for spending so much time and effort on this. Oh, and as a side-note, I ran into your squad in Pubs a couple months ago and got absolutely clobbered LOL
Well, I think I lagged behind my team and suddenly your buddy playing as Wattson beamed me with an R-99 from around a corner. Oh, I forgot something else important: I changed my mousegrip to claw (was using palm) and micro-adjusting became SO much easier. Point being, another reason to thank you (and Rocket Jump Ninja, I think). You deserve the 100K subs and hopefully much more in the future!
Thx Dazs, you are the best aim-content creator on the tube. I have followed you for a long time and you have helped me in a big way with my aim, moves, positions, tactical decisions and setting. You just cover it all. You litterly convert me from mmorpg to fps player wich i allways wanted but its not fun when you have a bad aim and everything els. Now day i realy enjoin fps games. Keep up the good work. Thank you🙂
Thank you so much for this video Dazs! This is why I'm subbed to you :) While I haven't gone through this process to find my perfect sense yet, I absolutely will be doing so in the future. However your explanation revealed a key thing I'm doing wrong in my aim trainer and a few days after fixing the mistake I'm actually starting to feel a lot better about my aim! I'm using the exact same routines I was before but instead of going for a combination of accuracy and score, I'm giving myself much less leniency on the accuracy. I'm focused exclusively on accuracy in my tracking scenario and I'm only focusing on score in my clicking scenario under the restriction that I must hit 100% accuracy (since the targets don't move in the scenario there's no excuse to not hit 100%). Just yesterday I managed to get an 80% accuracy on my tracking scenario for the first time. I'm already starting to feel more comfortable with my aim in game and actually hitting my pk for 80s and 90s when I hit nothing but 9s and 11s before :O
I personally use 400DPI 1.3 (80+cm) But that's because the first mousepad I ever bought was an extended pad and naturally aimed by putting my whole arm on the table. At first 1.8 then progressively lower felt more comfortable. You really don't know what you might like unless you experiment
I did the same, kept on going lower and lower. I think I started at around 1.8 @ 800, lowered it to 1.5 and then ended up at 0.9 and 1 after going through them all. I've gone back up to 1.5 now. I can't be bothered to turn my whole arm into a windmill every time I turn around anymore, and it can be tiring on the arm and shoulder. Still though, nice beams at range... I just use fingertip grip now for much finer aiming.
found you recently about a week or so before i set up my PC i'm originally a 60 fps TV controller player, so switching to PC was completely new to me i already have good recoil control and aim, but my tracking wasn't the best i've been using a 3.7 sense on a whole foot of mouse pad space (i'll manage to have more mouse space in the future when my computer desk drops), and i've noticed that my aim was stuttery when it came to micro movement i didn't know if that was because my grip was "wrong", or maybe it was because of the mousepad so i tried doing a low sense, but my arm felt tense and i didn't like the feel of it thanks to you, i have a sense of direction as to what i should change to find out that sweetspot of what my sense should be, along with tips to help adjust to that change you're officially my go-to guy to watch if i ever need help in improving my aim or tips on anything relating to improvements in gaming! like that one eye-adjusting training in the Apex Firing range (found it really helpful by the way) i personally enjoyed this video and i didn't really care it was long since the time allowed you to go in-depth with the topics you wanted to bring into light in other words, this video was both informative and helpful! so once again, thank you Dazs!
Great video i love how you actually go into discovering tiny adjustments that work for you. I used to have a claw grip with the mouse at a similar angle to yours like 45 degree to the right with a low thumb possition but i found it was one of my worst habbits simce it meant that the right hand side of my wrist was always more tense and i had way more range of motion to the left than i did to the right. I noticed it caused some tendencies such as using wrist a lot more with left movements and using the arm more with righ movements and the extra tension meant specifically with micro movements and long range tracking the extra tension in my wrist would cause me to sometimes produce jumpy movements. I assume this would be way less of an issue for you since you fingertip but i bet if you focused on it you would notice some similar tendencies. Interestingly i have now switched to a fingertip but i have kept the more neutral wrist possition with the mouse angled slightly to the left and based on what you talked about in this video i think i use the thumb way more than you do and the ring and pinky way less. I also have a more clawed fingertip grip as its more comfortable for me and i like the faster clicks and more responsive Vertical mouse movements (with fingers) Its always interesting to see what people use and adapt to and how they make it work for them.
@@Dazs okay yeah we gotta talk lol how do you handle that 2x speed or it is literally something i have to get use to ? My dpi 950 and in game sens 1.1 just for info apex is literally my first fps game as well as keyboard and mouse ☺️
What an amazing video! You ran through it ALL. THANK YOU. Is there a way to have any software test your bevaviour and tinker all those variables for you?
I went from a high sensitivity in bf4 to a low sensitivity in apex 2 in game at 400 dpi 110 fov the main thing I noticed was how much longer I can play and comfortable I feel at the lower settings
250 hours is really impressive, I have been trying to find mine for 2 and a half years of playing various games now, I might not even find my perfetc sens ever, cause I have a larger spectrum of comfortable-ish senses
will also add that cardio helps reaction time if you dont really exercise much, managed like a 20ms faster vrt after cardio pretty consistently so another benefit of exercise
Great video dude! So, to convert my sens to another shooter, the 360/cm method is the best or convert based on FOV is better ? I've notice difference between these 2 methods and i wanna know your thoughts
On grip style: I noticed that I was using a combination grip of both claw and my palm was catching and stuttering my aim. I shit you not I went from 70,000 in aimlabs circle track to 80,000 just by lifting my palm up slightly.
i remember before my chair became fucked and the back support properly worked i was able to hit all of my shots and was at the top of the leaderboard in almost all of my matches in krunker and cod, after my chair has gone to shit (I'm getting a new one in the next few weeks) i haven't been that comfortable since my back has been hurting and since i have scoliosis its even worse for me and because of my discomfort i haven't been able to hit many shots at all. i can still get some good clips here and there but overall my accuracy sucks because I'm not sitting very upright like i used to.
Long video but agree with what you said and appreciate the time you put into it , what do you think about making your hip and ads sensitivity the same so that you can build better muscle memory? (For cod/ battlefield titles)
You're the first person I've seen holding the mouse similar to me (although I have a more claw shape). I don't understand how people find it comfortable having their ring finger on the side of the mouse.
I really enjoy 20cm/360 but I normally play on 40cm/360. I play valorant for a team and I really enjoy fast paced games so I want to switch to 20cm/360 but I'm not sure how well I'd do in valorant with it but I imagine I can get good with it with enough practice.
My current setup is DPI set to 1000. Polling rate at 1000 and in game sense at 2.2. But my scope multiplier is different per scope. So I can be accurate regardless of scope settings. I used to set it to 800 but set my polling rate down to 500 instead of 1000. And increase in game sense to 2.4-2.6. And also apply some scope settings. Maybe I'll try Timmy's settings and see how it goes too. I'm still looking for that just right settings.
my 4,1 at 800dpi I do 360 in 15 maybe 20 centimeters... Anything less and I cant "track/follow " opponents close range, when they jump etc all over the place
This is the tru way to find your sens. As these all depend. I used to play on high dpi 1000 in csgo with sens 2.xx now i play at 400dpi and i cant go back to 1000dpi. Plus i used to play on a desk without mousepad. Now i have a cloth mousepad which has alot of difference.
I'm new to MnK. Still fine tuning everything. My worst habit is whenever I take a break from Apex and come back my aim feels really slow or to fast. I'll adjust the DPI and sensitivity according. Haven't stuck with a DPI for months :(
Great video bro! After a lot of testing I selected the ducky feather and MP510 mousepad as my mains and I’m currently trying to find my that perfect sens and this definitely will help me! Keep that awesome content bro and RJN will see eventually (maybe throw a bit of quake into your videos lol)
Sit up straight, Keep your elbows even with your forearms not below (science) , keep your monitor centered and at a comfortable height and distance. Lastly stop looking at youtube to figure out how you should sit in your chair and set things up , its your body you know when you're being a slouch or if you cannot see well enough. There is your guide.
The biggest issue I’ve noticed personally is how I feel like holding down right click mouse for ads makes me tense up and move mouse inefficiently do you have any tips for that?
i used to practice in aimlab for apex but then i realised that its kinda pointless cause in aimlab you practice hipfire but in apex , most of the times you use ads which has lower sensitivity. another problem in apex is that pistols, shotguns and smgs have higher ads sensitivity compared to ars and snipers when using iron sights. But then the sensitivity changes again if you put a 1x optic on an ar , then the ar gets the higher, pistol smg shotgun sensitivity which is fucked up! you didnt know that? test it in firing range!
Hey Dazs, love all of your aiming and improvement videos. One problem I keep running into when I watch your aim/sensitivity related videos is that I'm *almost* certain that I need to drop my sensitivity by a somewhat notable amount but I get motion sick very very easily. I already get motion sick while doing aim training for more than 15-20 minutes pretty often. Any time I change my sensitivity (maybe any more than 100 dpi) I can get motion sick almost instantly. Do you have any suggestions/tips for this? I suppose I could just lower it in sets of 50 dpi but its hard when It takes me a while to adjust and practice when I 'll max out around 15 min everyday. Extra note: I've managed to (over a while) bring my dpi down to 2800 from 3250, but its pretty annoying.
I do like Aim Labs, but it's just soooooo big. I only got a 240Gb SSD, I can have like Apex and Aim Labs on it, then nothing else. As in not even OBS for streaming or gIMP or ReBelle for artwork. And Aim Labs is the one taking most of that space. It feels like for what we get, it should be way more optimized and take much less space than that.
@@Dazs first of all, i believe that with this help and these means we all will find our sens! Secondly, don't mind my English:D and while watching half of ur vid I'm so happy ab it. KEEP GOING MY RU-vid FRIEND.
Most important is indeed personal preference, but i like what you said about the sens in combination with peripherals part, thats very comprehensive and easiest to learn (ex. low sens, fast mousepad) but im a weirdo in this case, i play 3 sens @ 700dpi with the model o- mouse on glass mp, so still personal preference is most important!
You have improved through the years, just know that. The subject of sensitivity is a difficult one for sure. Even the day and our mood or motivation can impact our skill aiming.
@@Dazs Mindset and mood is often very overlooked, but for me personally it's the main reason why I underperform. If you ever feel like some days you just can't hit anything or your game just feels kinda "off", I found that getting some exercise is the best remedy. Doesn't have to be anything insane, a 20- 30 minute walk can be enough.
One thing that I can't figure out is how much pressure I should apply to my grip. Do you keep the tension light at all times or does it vary depending on the situation?
A tense grip on your mouse will negatively affect accuracy and mouse movement specifically. You all seriously put WAY to much thought into this, its simple..... don't death grip your mouse , let it move fluidly. Don't have a ridiculously high sens , lower sens is .. in almost every case better for you. And in every case possible, Practice..when you think you're good at aiming practice more. There is no magical solution that will make you good, it's practice. Identify the areas you fail at , over shooting , under shooting , tracking etc and work on correcting that. Simply put , you will NEVER get better at aiming if you don't know know the portions of aiming that you suck at personally. Apex in particular is not a hitscan game , Knowing the difference will affect how you shoot ...where you aim etc.
Go low until you feel what is comfortable. If you can maintain speed, then keep trying until you see it’s not working. Do the same for speeding things up. Remember you will have a spectrum of aim where you feel comfortable.
Its just hard for me as a Wrist Aimer to be confident at one Sens. Csgo being no Problem at all , it feels 1:1 but for example to Valorant it feels more confusing to have a higher sens and I just go for 400dpi 0.6 sens. Seems realy slow for only Wrist aiming but the one taps are good. If I go to high I just lost 70% of my Duels. I'm so confused about this Game same goes to Aimlab , i never felt like Csgo aim for me. That makes Training harder for me.
