In this video we look at how the third power formula for electrical circuits can be found. We do this by combining our basic power formula with Ohm's Law. We then prove that this is the case by looking at a practical experiment using some values from a previous video.

With an inductive load do you factor into the formula the power factor? What value would you use as the pf?

Joe , why have use of the other power formula why not just stick with P=IxR

Hi Paul, great question. You could for example use the formula in this video to figure out how much power a resistor would dissipate in a circuit without calculating the current first. It saves one step in the calculation. Stay tuned for more!
