Damn dude, this is the most raw and honest exposition from you I've ever heard, and that's saying a lot because I've been a subscriber who has valued your words for awhile now. I can so relate to your inner process as it matches my own. And when I look at what you have achieved, it gives me hope. I am inspired anew. Thank you so much.
@UnixGuy: I just wanted to tell you to thank you for your videos, work, and attitude, as I am looking to switch to my first cyber security job - I have been in IT for 12 years - and your videos kept me sane, there is so much nonsense in the Security "bubble". May God bless you!
Thank you so much for your kind words, I really appreciate your support! yes I totally agree, there is so much BS in the security bubble, that was one of the reasons that compelled me to make my videos
Thanks sir. I'm following your roadmap to get into cyber security. I'm currently half way through the Google security certification. I started 3 weeks ago. I am truly appreciative of your advice and videos.
Thank you so much for your advice...this is happening to me right now but the cause is that I get it too intense on myself and I want to rush everything to finish on time and sometimes make me feel very tired.. You really describe my actual situation when I miss a day of studying feel like I'm failed. I am almost done and I wish you dropped that video earlier but very grateful you do.... Blessings on you!
I am so glad you made this video. It describes me so well. I get easily distracted when I challenge myself with a hard topic, I experience a high level of distraction which I could not understand until now. I am studying for my CySA certification exam and I am going to apply the "Time Block" you described in this video. Thank you very much.
Anyone got any suggestions of what to do after I make a virtual home lab. I have no experience or knowledge, so would you recommend that I complete some certifications before I move onto experimenting with the lab?
I recommend you watch my videos, I have roadmaps for certifications thar all have labs built in / you don’t need to build a lab. Start here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6LIUhx95MCU.htmlsi=QKrQeZ_FQfcHgXAB
Hi Unix guy, first of all congratulations 110k I'm beyond happy for you keep it up mate, I have a question, I'm 24 years old living in Melbourne Australia, I come Australia 2021 I finished school back my home country for that reason I'm having hard time to get enrolled for a degree in tech, Only reason I want to do a degree is landing a job, What do you recommend for me atm I'm doing google cybersecurity course, I'm really lost I don't know what to do, A lot of people's n videos on RU-vid saying it kinda really hard to land a job with no degree so at end of the day I don't want do a lot of cert and can't land job it will be waste of time and money, Please give a an advised, Thank you,
Is the age matter to enter the field of cyber security i heard from many people that in programming field the age matter and after the age of 30 is very hard to find a job in a company I'm now 31 and i started to learn about cyber security but I'm afraid that after learning i will face problems to find a job because I'm older then others is this exist in the field of cyber security is the age really matter to find a job and i hope to know from you which specialist in cyber security field in which the age don't matter from your experience I'm interested in cloud security but when I heard about the age problem in the field of programming i wonder is that the case also for cyber security thank you
Hey UnixGuy, quick question brother, I'm considering my options for Cybersecurity specialisations, just wondering, do Ethical Hackers have to at all lie to do their job? For example would I have too tell the company I'm working for, a lie, like make up stuff so I get vital information, so for example I say to them I'm from another company (when I'm actually not) to gain important information when testing their defences? I'm a Christian so I can't lie, would this affect me being a Ethical Hacker at all?
hey mate, no we don’t lie, if anything, you need a strong moral compass and ethics. What you attempted to described is referred to as ‘social engineering’ and we don’t do it randomly. We sign a contract that the company asks for, so we’re not lying, we’re testing the strength of the defences of a company to defend them against bad actors.
@@UnixGuy thankyou heaps brother, Im thinking of becoming a ethical hacker and I already have a strong moral compass because of the Bible, so I'm glad you said that, is social engineering common for Ethical Hackers to do? Or can I just specialise in the other things instead? I probably will stay away from social engineering If I were to become a Ethical Hacker is social engineering mandatory or can I avoid it and still find work still?
It's not mandatory, but it's also not unethical. You can educate people about social engineering, you dont necessarily have to do it. Follow this roadma: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8K7iAJ9BNl0.htmlsi=bpMFvTCFt0jZkmMl@@preparationoftheelect2023
i have a question for you and you can only answer it so see the AI is making things really good and in future AI will be as strong as it can be to make an app an website and all other things so if AI will make all things kind of perfect so what is the need of an cyber security expert to get into it so what will be work of us just a fool question but one day AI will make things perfect yeah it will take time to do it but i need you to answer in your way sir 😊
Sir i am like you, I lacked interest in studying until my FSC, I used to be the dumpest kid in my class, often distracted. However, upon entering university, I discovered a newfound passion for cybersec and IT. Now, I am self-learning and will get success soon.
I really need help with this. Im not even supposed to be on RU-vid right now, lmao . I need help with it and help with studying to get better at taking exams, im great with hands on work, but exams are my weakness
Was waiting for a video thank you, i don't know how you tell all things exactly what I'm feeling also, today I got to know this is normal among humans too feel like that, even when I study if some topic is not going through my brain Im being distracted and started spending more time on useless things 😂
I'm in a place where I had to decide to leave cybersecurity for later and start studying something short (just commerce and business school) and that will give me more chances to get out quicker of my current shi**tty job (especially the company) and start a stable and better one. It's just 3 semesters (I'm close to finishing the 1st) while I'm working full time. So it's stressful right now and I don't have time for anything else than working and studying. When I'm finally in a better place then I'll keep looking into cybersecurity as a hobby, at least for first. Still loving your channel though, thanks a lot for the content. Hugs from Switzerland🇨🇭
it’s good to hear back from you again, I thought you stopped watching 😜 that’s fair, and now im also learning as a hobby! you never know, your hobby might turn into a nice high paying job! keep me posted 🤝
@@UnixGuy haha I'm here just with no time for life😂 but have the bell on for your videos even if I don't watch them all right now. Have you been to Europe yet btw?☺️ (I usually reply late because I don't receive notifications for replies)
Thank you for this hack. For the past 3days have been using it and i have never beem more productive. Please can you make a vidoe on roadmap to become a Devsecops. Thank you
glad to hear that, keep it up!!! Yes, devsecops roadmap is here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-shgKU-zjOmw.html mix of automation and appsec
thankyou so much for sharing. had been feeling distracted and although i knew the part that it was my brain trying to run from things that are difficult i still couldn't get it to stick with difficult tasks for a long time and would bash myself say all sort of hatefull things but i have been trying to change that language because this led to me getting more depressed and less motivated and ultimately not feeling to study at all. just knowing the fact that many people face this issue and then after overcoming become great mentors like you, motivates me thankyou so much.
Computer operater or data entery job to which one you will give more attention in IT entery level job to get 2 years of experience for the purpose to be an penetration tester have dream job
Really great advice, I definitely struggle with having a negative dialogue towards myself. Even when I put in a couple hours of hard studying I still feel frustrated with myself like I am not doing enough. I think this may stem from me career changing and comparing myself to my peers who are farther along in their journey. Definitely something I need to be more self aware of and work on. Also in regards to staying focused for long periods I found adding in some sort of physical exercise can refocus my mind. When I find myself getting distracted I’ll knock out a set of pull ups or push ups and I am usually much more focused after.
This is so funny! I have literally just discovered this about 6 months ago and have learned a lot with no butnout. I've been working hard labor for 8-12 hours come home study for 4 hours then decompress and shower before bed funny you make a video about it being your strategy too!
I think, it was a helpful video. Thank you very much for telling such non sugarcoated truth about our mind. Hope to get more videos about your journey to be more focused and productive.
Very true, the inner zombie is a rough and tough gate keeper to solving hard ctfs and learning new things. It takes a lot of kjoules to beat it. Thanks again Mr Unix guy❤
Its nice to know I’m not alone. The honest truth: i seek distractions instead of working on my certification because I fear failing and seeing myself as a fraud.
Hey bro, again thanks for this video. But the question I going to ask is not related to this. So the question is I want to become an Auditor or I can say start from GRC so my question is should I give my time to solve rooms/labs on Try Hack Me or HTB or instead of that try learning more about compliance and standards? I mean I am confused what to do? Again Thank You. :)
The superpower is actually called mindfulness, where you break down your thought processes so you can understand them and deal with them. That's one way of fighting procrastination, and good luck to anyone who's experiencing it 😁👍
Hi im from Morocco do i have a chance to get a remote tech job (a help desk one)i already have some CCNA certifications ,if its a yes can suggest somme companies, i will learn more and get other certifications i hope i can get an anwser cus it will help alot , thank you
I love your channel..really..I get so much value from it, but please...all the little sound effects are too much (imho)..usually because they're way louder than your narration so it's tough to adjust to the right volume if listening on ear pods...just my 2 cents and no disrespect intended at all..
I saw this video title when you upload it and I said to my self this is going to be the solution that will benefits me a lot. I planed to watch it after studying, but I forgot that you were the owner of this video. I searched about the topic in all around the YT videos. I found nothing, so at that time, I just felt something that I lost something like a money for others or life for me. When I start to organize my priorities on tasks and try to achive the state of having a great schedual every day & not being distracted by rediculas things. I just found this video again on "Break time VID" like I titled in my browser that day when I saw it lol. really appreciate it UnixGuy
@@UnixGuy Sorry if that wasn't clear enough. I still try to improve my writing in engliah. 😂😅 In case of the "break time vid" it's this video, I just taged it on my brave browser tab. I did it with that name to organize my priorities what to watch and in which state.😊 I don't like to have too much of these tages(tabs) I just decide to have 2 of them different colours on different tasks . Fun & informative video and then the course video I want to watch next to each others. Other tab will be like a candy or a reward if we say so. Finishing this task and you will get this reward next to it etc. obviously I didn't reward my self that day😂 I Just mentioned this to tell how entertaining and informative your videos are for me and for others ofc. Really huge thanks to you and please keep going with these kind of videos they help a lot, along with our journey. Thanks again my brother🤍
Unix Guy Could you please answer my question? I got an offer from Australia University to attend Cybersecurity. Should I take it? I mean should I spend 3years and money in it? Rather than certifications, that bachelor is it effective in the field. My goal is to be CISO and at the same time I wannabe a cybersecurity consultant. Thank you.
Honestly, my major is Electronic engineering, because of my country’s situation, I can’t go to university soooo I ask you. I am trying your road map and I wanna say thank you for your sharing and effort.
i don’t know your family or country situation so I can’t really give you random blanket advice. Degrees in Australia are very expensive, but if you just finished high school and you’re not sure what to do then yeah a degree is fine. If you want to change careers then follow my roadmaps, you do not need a degree to do so
Thank you for this video. This has been my major challenge. I wanna become a professional ethical hacker. But i'm constantly distracted with too many things to do. I always find myself leaving courses uncompleted. After watching this video, I'm making an effort to delete all social media app on my phone and focus.
The problem with me is my job has unpredictable schedules and because of that I’m all over the place mentally and it makes it very hard to schedule anything or have a life. What do you suggest?
congrats! you have many options! this is the ones that I recommend: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KvCcbF8DROQ.html it will challenge you and test you but you will learn a lot :)
I don’t have capacity to do one on one mentorships, you’ll find most of the information that you need in the videos (please watch them) and if you still require further help then I have a paid mentorship call (link in the about section of this youtube channel) 🙂
