Are you adamant that you know what number your combination lock was set to but it's just not opening on the number?
This video will show you how to find your combination lock number.
Since TSA locks were released we came to realise that sometimes when TSA use the key to open your lock it sometimes moves the first or last dial of your lock. When TSA turn the key it resets the lock a few numbers from what it was set to.
INSTRUCTIONS
BEFORE YOU START
In this example we will use the numbers '123' as our lock number.
Try to open your lock using '000' before you do anything else.
Breath in and breath out , Breath in and breath out , Breath in and breath out. Now you can start.
1. Turn the dials on your lock to the number you know you had your lock set to. 123
2. Turn the last dial only and after each turn press the button that opens the lock. 124 press, 125 press, 126 press . Do this until you are back to 123 or unless your lock opens.
3. If your lock hasn't opened then turn your dials back to the number you know your lock was set to. 123
4. Turn the first dial only and after each turn press the button that opens your lock. 223 press, 323 press , 423 press . Do this until you are back to your numbers ( 123 ) or if your lock opens.
Congratulations ! if your lock opened.
Sorry if your lock didn't open. Below are some more tips to help you .
TIPS
1. Always open the lock on your case before you leave the airport. If your lock doesn't open approach a TSA officer and ask then to open your lock using their TSA keys.
2. If you have arrived at your hotel and your lock hasn't opened using this method then try calling the concierge. One of their team members may know how to pick your lock.
3. If both of the above don't work for you , search the closest locksmith and they may be able to open the lock for you.
4. Search to closest luggage repairer to where you are located.
5. If all else fails find a butter knife! Gently wedge the butter knife in between where the handle on the runner is joined to the runner ( the runner is the metal piece that slides along the zip teeth ) . Try and open it enough to get out the runner handle. If you break the metal it's ok you can always go to the local grocery store and buy some plastic wrap to wrap the case with to get back home.
6. Try opening the lock on '000'. Sometimes if TSA have realised they have moved the dials they may have reset the lock to 000.
