I really love vintage style but i'm in high school and I'm 13 years old. I feel like I can't be myself because there will always be people in school who will laugh at me and bully me because I am not like them.
honestly, I was the same way in high school. I practically wore Halloween costumes. But now years later people still recognize me and usually its in a good way, not a bad one. when you don't care what people thing, you earn a certain respect.
Do not care about that so much. I am fat and I have tight dresses and wide flared skirts because I like the way they look. If you feel confident in it you can pull those off and no one is going to judge you. Besides, if you have no waist, a high-waisted a-line skirt out of denim (of any material that is more stiff) can create a more sandhour-shape. Trying is actually the key. You could wear the shape in a monochrome colour and wear a statement necklace with it. That gives the eye another point to look at.
This is so true! I find when choosing close its great to have a colour palette for your wardrobe like you do. . So I only shop black, white, grey, khaki, and skin tone. Every morning, life is a lot easier because I know everything I grab in my wardrobe can coordinate with the other. Life is so much easier to shop too! Not in my colour palette, I'm not buying it. :)
That is true. Mine are black, white, navy and some grey or red pieces. And I have one forest green dress. It makes it so much easier to mix and match. If you enjoy khaki and nude colours, try off-white istead of clean white, it matches better with warm colours.
Where i live, many people dont tend to dress up. They mostly pull on a shirt some pants and that's it. So it feels a little weird when others wear a lot
Your closet is like my dream! I want to transition my wardrobe because I do feel like the best version of me in all black, but it does get a little difficult with everyone telling you to "add more color" all the time. But you're right! If I more comfortable this way, there's no reason I shouldn't be able to do that. :)
Wow this is actually the best fashion advice I've heard. Usually the articles I read give a list of types of fashion styles to follow. Never did they mention to find what you feel best in
I know this video is rather old, but I just watched it and I can't agree more that you have to find out what looks best on your body type. There are so many clothing items I find beautiful, but I just know they won't look good on me, so I don't even get myself in a position where I try it on, just to feel horrible about myself. In the past year I learned what looks good on me and I never would have thought that some of the items, i.e. crop tops would look good on me, but they do. I think it has a lot to do with trial & error to find your personal style and this video made me realize that I've only found "my style" around last year. Thanks for this video, it's great!
The best of your tips, is to stop worrying about what others think. I used to wear a lot of bright colours just because one of my friends keep saying that I could NOT wear black all the time..But! Now I don't care, and I have more confidence in myself. I love my neutrals and blacks. Love you!! You are such an inspiration
I love to wear the color black it looks really good with my hair and makes me feel really confident but whenever I wear black my mom always judges me and tells me to stop following my emo friends...😔
I love neutrals! Im actually happy you don't use a lot of color because your outfits are ALWAYS on point. Such a great inspiration for someone who only wears black and grey!
Thanks so much Carly!! I'm a neutral loving lady! Sometimes I feel weird for always reaching for black pants or dark jeans with a grey shirt/pullover/sweater, but that's what I feel the best in! I always reach for that outfit style and have to force myself to wear other things in my closet, but then I don't feel great throughout the day. I don't feel 100% myself when I'm wearing those forced outfits, so it's awesome to hear your perspective on it :) thanks again!
Today I'm putting all my clothes in storage and only leaving a capsule wardrobe. About an hour ago I was thinking "I've got to figure out my personal style and work around that" so I can decide what stays and what goes. I checked instagram and noticed you'd made this video, so timely! Denim short shorts are the bane of my existence. Every single summer I buy a pair and then feel self conscious and miserable whenever I wear them. So no excuse, in the bin they go. I always wished I could look cute and grungey in denim shorts and a baggy tee shirt. But I feel uncomfortable whenever I try. Time to accept I look and feel best in more fitted, feminine clothes and stop cluttering my wardrobe with other things. Thank you!
Hi Carly, I just wanted you to know that this really supported me. Due to my beliefs I often feel disconnected from fashion but it doesn't feel good. I want to be able to dress within my religious dress code but still FEEL good. This really helped give me a guideline, especially after being sick for the last year, I'm looking forward to creating a style unique to me ♡♡♡
My wardrobe is 90% black clothes and I have been crap for it since high school. As a minimalist who has a mostly black wardrobe, I have truly learn to give less fucks. I love getting up and looking put together everyday. I agree with everything you said! Thanks for the reminder! Definitely going to share this video with my friends ❤️
Great video! Back in the day, I worked for Revlon and wore black, beige and gray. Now that I'm in my 70s, when I don't know what color to wear, I wear them all! LOL! Thanks so much for sharing.
This helped me a lot because I wore chokers for some days of school and my friend said stop wearing chokers and I stoped so this helped me get that back I am truly thank you your a hero
I love neutral colors too... well shades I guess you can say. I feel my best when I wear my black clothing and it is hard when my family says I need to stop wearing so much black or all black clothing pieces. To be honest, I just can't get enough of black clothing items... I'm so in love with them.
I agree with the whole feeling confident in certain pieces but I feel like as a stylist you need to be ale to work with different colours, shapes and silhouettes even though it might not be your personal favourite. Not saying you do that.
Best fashion youtube channel ever! I love how confident and passionate you are towards fashion, really shines through! Keep up the great work. Kisses from Brazil :)
Loved this! I feel like for Jr high and highschool this should be a mandatory with entrance thingy they have to watch. Even after that age range it's a nice refreshing thing to hear that it's ok to wear what makes you comfortable and not stress over what another group thinks of you.
So helpful! I sometimes catch myself wondering why I'm wearing things I don't love all that much when I have certain pieces that I feel so confident in.
I've tried pretty much every colour; green, pink, yellow, red, khaki. However I finally just came down to it that I just love grey and navy, I love it and I shouldn't worry that I'm not as colourful as you're apparently meant to be.
I absolutely loved this video Carly! You're goals and this video spoke so much to me. Can't wait to see all of the (more) amazing things you accomplish! You're genuine and are going to go far in life!
You're my favorite! you're so logical and organized in your videos that we instantly understand what you're talking about. Keep up the great work n I dont understand how you dont have a million subscriber already lol you deserve it
My *aesthetic* is overalls, rompers, sweaters, and soft colors. Also my favorite outfit is this really comfortable big sleeve sweater with short overalls.
This video seriously helped me a lot because school is starting again for me and I wanted to do something different with my style and this made me realize that it's ok to wear gray black white and blue all the time even if other tell me to change it up that's what I feel most comfortable in so thank you
Loved it Carly girl. I look forward to Thursday's. How sad am I?! Love your style, but most importantly, I love what you stand for. Be yourself and own that shit! Love ya xx
thank you, i love fashion but i dont really care about how i look because im usually to busy but id love to have more confidence in how i look and this really helped me with my style
Love this-- it's so true, I used to think maybe I shouldn't just go for skinny jeans or leggings because others like bootcut or straight leg, but good lord I HATE bootcut on me and I always feel so weird in them! Haha you should always dress for your best self, even if it's your best feeling casual wear- and the way you presented that makes sense 😉
Omg Carly you and me both love the same wardrobe colour choices . And I guess Chris Jenner as well ! Lol I think these colours suit me best and I feel confident and comfortable in these colours . I love colour but only when I go to the beach in the summer. I might add a pop of coral and turquoise in the summer months. If I want colour I wear a bright lipstick . Good advice Carly👍🏻
i get the ''you have dark skin you should wear more colors" a lot and I actually started wearing bright colors for a while and now i'm gradually switching to black again and i feel like i'm gaining more confidence when waering the things i want even if people dont like it
Nails- on point. Lips- on point. Hair- on point. Video- on point. Also I'm seriously jealous of your awesome "closet" (I know it's in your room and really not a "closet") snapchat fam!
Carly, something just popped into my mind.. Do you still hang out with Hanh? I remember finding your channel after watching one of her videos with you in it!
