Lots of big dudes in my gym.. Even when I'm 6'1" 230lb these guys can cause issues for me. I guess I got used to getting away with bad form on smaller 180lb fellas, but couldn't get it to work on the heavies.. Back to basics. Thanks Chewy!

Martial Arts are so unforgiving. I used to believe I was strong and powerful but then I joined Jiu Jitsu, I got pretty good, had a few fights (3) all on video, lost all of them(first 2 were weird. 1. DQ for a 12-6 elbow to the back in a fight I was winning 2. Ref called a sub I never tapped on) and I did one BJJ comp and lost in 43 seconds. I would consider my self a blue belt at BJJ, Ive tapped out many people and only been tapped out a handful of times in practice, I've won hard sparring matches (if you could win them) I feel like I should be good enough to fight but for some reason I just can't seem to win, I want to be a champion but I've lost my confidence completely. Am I just a bad fighter? Please help. P.s. if you would like to see a video of me losing a fight just ask.

I'm surprised.. why don't you catch the straight arm with your leg and bend it backwards with it? (As the legs are stronger than the arms.) Somehow expected this to be the move you would show 😄 Anyway great details 😃👍

I am 5 foot 6 and I have a training partner that's 6 2 it's really hard for me to stop him passing guard, he will use pressure with his chest and have his legs extended on his toes, any suggestions.

@Micheal Sudan arm locks on bigger guys is hard in general but you can lead them into a kimura all day. Same as girls. Depends on level
@michachalikesyou
@michachalikesyou 3 года назад
@Micheal Sudan strength matters. I’m 160lbs and 5’8 and most likely squat more than them all. I don’t struggle with a lot of grown men at my level. However I only go for armbars if they present themselves

have you guys ever seen the "genie" variation of the kimura from the top position? it gets the same result as the kimura and is a great alternative if the person being kimura is very strong

I was under the idea that you always hip out to the side when doing a kimura from the bottom. At least that’s how it was taught to me.

and as far as “loser” is concerned: u only loose when u give up. a winner never looses hope and fights for another inch. and 2) it’s not the martial art but the mentality u have. I come from a tough immigrant family that never gives up. that’s my final thoughts dude😁

Have you seen/played around with the kimura variation where your left arm controls around the shoulder (such that the crook of your elbow hooks inbetween your opponent's trap and deltoid muscles)? Longer arms may be an advantage for this one, but it seems to force the tap quicker since you limit the range of motion of your opponent's shoulder.
@iamthelizardking6239
@iamthelizardking6239 5 лет назад
Another detail jiu jitsu guys forget I learned from catch wrestling when you grab the wrist internally rotate it like a motorcycle this extends all the ligaments and muscles the full extension so the arm has to travel less before it has no more give. If you just grab the arm and do the typical double wrist lock it’s only on the should, you do the catch variation and the arm with break at the shoulder and the elbow.
