I just used some of these techniques tonight and caught a couple 2 lb smallies. I'm a total newbie so i was happy that I tried these techniques out and they worked. I used a 4-inch plastic crawfish on my 1/0 hook. Had about 10 inches between the weight and the bait. I just slowly pulled in the line until I felt it hit something like a rock/stump and then just moved the rod up and down without moving the weight and that's how I hooked a couple of them. It's weird, because it's not like you get this big jerk on the rod. I didn't even know I had one until I started reeling the line in one time. I'm sure an experienced bass fisherman would have known.
+StevesVids We feel the same thing. A lot of times a bite on a drop shot just feels like it got a little heavier or it got a little lighter (when they swim up with it). You learn to feel how heavy your weight is just dragging it along and if you go to move it and it's a little heavier or lighter, it's usually a bite.
Wired2Fish Thanks for the reply. That's very helpful. There are so many little nuances like this that rarely get talked about in youtube videos. It's tough when your a total newbie like me trying to learn on your own. I really appreciate your videos.
I'm a newbie to this trying to find what I like to fish with and I think I'm gonna stick with this and try to master it. I fish with alot plastic baits I started out with flukes and now I found this and want do this with the worms. I'm wondering if flukes work on a drop shot does it? enjoyed the video man💯 fish on🎣
civic30045 He uses a braid (10-15 pound) main line and a 7-10 foot leader of 8-pound fluorocarbon that he joins with a double uni knot. He uses a 7-foot medium spinning rod with a 2000 sized spinning reel.
I have mono on can I use it I'm not as newly to bass fishing but I don't won't to spend much on braid nor fluro, so I know that mono floats will its work? 🙄
+It's actually kind of refreshing to see a video of how fishing is sometimes - you don't catch anything. Unlike most of the bass videos where they should guys catching bass right and left as if it's so easy. he also gave some great pointers in describing how to use the drop shot tactic.
+StevesVids , Good point, to each his own I guess! I prefer seeing ppl catch em faster than they can bait the hook. What I REALLY prefer is when I AM the one catching em that fast!
Yeah it is in the under water footage. We shot that back in July on Table Rock. Just to show folks what a bait looks like on a drop shot under water. It's actually rigged sort of funky. We didn't realize that. It's not actually Kevin's bait. He's using a Yamamoto Shad Shaped Worm.
