tbh i think your drag is set too loose on the fish you lost. if its too loose, you're not going to be able to get good hook sets and its leaves too much slack on the line for the fish to spit the hook, especially on a technique like drop shot.

I’m planning on going there this Saturday!! Any tips? I am honestly new to fishing, I want to learn and be able to teach my son once he’s a bit older. I’ve never really went fishing as a kid and now that I’m 22 I want to do things I never got to do as a kid with my own son but I want to at least be able to teach him.

Heck yea that’s super cool. If he wants to fish when he’s older he won’t have to go in blind! If they’re close I would throw a double Dropshot and if they’re further a heavy spoon or a heavier castmaster if you can’t get the spoon out far enough. I’ve only been a few times but that’s what I would do. If anyone else has some advice drop a comment for em! 🤙🏻🎣

Usually a 1/4 so I can get it out there the lighter weight the better if you know where the fish are 🐟
