If you are looking for the biggest tire you can fit on your Nova, then try a 275/60/15!! Im running Nitto 555r drag radials in that size and it both fits and looks awesome!!

Howdy! Thank you for the info I have a POS rusted out 4 door nova. I bought it with 265's (that worked because previous owner put large shackles) wound up blowing out my tires on the road. I got 275 60 15 on 15x8 rims and it wouldn't even drive off the lot with those tires. I borrowed a hammer and beat the everloving crap out of the inner fender wells just to get where I was going. So I got 275 60 15's to fit and a dual turbo LS is going in the car. I may try and get some 295's to fit with the right backspacing wheel. I got another inch to go bigger than the 275's with the correct BS
@zAvAvAz
@zAvAvAz 2 года назад
just use p275's on a wider rim they need it they work awesome on 15x10's on 2nd gen camaros, the camaros use 15x10 and 5' or 5.5" backspacing with a O.25" quarter inch spacer for a total of 5.25" or just the 5". some use p295 with that 5.25" backspace trick, although car craft did tire fitting tests with novas also and i believe they had to use the 15x8 or 9 to help flatten the p275 for better clearance its less bulgier on the side walls. i had the magazine and the tech article is on the internet probably still. Honestly i have more actual usable tire with a 275 on a 15x10 than a p295 on a 15x8 for sure.

Looks great novas have that modern wheel offset look because of the fender well design its all nova here, some have been known to put a different wheel arch in, although the nova's natural look is very distinguished. Backspacing is the distance from the flat wheel mounting pad and the inner further most edge and lip of the wheel. backspacing and offset are different measurements, i measure the backspacing first, then i work with offsets as a secondary measurement for other purposes, and really it is only to decipher to what backspacing i need. They are both useful especially on things that list offset instead of backspacing or even backspacing listed as an 'offset' and backspacing universally is a kind of 'offset' although the term 'offset' in a non universal meaning means a different measurement location. And that is mind boggling to me. so offset cannot truly mean backspacing, although backspacing is a type of offset. Strange? Very! :o) Another thing you could do like i am is doing; is weld an X tie brace between the rear leaf spring mounts this eliminates the wiggly movement, however bolt in first get the car going perfectly straight on straight edge surfaces then weld in place.

I run the American Racing 17” rally wheels. I believe they are 17x8 but backspacing sucks. On the front I run 235 45 17 with no issues. On the rear I measured a ton of times and got some 275 40 17s. They looked badass. I put the driver’s side on and it tucked perfectly, I was so excited! Perfect spacing, I nailed it! Then I got to the passenger side. All bad. The rear end is shifted over roughly 3/4” and I couldn’t even make it out of the garage. So now I have crappy 245 45 17 in the rear and I hate it. What’s with the stupid offset rear end thing? So many people have it from my understanding.

@automotiveantics
@automotiveantics 3 месяца назад
I've found wheels are measured with either offset OR backspacing. Not both. Essentially they are the same idea where one is measured from the from of the wheel and the other the back of the wheel. That being said as long as you have 5.5 backspacing you're good to go
