Great video Kev, I love your "Easy on the ear" presenting style! I have just liked & subscribed. Hope to view more of your videos this year , especially on Dexta's!
Hey Kev, another fantastic video as usual! 🌟 We' look forward to collaborate with you in 2024. 🤝 Wishing you a Merry Christmas from the entire team at Emmark UK! 🎄🎅
Hi Kev, Very useful video thanks..... I bought one of those same lift pumps to replace the original one on my '59 Dexta. Im not getting a leak from the paper gasket but the pump itself is seeping diesel through red/orange rubber gasket between the two halfs of the unit. No amount of tightening or loosening off the screws is solving it. Would it be ok to get some of the fuel seal (or similar) and dissassemble the lift pump to apply it to the rubber gasket>
Hi thank you for your message. Sorry to hear you are having issues the only thing I can think of is that the two half’s of the pump are distorted so when they are screwed together they aren’t squeezing down equally on the gasket. It may pay you to take a straight edge to them and have a look if there is a problem get some wet and dry paper lay in on something hard and flat use wd40 and move it round is a figure of 8 motion and that may sort it out. Hope that helps let me know how you get on. Kevin
I had the same issue as you and pulled the two halves apart as shown by removing the screws and twisting the the plunger then cleaned both sides of the diaphragm applied some aircraft gasket stuff ( like what Kev used to fit the paper gasket to the block ) and reassembled. I left it for 24 hrs before starting to help the gasket glue set. Hasn't leaked a drop 30 hrs later!
nice video Kev, i was recently told that i could adjust my oil pressure via a diversion valve on a MF 35x which always seems to be pinned at the red on pressure gauge, is this an option or is there other underlying issues that may be causing high oil pressure, tractor is well serviced and oil is still clear, using 15w 40
Thank you, with the earlier Massey the 4 cylinder and the petrols you can adjust them on the filter housing. As for the 3 cylinder’s I don’t think you can I think it is set and can’t be adjusted. In my Fordson Super Dexta video I’m going to take the oil pump apart which is the same as a 35 where the oil pressure relief is. As for the high oil pressure it could be the crankshaft or big end shells getting worn. When you changed the oil the last time was there any metal specs in the oil? Hope that makes sense. Kev.
@@kevsvintagetractorrepair no, oil always comes out nearly half clear, no specs the tractor was owned by my mum for many years though and never saw oil for few years so I would say it’s down to wear. Engine is sound. Starts on the key, will be rebuilt in next few years
