Tutorial on how to repair the ABXY buttons on an Xbox controller. The 6 solutions should apply to ones sold during the Series X S, and Xbox One era, and may also apply to the Elite series. Buttons on those can be stuck down, not responding, sticky, or mushy. I go over how to cure those issues, through cleaning and replacing, when needed. This video includes pretty much a complete teardown, and a complete reassembly of the controller.

Thank you!!! I unfortunately had to take apart the controller and do a deep clean because three of my buttons were sticking. But following this guide was so easy and now everything works. Also for anyone else that has to take it apart, the motherboard screws were t5 on mine

Step one worked. Not shure if there was actualy dust in there, but it seems the button was a bit crooked. prying a bit with the piece of cardboard to get it to fit all the way around seems to have allowed the button to pop back into place. happy to see my control alive and well again :)

The issue with my controller was with the "X" button, which was not responding unless really pressing down on it. Unfortunately I had to resort to Solution 6 as nothing before that really worked. It was somewhat a nerve-racking experience given the fragileness of some of the inner components, but your video made it really easy to navigate through each of the steps. Ultimately, this fixed my issue and the controller is as good as new. Thank you!

Was there dirt between the X button and the PCB? Or did just a basic cleanup make the X work for you? I have the same issue but with Y button.

@@Hpro1i for me its basic clean up, my problem theres dust above and under the silicon pad, because I wear glove when Im playing. The dust is so thick. I follow this tutorial 100% and after that it works like new. Not just that, all button feels responsive .

Solution 6 solved my problem! Im the type who doesn't fix thing by my self, I always pays people to do it. I dont know how, but I did it by my self and it works! Theres so many dust under the silicon pad. This thing happen because I always wear glove when I playing games and not to. mention I want to avoid yellowish from my controller because its white controller. Thanks for the tutorial!

I tried everything in the video but A and B just kept sticking. Finally I tried the suggestion between solution # 3 and solution #4. It worked! The buttons are now unstuck! IDK how liking a RU-vid video can stop console controller buttons from sticking but here I am. Maybe cause I hit the like button WITH the controller while it was still in a state of partial disassembly it randomly worked. Our dog ran off and buried the D-pad and L-trigger again but once I dig them up there's an 80's Soap Opera themed turn based strategy pinball game I can't wait to binge for a good 72 hours.

Thank you for such a detailed explanation. We had to replace the rubber padding. All seemed to go fine but now it won't turn on. No response with a known working battery and only a vibration when plugged in by usb. Any suggestions?

Thank you for this! I'm always overly protective of my stuff so I was devastated and disappointed in myself when I spilled a soda on my brand new Forza Horizon 5 controller. Ever since I've been using the method of blowing on the buttons to make them not stick for an hour or so. After following your video and cleaning it out it finally feels like new again.

bro thank you dude i wiped down my controller before my session cuz it had taki resido build up on it and I got on fortnite and When I tried to build I couldnt cuz the B button didnt work. Spent 30 mins freaking out and getting pissed trying to fix it. Your suggestion of the Canned air worked. Sprayed it all over the controller and fixed it. Thanks

I took it apart and there was some kind of red liquid everywhere so i cleaned it and it works great now. Only thing is the dpad has a slight metallic clinky noise, but works fine. I tried another controller and i got the clinky noise again but works great. Compared it to a new controller and I dont see any difference... I wonder what i did? Glad it works though thank you.

does this work at all for xbox 360 controllers? I'm guessing not. any videos that ARE for fixing 360 controllers? the only results I find for them are about cleaning the buttons. I'm 90% sure my 360s A button membrane is damaged because it gets stuck down (flat stuck in place, and I have to wiggle it around for it to dislodge, it's not sticky like there's dirt in there it gets stuck in place like there's a mechanical error. it doesn't have sticky resistance like it's filthy when I try to press it down)

I got through part 6 and my controller won’t turn on anymore and I did the procedure 3 times over which took around 3 and a half hours and the same result of it not turning on. I checked the batteries and still nothing.. idk what to do and I’m seriously considering to just switch to pc at this point with how many controllers I’ve wasted money on.

hi again, i did the other day what u suggested and for a few mins it worked, but then again to the problem, and the problem is that my a button get stuck when i press it, not every time but usually when i push with a little strengh , not intentionally of course it get stuck, and its the only button that happens, the controller i have been using it like 6 month it was new,

Xbox One and Series Controllers suck. I had three of them an all of them did at some point have problems with the A-button input. My 360-Controller worked for 10 years without issues.

Let us say I used ethryl alcohol 70% and now the when I put it up the controller the button comes up when it goes down the button works if that explains. It is a ps4 nacon controller.
