Don't you think it would have made a better video if you used a harddrive with problems ? ..this video is like teaching a mecanics course on a flawless brand new car
When I try to do a Write test on my external, all the blocks have an error and say “Access denied” When I do a read it’s perfectly fine and the drive works fine and everything like that.
nvm , dont try any tool that says it will fix bad sectors they are all trash , they might increase the problem , if your harddrive has bad sectors just buy ssd or another harddrive or ,, ignore the bad sectors .
I've used the software, it runs however it damaged my hdd, my hdd is no longer visible to any of my devices, i also tried it on my windows system drive, now i'm unable to boot to windows, this sucks, yesterday i had my hdd and windows working, now both of them is unusable...
Can you please explain what restore and remap do? Does using remap stops that sector forever? And what restore actually does? And what actually erase does? And also do I need to do anything with smart such as reset it?
Great vid, man! Thanks a lot. I'm running Victoria on a HDD that started reporting bad sectors on CrystalDisk, and I'm seeing a LOT of orange spots in the test section. I'm guessing there's really nothing that can be done for that drive, yeah? :(
What cheap brand HDD do you have? If I'm not mistaken, this was an automatic feature and they had spare sectors since early IDE/PATA or before. The drive handled it, the OS and apps only noticed a slow down when it dealt with bad sectors. It didn't always slow apps down if there weren't too many for read ahead / prefetch buffers to keep up.
I use Stablebit Scanner, but I always religiously replace the hard drive when sectors start going yellow or when they take more than 100ms to write a sector? I forgot the speed threshold but whenever it takes a while. I've only had one hard drive fail bad in 15 years. It was a newer 2TB Seagate. Fortunately, I had backups.
You have a option to relocate Bad sectors, so it marks Bad sectors, and the Drive does not use them anymore. Its not a bad program, you just need to know what you are doing! Not for amateurs BTW.
Yep, looks alright to me. Unfortunately I cannot fix this 600GB HDD filled to the brim with cyclic redundancy checks.. Largest internal (probably external as well) drive I have owned lol. Got my first laptop with an SSD not too long ago as well, around the time you posted the comment I think. HP Elitebook 8470p, worth checking out if you do not rock a desktop or modern system that you are happy with.
Thanks a lot, if I know which LBA the bad sectors start at, can I just remap from this point till the end in one step or is there any faster way? because checking every LBA and remapping it will take forever.
So i downloaded this software, select orange, red, blue and remap. It already found 1 red right from the beginning. Do i have to do anything else after it ends or it will get rid of them automatically ?
Great video very helpful !!!, but I have a question, I used smart and it said my drive condition was good but I had over 13000 reallocated sector counts and when I ran the test over 1000 red and blue errors what do I do?
It should not have any bad sectors, but I guess its possible that they could have a bad sector. Its never happen to me when I brought a new hard drive.
Thanks Brian,I am looking forward in using this software HDAT2,when I get home.I will use it on my 10 year old Packard Bell Intel Core 2 Quad 8300 @2.50GHz with 1TB Hard drive and 8gb ram, since I install Ubuntu with Win7 my Desktop became slower.i clean installed Win7 installed and I checked for errors in cmd chkdsk c: /f ,Brian will the software (HDAT2) do the same job or better?
Do you have any fixes for an SD card that won't let me reformat or let me write to it, on an Android phone or on PC Windows 10 if you could link me a video ASAP. thanks Boss
Do this software scan the whole PC along with external hard drive or can I scan only the external one? and yeah, scan completed. And I have some warning and errors.Should I do anything else or it's already fixed by itself?
It only happens occasionally, the issue I believe is mainly because the PC is booting from the HDD where the OS is not installed, I normally just switch the priority around with my SSD and switch it back, that normally does it. Thannks for reply
@@TheinpossibleGang I've seen my external hd flashs in blue color on a pc that is not mine, why in blue? it's always white at home when connected to my laptop and tv
clean the hard drive like factory new A) as safety go first to windows system manager-disc management look what number the drive has that you want to clean close page on pc searchbar type diskpart and start that in diskpart menu: type list disk type select disc 2 (the one you want to renew be sure you got the drive number right (see point A ) it says disk 2 is the selected disk type: clean confirm and wait 10 seconds close program after that its the usual formating process for a empty new fresh drive
Sir can u help me i had put on full screen scaling option in intel graphics and now my monitor is not working it is showing out of range plz give me suggestion
Hi Shaun, if a hard drive starts making an unusual clicking noise it can indicate a mechanical problem with the head getting stuck on the platter, which can cause damage to the surface and your data, so best to switch off and send it to a data recovery company or If your hard drive is inside warranty you can get a replacement from the manufacturer.
when i try to check the disk all sectors are bad when using diskgenious S/W,trying to format i get this error :Read Sector Error! Disk: HD1:TOSHIBAMK3275GSX(298GB) From Sector: 0. 2 Sector(s) Total. Is my disk dead completely ,someone help
It took a lot of time on my 1TB exteral hd and didn't work, sometimes it reaches a point of almost completing task and reasuming that last part over and over again forever :(
is there a link for download mate? i dont trust those showing on google for me, i cant find the software website. i have 1 bad sector at the second line on hdd tune and i want to test this victoria before making partitions lol
The program is already integrated on Hiren's Boot CD tool. With the ISO you can create a bootable USB stick, and from there you need no Windows. Be aware that on newer Hiren's version maybe the software is no longer, so check description before download it.
Anyone know what the difference in versions of this program, most videos are showing 4.47, this video shows 4.61, the most current version seems to be 5.2. Other than the 5.2 version, all the others are many years old, yet some seem to prefer those, particularly 4.47. Not sure why.
