Upon hearing a bad noise coming from your GPU or case fan, you might think you need to buy a replacement part: today we're taking a look at how that's not the case and you can get everything fixed with some simple sewing oil to lubricate the motor & pin!
This will also fix fan speed issues and fan detection issues due to low speed, as these are caused by friction.
Obviously, every overheating issue will be fixed as well :)
Here is the oil I used in the video:

I bought same one yesterday for £130, they seem to have gone up in value, I need to clean mine also, bearing noise at 60-70% fan speed.

GPU market is strange at the moment, agreed! But hopefully they’re still on a downwards trajectory

I did that to one of the fans but when I wired it back, it stopped working entirely. It took a lot of effort to pull it out. It's "Apistick" brand. What to do.

Check if you accidentally broke a cable! If so, just solder it back :)

For the fan bushing, I wonder which lubricant would be better: 1) Sewing machine (mineral oil-based) or 2) White lithium (AKA NLGI 2 grade) grease?

lithium is used for bigger bearings, it will work ofc but with no additional positives. could be more viscous then needed

Very well said! I’d go with 1 personally

Tried this with an Asus RTX 3060 and failed miserably the fan was like literally welded onto the motor and it eventually just shattered into pieces I ended up just replacing the entire fan with one I got on Amazon for $20 fit right in and was so much quieter the difference was ridiculous.

It’s nice to hear some negative feedback which still turned out alright. Unfortunately it happens, it happened to me recently too. It’s a hard procedure. Getting a new fan always works :)

How do you remove the fan from the shroud without damaging any parts?

It truly is just a matter of pulling, but you have to be very careful and take your time, don't pull too hard. Also subscribing to the channel grants you that needed extra luck :p

My air conditioner died. So I laughed and said, "What's next is on the death list ?". The next day, my Radeon RX 6400 graphics card died. So I tossed my antique ZOTAC GT 710 graphics card into my computer. It does not have a fan and thus it idles at about 57c. So I removed the fan from the dead RX 6400 and glued it to the GT 710's heatsink. Due to the backwards mounting orientation, it sucks air through the heatsink fins, rather than blow air onto the heatsink. But despite that, it now idles at 41c, and the max operating temp is about 67c. The fan has a 4 pin connector. I connected the +12vdc pin and the PWM pin to a +5vdc supply, and of course the GND pin to GND of the +5vdc supply. Running on only +5vdc keeps the fan nice and quiet.

It sucks that fans stop working so often...i get about 2 years from a gpu then the fans strip and the card shuts down. Nothing wrong with the card just the fans! Insanity! and they don't make them easy to replace!

Yeah they should be better engineered tbh
