This happens with several usb 2 hdd and usb memory pen. you can see that win 11 has repaired the disk when you choose to show hidden files. internal sata hdd and ssd have never had this problem. Is usb more vulnerable and more unstable?
USB 2.0 3.0 is a big joke! how often do you get faster write speeds than 15mb? with a hama usb 3.0 card reader and a new ssd card, I often get kilobytes of write speed and max 10mb. They vary up and down. usb 2.0 hdd so I never get more than a 15mb write speed.

Yes, seems like this bad diode is shorting out the power, which also means all the power that's supposed to power the wholr drive gets dumped into this one diode, making it hot
Could I swap the board out with one from another hdd? Would that work? I don't have an extra hdd lying around, but I'm willing to buy one if it means getting drive to work long enough to recover my files.
Hello. No matter which usb storage I connect to my computer, I get a message (It's an error) And win11 gives you the option to scan and fix the problem. The problem is that this also happens with newly formatted external USB 2 hard drives. Also usb2 memory pen. Always when windows tries to scan and repair the disk, CMD (scandisk /f e:) it always says at the end that it failed and could not repair. during this process things on the disk were deleted and other things were done. Some of the content is now more damaged than before! On a usb hdd disk, I formatted with full format and afterwards I did a full sector scan without any errors. After copying a few files, win 11 started complaining. Why? One of the explanations is that it is windows. I have experienced this with 4 USB HDDs and several USB sticks
Classic: Dead Transil (TVS)... No need thermal camera, test them (and the possible fuse associated) with a multimeter. ;-) For recovery data, just REMOVE them.

That redish component is getting heated due to it self it is got damaged or got shorted due to any surrounding components failure so this is not working
