Great video with detailed steps. In the comments, I saw a comment about the floater. I tried that, no luck. While racking my brain, hoping I did not have to follow the video. I remembered before the washer stopped spraying, I was pushing the hot water and drain hoses in the back of my cabinet/under the sink. Google results mentioned placement of the hoses can cause this issue. It took about 1 hour, but I found the "sweet spot" for the hoses. ALL GOOD NOW! I wanted to share for anyone else. Hope this helps. I kept putting the dishwasher on rinse cycle, once the clicking sound started, I open the door. which resets the rinse cycle to sprayers. Moved the hoses while the clicking also until I heard the spraying.
I almost went to replace the part and decided to call a local repair guy, he fixed it over the phone thankfully. Nothing was actually broken, so just for everyone out there, on the bottom of your dishwasher there's a little circular thing, it's the floater. Sometimes it gets stuck in an upward position, tricking the dishwasher into thinking it's full basically. All I had to do was pull it up a bit and drop it back down and wait for the faint "click" noise. Boom, fixed. Great video though, informative.
This comment sounds like a good try for sure! I to am not getting any water. Didn't know it could be the floater honestly didn't know what that was ha learn something new every day
Someone's comment saved me! No water... My float was stuck up! Small round disk at front of bottom water tray. I removed, cleaned, and replaced. Working now.
I was able to fix my KitchenAid dishwasher with the help of this video. Bought a replacement valve on Amazon. Save yourself a big headache and replace the spring clip with a tiny hose clamp (got mine at Home Depot). After replacing the valve the first time, I had a small drip and had to do it over. The hose clamp fixed it. Also, I'm not sure why he disconnected the hose from the brass elbow. It's much easier to unscrew the brass hose connection from the blue value.
this video gave me confidence to troubleshoot my own dishwasher problem. I went in thinking it was the pump, no the water sensor, no the gunky tank hanging on the side. I lastly checked the water line, and there were sediments blocking water flow.
Great video. This ended up being the same exact issue going on with my dishwasher. Ended up costing me $15 and about an hour of my time versus hundreds on a repairman. Thank you!
Did the diagnosis at the beginning of video and figured it was the water inlet valve. I have a Maytag. I let it finish the cycle and few hours later for the heck of it I tried starting another cycle. To my surprise it filled on its own! I’ve done 2 loads this week and everything seems ok so far.
You literally saved me $100+!!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!!! This worked on Whirlpool dishwasher and I bought the part on Amazon for $20! So grateful for videos like this!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! You saved me a huge headache. I'm the WOman of the house and things like this stress me out, but you saved the day! I honestly can't thank you enough. ☺️
I am soooooooo praying this is the issue with my Amana dishwasher (new in our house when we purchased it). And that someone can fix it. 🤞🏽We prefer other brands but it was new so we left it. Great video thanks so much!
We have an Amana too. And I believe he may have fixed our issue. I did the water in the bottom and like his, it worked! So now on to ordering the part! Hope yours gets fixed!
@@badcoordinates I tried to get him to fix it but he was worried that more components would continue to break so he bought a new one. Wish we could’ve fixed it to save money, but I’m grateful for the new one, but this video had me about to fix the Amana myself! Lol 😂 Thanks though!
Thank you very much sir. I just recently started to using my dishwasher and I didn’t have any clue, how it works even though I do fix other stuff. Yesterday after I run the dishwasher, the dishes was not clean, but some water left on the dishes. I didn’t know where to start. After searching on RU-vid I watched your video and after 3 minutes of watching it, I decided to check the water inlet. Our under the sink water control valve is a rare one, which is, a push and pull one. I checked that control valve which turn ON or OFF the water supply to the dishwasher and It was pushed in. I think while I was working on the sink faucet accidentally I push the one for the dishwasher. Now it turned ON again the dishwasher working now. Also you explain everything in detail including the price and matching the new part with the old one. Thank you very much for posting the video. God bless you! Also do you have any information about fridge water dispenser? It’s a GE refrigerator. I already replaced the filter still no water coming out. It is making ice very slowly also. Thanks again.
Good video, but I would have installed the dishwasher lower so the customer could read the settings w/o have to open the door. I did learn some repair procedures from you thx.
Thank you sir. I feel like a man today lol hahah . I took apart my dishwasher ordered the part on the video and bam. I’m back in business. I feel like a man. I beat my chest like a man. Lol Then I shaved off my beard like a man.. lol Now I look like a boy lol . But thank you my friend.
(My experience + grain of salt) Before you order this $75+ part, first, take it out and lightly tap/shake it on a soft towel. If you don't hear/feel something moving inside the valve, tap it a little harder. You might get a little water out. But if you don't feel/hear something shake free, well, nothing ventured, nothing gained. And watch out, as you know, the plastic threads strip easily. Pre-install the metal connector to the valve before placing back.
very intresting, great detail video, would like to see you work on a frigidaire, have one that doesnt seem to be either not spraying or water is not making it to the pump or something, thanks
The dishwasher I was messing with had been sitting for 3 years. I put hot water in it to test and the dishwasher is been running normal ever since. Ran it 4-5 times so far. Just surprised me. Was convinced I was going to have to replace some stuff. It's fully filling, washing and rinsing. I'm assuming the hot water loosened something.
Likely the sump float was stuck up...telling the electronics the basin was full...so no water was asked for. Hot water in the bowl dislodged the stuck float (likely food particles or grease)
Hello there thank you for this terrific video! Just a question, if your dishwasher is filling and draining but not spraying could it still be the same issue? God bless you!
Potentially. The part is cheap it wouldn’t hurt to replace it and see if that resolved the issue. Worse case you can return the item on Amazon. I left the link in the description to the part. Best,
I was replacing overhead lights and had to turn off breaker for a bit. Well, I guess as a safety thing when breaker off the on/off water pops out and turns water off. Easy fix for me and great video! Thank you!
Everything manufactured today is such crap my 25 year old microwave, dishwasher, frig, stove, washer and dryer are all still working because quality was important back when these were made in the USA.
this is very helpful, and thank you. so I did the bowl trick and the sprayers were fine. So I did go ahead and find the part number for the inlet valve and got it replaced (almost exactly how you described - excellent video). After I put everything back together, the dishwasher is still behaving the same way. Is there anything else related to water not spraying or filling to start the cycle? Many thanks!!
*** I changed the water inlet valve and still no water. Turns out my feed line was clogged with debris right before the water inlet valve. No idea how that debris got in there.
Hi. My dishwasher is not washing. It fills up. But is not spraying water. Ran the diagnostic test. It givesme a 6-4 code. So I replaced the Inlet Valve. I can hear the float switch clicking. What else can it be?
@@yournamehere6925 nope. It's still not spraying from the top. My husband just hasn't had time to mess with it much. I'm aggravated because it's not even 2 years old.
I filled it manualy but pump will not turn on ... I even tested pump by directly connecting 120VAC to it and it works...May be my control board is NOT telling it to turn on..
Thank you, my husband is trying that now. We have a kitchenaid from 2006 (post Katrina hurricane flooding) and it also fails to drain once water is inside. Should we just buy a new one?
Great video...For me seems water is coming but dishes are not getting washed , also leaving the detergent on uncleaned utensils . Its Amana dishwasher What part do I need to change ? Please help ..thanks in advance
I think I have a bad valve but when I added water it did not spray and also did not drain into the disposal. I think I’ll change the water valve anyway and see if that helps?
Nice video. Mine is water sprays, but it didn’t spay high enough and powerfully. So do i need to replace that one which video showed the part? If you have an idea, please let me know how to fix it. Thank you.
It’s possible the water valve is not opening all the way and replacing it might help, but I would pull your sprayers and check if something is stuck. It’s also possible your pump is going out.
I poured some water into my dishwasher because it was not filing with water to see if my sprayer worked but nothing happened. So I assume my water circulator pump that has failed.
In our case the issue we were seeing was the dishwasher would fill in and drain but it would not spray or clean. Initially we got the F1 E9 error codes. The dishwasher is a Whirlpool Dishwasher that is less than a year old. I started replacing parts that were cheaper and then the more expensive parts where all were possibly faulty. I replaced the inlet valve, the diverter motor, and finally the draining pump. We are still not seeing it spray or wash. At this point I have read that possibly the board is bad or a fuse but I am not sure. Anyone has an idea what else we could check before we go and buy a new one? Thanks in advance.
Problem: Water fills ok. Water drains ok. Circulating pump tests ok. Cycle runs to completion. But No water sprays. Solution unknown. How do you test the circuit board that provides power to pump?
@@AlanGibson7 I am not an expert, but from my research, all you can do is test for continuity with a multimeter. If it does not beep, the circuit is broken meaning some component has failed. Then, as I understand the board needs to be replaced. I did not get this far, and after spending about $150 on it, decided it was time to get a new one and not mess further with it. I have put the old one for sale as needing repairs.
I did everything in the video, ran the water manually through and it worked, so it's not the pipes. Changes out the part and it still doesn't work. What could be wrong? Now when I run it, there's a noise that wasn't happening before.
It sounds like everything else is turning around and I hear small amount of water but nothing is spraying water around, just a very small amount of water at the bottom [and I mean very little water shows at bottom of the dishwasher]. 2009-2014 Kenmore dishwasher black on top with stainless steel door and stainless steel inside.
Maintenance replaced my dishwasher. New dishwasher is not getting water inside. After their visit today, i can hear water going to the drain but none is getting to the dishes. Ugh!!
Question: i have a 21 year old Kenmore. I just put a bowl of water in the bottom and its washing. No problem. Im wondering, if that little screen was clogged would that stop the flow?? I thought i fixed it with the float but i used it once and it was back to no water flow. 🤔🧐 how will i know its the part you replaced? I just looked at new ones and omgosh. They're beautiful but so much money. My kenmore frig same age is filling with snow in the freezer and frig part is barely cool. 2 old appliances in 1 week. I love my ancient kenmores because they were awsome. Nothing has ever broke on it and we have well water. HELP
@@4x2WagonFamily sounds like water is filling fine, just not spraying through the arms and like me he misunderstood your "troubleshooting steps" because we have a totally different problem. Dishwasher fills and drains fine, just doesn't spray.
Can the valve work on and off when it's going out? Or does it go out all at once? I have a Kenmore portable dishwasher and when I hook it up to the faucet, It wants to pop off the sink. I can hear water going into it somewhat, but after a minute or two, it will pop off the sink. If I lower the amount of water going into the washer, it will stay on sometimes. I have taken the dish washer apart 3x and cleaned out the hoses and cleaned the spray arm and checked the float but I can tell there is something wrong. I just can't figure out what it is. The dishes do come out clean but the water sounds the dishwasher make, I can tell, is not right. Could that be the valve? Thanks.
My whirlpool WDF520PADM7 fills and then just sits there, it releases the soap as well then after a little bit I here it pumping the water out like it's going through a cycle. Think my pump that goes to the sprayers is bad?
@4x2WagonFamily no, but after trying your test of filling up with water still did not run, the holes on the sprayers are not clogged, the diswasher is only 2 yro. I clean the filters and nothing happens.
My Kitchenaid is showing code 6-4 . The service company diagnosed that I needed a new sump pump unit. Also, a new control board. My dishwasher fills and sprays but after 7 minutes or so stops spraying and I hear the motor click on ... but it doesn't spray and 10 seconds later I hear a 2nd click and it stops ... 10 minutes later it tries to start washing again and seconds later clicks off again. The sump pump drain ok. Any suggestions? My unit is only 5 years old.
I have the same problem, I hear a motor running but no water shooting out and I did get a new valve part I just hooked it up and it's still doing the same thing any idea what it could possibly be?
In that case your pump is probably bad, but you can test first by pouring some water directly into the dishwasher but do not go above the heating element and turn on your dishwasher. If the water is not spraying you can bet it’s your motor pump.
Hi jerry, Because the sprayer and pump was working as you seen in the test, but the water was not ejecting into the dishwasher… hence the issue. The only part that would cause this issue is the water inlet valve. I hope that makes sense. Thank you for posting.
My dishwasher is brand new, came with the house. It fills with water and drains, and the heater works but water never sprays or splashes inside. I ran it thru several cycles. It fills with water and then its silent for like 20 minutes and then drains. Not sure what to do there, or why a brand new dishwasher doesnt work 😒
I learn to troubleshoot dishwashers from an application repair man back when I owned a property management company. I’ve never had to replace a motor on a dishwasher, but I’ve replaced a lot of inlet valve… a common wear item.
I have an error F6 in my dishwasher, i check it and no water inside, and see that the inlet valve not opened to enter the water to the dishwasher, its seems that the inlet valve fault?if yes how can i test it thats its works or no, or its the mainboard card pcb issue?dishwasher name NEON
