Just came to say thanks for such a great nugget of wisdom. I did my first descaler about 3 weeks ago and yesterday noticed that my water flow had almost altogether stopped. Just spent the last 15mins doing what you've suggested and flow is back to normal 😁 absolute champion!

Mate, this is life saving! Literally, all the advice you get online is to remove the solenoid valve, open it up, clean it and put it back. This is so much easier and more convenient ❤

Just wanted to say THANK YOU. New Gaggia Classic. Didn't descale in time. Been sitting for EIGHT months with no brew head flow. Have been dreading a solenoid clean out. Watched, did exactly as instructed (thank-you, thank-you) FLOW. Just finished my first mocha with dark cocoa, Billingtons Molasses Sugar and Lavazza Super Crema. I am a very happy woman. Blessings.

This really works! I kept having to backflush my gaggia classic pro due to low water flow and eventually that stopped working as well. Tried this trick with some descaler and it did the trick, after a few tanks of water! The classic pro doesn't have the switch to alternate between the group head and steam wand, but I used the steam knob to switch between and it seems to have worked! Thanks!!!!!!

Awesome video I used 2 tablespoons of lemme shine descaler and filled the tank with water the clog was cleared in less then a minute but i emptied the rest through the machine to make sure it was properly cleared out of any residue calcium buildup. Of course now we need to flush out that stuff but it was working like new now, Thanks to your video i saved $449.99 not including taxes on a new one. anyone thinking of sending your machine for repair try this method first, as long as the pump is working.

I'm so grateful i found this video! Nearly sank money into getting a new machine because i thought my machine got too old. It's a 9year old gaggia classic pro, over the last 2 weeks i noticed there wasn't crema in my espresso shot and the coffee tasted really bitter. I did not attribute it to an issue with the machine, basically tried to find the source of issue on everything else instead like grind size, stale beans etc. When i finally turned on the group head this morning and the issue was really the slow flow, i was really upset i didnt find this out earlier. Thank you once again for helping me to save on hefty repair fees or the cost of a new machine with this hack!

I found this video after I had the problem and fixed it! :-( It alls comes to how often is the Gaggia descale! mine was not for a while since in my city the water is as clean as in the norwegian mountains! BUT my problem was cleaneance, too many coffees with too fine coffee powder... it got stuceoked in the group over the shower filter and in beyond! so with no water was impossible top back flush!...So took away the shower "filter" and the 2 allen screws that hold the aluminium shower distributor, then descale both the steamer and the tank as much it just run around until some drops start coming and the heat allowed me to pull down the aluminium shower holder distributor... and there was the fatty powder causing the problem... cleaned and assembly... I guess now that the descale helped the selenoid too since when Back flushing it worked lovely pulling out all the excess through the down pipe! thanks.

I just did this after I noticed my grouphead water flow getting slower and slower this past week. This quick fix worked and everything is up and running after a descale and backflush. Thank you Stephen!!! In the future, do you think this issue is primarily from chunks of loose scale clogging this up incidentally during descale, or due to a need for more frequent descaling? Before the pandemic I was making 2 drinks a week and descaling every 3 months. Now I make 7 drinks a week and I still have been descaling once every 2 months.

Hi David When a machine hasn't been used for awhile the pump drives out. It may have to be primed I do this with a syringe. Fill the syringe with water then where the water inlet goes into the machine force the water with the syringe into the machine.. tip take the tank out . You may have to do this a number of times. Then replace the tank and see if water is going into the machine. If so descale it immediately a number of times. Worst case the pump is stuffed.. doubt it though. Good luck let me know the outcome Regards, Steve

@@stephendalton1541 I check the little filter water passes through, I tried the air lock trick with a syringe, I even tried to push water in the hose using my lips there is zero flow. No water even dropped into drip tray. I checked hoses going into pump nothing clogged and i checked hoses coming out of pump everything looks clean, I took apart water pump and cleaning it now with vinegar, buy that looked pretty clean too. I can hear the solenoid opening and closing too. I have funny feeling maybe it was airlocked really bad and I couldn't get enough pressure to get things moving

Gaggia's UK distributor (formerly known as Gaggia UK) recommended the same thing on their channel.

My gaggia makes a clicking sound when I turn on the brew but no pump sounds at all. I tried this video and did what he said but no pump sounds at all. Any idea what could be the issue

Maybe the pump needs replacing? If the steam wand allows water to come through it's probably not the pump.
