After trying EVERY advice found in the internet and my wife already twisting my arm to go out and buy a new printer... I decided to try one last thing... 1. I took out the part where you attach the ink cartridges 2. Showered it with hot water 3. Dried it with a hairdryer. 4. Put it back in. AND IT WORKED!
After about 3 hours looking for a solution to my problem of no black ink wanting to print on my HP Photosmart 5520 printer after it being in storage and unused for nearly 3 years this worked!! I am in absolute awe! Thank you!!
THANK YOU!!! My printer was printing colors perfectly but absolutely NO BLACK. I found this video and tried the method yesterday, but it didn't work. Tonight I decided to give it another shot, but this time with MUCH hotter water. I also used soaking wet paper towels this time around and ran the printhead back and forth about 20 times, switching out the paper towel halfway through. I tried a test print immediately after but again, no black. Ran the "clean print heads" feature and bam! It worked! I couldn't believe it. Thank you Marcin!!!! P.S. This was on the HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 3525
Superb! You have the best solution to my problem always. Last time also I watched your video and this time also your video only gave me the solution to my problem which I have faced so many time. Thanks!
Thank you Thank You Thank You!! Single mom had no money in the budget for a new printer and taking things apart always leads to extra parts left over! This worked like a charm!
Brilliant! The Black stopped working after replacing the cartridges and the Black was out a little out of date. However, despite this being a slightly fiddly procedure and taking me 3 attempts to get completely clear printing, it is now working. I also should have read points 1 to 9, particularly number 7, before I started, but I got there. Many thanks, Marcin. Thumbs up from me! 👍
People! this method works for the HP Photosmart 6525. I needed to repeat this process 4x (very clogged printheads) until it worked - Marcin - this is both ingenious, informative, and inventive - Thank you!
Having ordered at new set of (cheap) ink cartridges when the black original HP cartridge I bought (for several hundred NOK) did not seem to work, then realizing that the problem was not the cartridge but something else, I learned from the net that this was a known problem with these printers, and found this wonderful video, presenting the problem and showing exactly what to do to solve it. After having got a couple of error messages, 0xc19a0030 and 42 if I remember correctly, then cleaning the print heads etc, the printer responded with a beautiful test page. Marvelous - thank you very much for taken the time to make this excellent video.
DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER....I called December 5, 2017 and asked the rep if he was with HP or a third party and he abruptly hung up. I called back and a guy answered claiming he is in Virginia and was with Quuantum Solutions. Buyer Beware!
Worked well. I used isopropyl alcohol instead of water as it evaporates quickly and won’t rust any components. Also I used an eye dropper and forced some liquid through the metallic meshing. Had to do it twice with a few print head cleans but turned out great. Thanks for the informative video.
My black totally blocked. I did the above fix with hot water and paper towels three times but it didnt budge it. I resoaked more towels and left the carriage with wet towel underneath and a wet towel on top to sit overnight. Next day loaded in inks ran clean program, printed test page. Works like new. I am so happy. Marcin Błaczkowski you are a legend.
OMG Marcin! You're AMAZING!!!!!! GOD BLESS YOU!!! SERIOUSLY!! I have an HP Deskjet 3520, I left it for about a month when I was away for vacation, and when I came back I keep printing, and it keeps giving me blank papers.. although the cartridges are full. So I bought new other ones. Like all the four of them. Thinking that the old ones have gone dry or something.. and it still give me blanks. So I tried your method, and within seconds everything went back to normal!!!! OMG MAN, I LOVE YOU! You're a genius!! You've just saved me a lot of time AND money indeed, you're the BEST!!!
This worked for my hp 5520 that was not printing black. I had to do it 5-6 times. I also unplugged my printer and left a damp paper towel under the printhead overnight. My prints look so great now. Thanks for posting.
Ok. Here we are in 2021. )) Working on a friend's HP 5512 printer. Prints nothing but blank pages. Well, 1st they had cartridges in backwards. So they were stuck. )) Fixed that. 2nd, they rarely use the printer so probably issues w/old or dried up cartridges. Went through ALL the HP solutions. And just spent 15 minutes thoroughly cleaning the carriage tray like your wonderful video. But no go. Have cleaned printheads like 6-8 times. Nothing different. They can either buy all new cartridges and hope that works; or get newer HP printer for not much more. That is going to be my advice to them.
I changed the ink. Did all troubleshooting as per HP but in vain. I was almost hopeless then I came across this video. Did it and voila it was working perfect. Manu thanks to you Marcin....
After buying new cartridges. Then had missing sections when printing black...was ready to launch the printer out of the window 😡 but fortunately this worked a treat 👍. Thank you!
This worked on my HP Photosmart 6510. Thank you!!! You saved me buying a new printer. I had to do it twice before it was printing perfectly, but now it's as good as new!
Thank you SO MUCH! our printer has not been working for several month. We were researching which printer to go purchase. Tried one more time to find a solution and came across your video. FIXED my problem and saved me $$$$. Thank you so much
After doing this process about 4 times, I got my black ink cartridge back from not printing at all, to printing like it was new. Thanks for posting, otherwise I may have given up and gone out to purchase a new unit.
Worked! Thank you so much! I haven't been able to use my printer in MONTHS and was so frustrated since I bought it last year and have only used a handful of times.
Hello ! I'm french, Thank you so much for your video. Thanks to you I just saved 100 euros! I watched several videos before yours and you are the best! I would like to thank you again. I wish you all the best.
Bonjour, je suis également Français et je posséde également une Hp 5520 qui n'imprime plus la couleur noir... l'astuce de la vidéo fonctionne vraiment ?
Great suggestion and video. Used a bit of white vinegar mixed with water and had to use the Clean Printhead function twice afterwards but it definitely worked and now prints black ink again.
Good video. Took a couple of tries, because I hadn't printed in several months on that printer, but it finally works. Now, I just have to remember to print something every week, so the ink doesn't dry up again.
Extremely helpful, and a lot cheaper than buying a new print head and breaking one of the ribbon cables or connectors. I think it is a secret that these can be cleaned without getting any of the electronics wet in this manner.
ya a star. life saver. scratched my head for days and was abt UK throw out my printer and order a new one till I found this video. my printer is as good as new. Thanks a bunch
@Marcin You are wonderful, fantastic, I did it, 5 hours and 5 times cleaning and the white block turned into small lines, a little more grey and now almost filled up. I should clean it ones more, but I ran out of paper for cleaning also!!!! THANK YOU SSSSSOOOOO MUCH! For everybody who still has a white block: keep on going! My printer was 3 years old and it kept on giving dirt...
Brilliant, it works. So simple and easy. It took me five times of cleaning with wet paper towels and not just the nozzle, the printer bottom was also full of dirt and ink stains. A good clean-up does clear the way. Thank you very much.
I was thinking I needed a new printer & spent hours online looking at them. Then I found this video. After about 10 paper towels (BTW I found thinner paper towels are better because the cartridge cradle slides over them a bit easier), 3 small glasses of water & detergent, several cleanings, 30 or 40 minutes & ink all over my fingers (I think I should've worn latex gloves) it is working again. So thank you so much for this video! 😄
Thanks Marcin. Your solution worked for me. I was thinking it was time to buy a replacement printer, but your solution has eliminated the need for now. Cheers
Thanks a lot Marcin - very simple procedure which worked perfectly for me - had no black ink printing and following this process all is well again - THANK YOU
totally worked. but few things to note. I had to replace the wet paper towel many times, maybe 8 times and moved the printer head across the paper many times until it did not have ink on it. I tried printing the test page and it was not perfect so I put another wet towel under the head and let it sit for an hour then dried everything up. then it worked perfectly.
Thanks! Great hack! I have an HP4625.. black doesnt print despite a new cartridge.. had to do the cleaning process 5-7x before getting a good enough print. Btw, theres a handle on both sides of the ink cartridge container which one can use to lift it a bit so its easier to move the printer head above the paper towel.
Thanks! It took about 20 times cleaning with new paper towels but now the printer prints like new.I realize now that the black printing had been getting lighter and lighter gradually.
Worked on HP 4615. After placing it in a corner for years, I need to print some paper at home due to COVID19 lock down, I found the black is missing and tried to clean the print head in software, which turn out to be useless and waste ton of ink. By following this video, the issue has been fixed very well. Except I spend a bit more time on step 5 and using a more powerful cleanser.
Thanks very much Marcin, worked well and did the job - I was getting a bit frustrated trying to use the printers "Clean Printhead" function which didn't work! Thanks again.
HP uses a vacuum pump to prime ink to the printhead and the vacuum tubes get clogged with ink. I disassembled my printer completely to remove the tubes and run a small wire and hot water or alcohol thru them to unclog them. It is not a procedure for the faint of heart (beginner). Also ran hot (not boiling) water thru the print head to completely flush them clean.
Very good presentation, I used boiling water mixed with Mr. Clean. This was the magic mixture to get my black ink to print. I’m sure this will work on all color heads if needed. Rich
Marcin, thanks for the video. I recently discovered that lying the cartridges on their side or upside down while cleaning the head introduces air into the cartridge as the ink settles. The vacuum effect of the remaining ink settling can draw in air which can have a detrimental effect on printing results when the cartridges are put back in the machine. Leave the cartridges upright 'nozzle down' on some blotting paper during the cleaning operation. Some ink may leak, but they remain air free.
Hi, You have just saved me hurling this printer towards my window ... These irritable technical problems cause so much aggravation and time delay. You've just saved me from being admitted into a psychiatric ward in Birmingham Institute for the I.T Insane this evening ... LOL
Thank you!!! It worked!! I had to do it several times with the wet paper towel and I had to run the ink cartridge holder back and forth over the wet paper towels before it was all clean/clear and then it worked.
This one worked for me. Hallelujah!! I was going to take out the whole printhead and clean it. But it's not easy to take it out from HP Photosmart 5014. Just repeated cleaning bottom of the printhead with slightly wet paper towel with alcohol and warm water. I still see slight streaky black lines, but it's much better improvement compared to no black ink at all. Thanks for the video.
This is really useful info because I am getting nowhere trying to use printer Tools even though I just bought new cartridges and it shows I have ink in all cartridges.
This is a much simpler option to opening the printer to extract and soak the printhead. I had to do it twice, but I saw an improvement after the first time. Don't give up too quickly.
Thanks very much I too was going to get a new printer but persisted with your method and it works ! Makes sense as heads can dry out if not used regularly so the soaking to soften the dry ink gets it all flowing again.
Thanks. That was a very helpful clear video. It solved my problem . It took quite a few cleans before it worked properly again so be persistent it really works .
