Today I will show you how I repaired my windshield that was leaking into my car. When it rained we would get a bunch of water into the bottom of our car by our feet. We placed a little product to close up the leak in our windshield. If you have any questions, leave comments below and we would love to answer them. We cannot be held responsible for any problems during your repairs or installations and cannot guarantee that this fixes your problems. Please take caution and wear appropriate safety gear. I really appreciate your diagnosis and proof. Recommend masking the areas you don’t want the sealant to cover with yellow frog tape. This will allow you to push the sealant into the gaps more aggressively and tool it to a smooth finish. Immediately remove the tape before the sealant skins over.

@BigAl-1 I just made a big mistake. Leak in truck and I found some permatex flowable silicone still in package, in garage. I knew about expiration with this kind of stuff but used it anyways. So after 3 days it was still tacky. Looked up date code and it expired in 2007

Best to go ahead and have the windshield removed cleaned and resealed. Can get through the smallest of spaces and before you know it, you’ve went around the whole windshield and it still leaks.

Remember when you poured water at the bottom off the windshield you will never find leak down there because water can never travel up. If you have water inside the car when you do that, that means your drain hole is clogged.

Same exact issue with me 13 civichad the windshield replaced by safelite because insurance covered it, about 5-6 months later i noticed the carpet was soaked, turns out it is leaking in the top corner of the inside seams above the headliner. Safelite tested it twice and said it wasnt the windshield but im not buying it, im taking it to a mom and pop auto glass shop to have the pull the glass and re seal it, i also was thinking it was the seam sealer in the roof channels but it still leaks

Why would a windshield be leaking like that?!
@BigAlRepairs
@BigAlRepairs 10 месяцев назад

@user-ew5pu8yz7d
@user-ew5pu8yz7d 9 месяцев назад
Because the windshield in this car was changed at some point and proper installation methods weren’t followed causing the bond to not correctly adhere between the glass, urethane and body. They likely didn’t clean, prep or prime. This is why you should always choose a certified auto glass shop, make sure and read their reviews. I’m an auto glass shop owner/operator and fix hack work like this everyday. I do thousands of cars a year and none of my installations leak.

It could also be a dried out seal to, it’s not always because of a windshield change. We had it happen to our factory windshield.
@timothyhua1477
@timothyhua1477 5 месяцев назад
Man you doing it all wrong and making it look like crap after awhile. Proper way to do it is remove the inside pillars and cock urethane along the seal and pressed it in and smooth it out with your finger.
