Hi. I am having a knightmare with this S30 Valve. It always leaks co2 from the main port. I did as you suggested. I carefully lifted the rubber hose covering the inlet ports and cleaned it. I also put a zip tie on it as others have suggested. I even bought a new lid with new S30 Valve. I'm all out of ideas. That's three different lids with valves I'm using. The gas is definitely making its way in but I just won't hold the pressure no matter how little I put in.
Sorry to hear you are having difficulties. If you have tried 3 different lids, are you swapping the valve to the new lid, or are these 3 different valves? You could also try blowing gas through the valve before you put it back on the keg. You may need to get someone to help, to blow the gas through as you lift the inside rubber cover. It could also be the lip of the keg not getting a geed seal with the o ring in the lid. Make sure you use lots of vaseline. If you are using a top tap, it could also be leaking gas from around the top tap. Perhaps use a little washing up liquid diluted with some water and put this around the valve / keg so you can see the bubbles and work out where the leak is.
Hey this is a very informative video thank you. I recently put my beer into a pressure barrel for 2 weeks before transferring it to a cold location. I got 5 or 6 pints out of it before it went flat. I put a Co2 canister into it before getting another 6 pints out of it, before it returned to being flat again. I spoke to a local home brew shop about it and they suggested that maybe the secondary fermentation wasn't complete. I brought it back in from the cold and wrapped it up again to get it fermenting. I put a Co2 canister into again to give the carbonation process a bit of a head start. I left it for 2 days and gave it another 8g shot of Co2. At this point around the seal it started to hiss, letting out the Co2. If the Co2 is escaping like that that would indicate to me that there is too much pressure in the barrel. If so, why is my beer going flat too quickly?
My valve is hissing quite a bit this time in secondary fermentation. My cheap non co2 cap did as well but not this much. It's hissing through the top of the valve. If I put my finger over the top the hissing stops briefly. Does that sound like a leak or just pressure releasing? Is that top part a release valve as well? I did prime quite heavily.
