If you are fighting an intermittent no-start on a 2004-2012 Nissan Titan then this may be the fix for you. It’s no guarantee, but there is a good chance that this could finally fix your problem.
Phenomenal video and a lifesaver due to me having the same issue currently on my 2012 Titan pro-4x. I love this truck and would like to continue using it moving forward so thank you!
Thanks for the video. I had same issue and your video helped me fix it. The metal is fine, I think it’s the grease used on the metal that gets funky. I took it apart and used Collinite metal cleaner / polish with a toothbrush to clean everything. Working great!
Just wanted to join the chorus of folks saying thank you for the video. I've only watched it about 7 times. I think I've found the switch only, fingers crossed.
@@Foxcanfixit so I got a new ignition switch the other day like we discussed. Started fine the first day, today went to start it. Everything powers up go to crank it, hear the starter click, no crank. Any thoughts. I did send you a DM on IG if that’s an easier platform to discuss on. Thanks
Man, I was sooo stoked to find this video! Been having this issue with my 2015 Titan for a while now and it’s been driving me nuts! I got the switch part and installed it this past weekend and it all seemed fine until 1/2 hour ago. I went to start my truck and the same old “click…click…click” and started on the 4th turn. I’ve got a brand new battery (less that 2weeks old), replaced the positive terminal and fuse connector, cleaned all of the contacts, new negative battery cable… Any idea what else it could be?
My Xterra 2014 pro4x 6m is doing same thing , could it be same thing ? Oh I see it’s the same part number . I’m going to try it before I get robbed by the stealership.
Hi, had a question, saw your video on intermittent starting on the Titan. Same issue 05’ Titan LE. Is the Nissan part number 48750-0M010 the right one. I crossed referenced it against my Vin and it said it wasn’t a match but it is supposed to fit all Nissans from 96’-2021 says Nissan Parts Deal. Just wondering. Thanks
@@russellmuller8777 Nissan doesn’t like or want to sell it separately, so I don’t think they provide and individual part number. However, the one I used was for XTerra and frontier trucks, and was a perfect match
I can’t say for sure, I only know that it will fit and possibly work for the 1st gen. Have you checked the forums at TitanTalk? They have a lot of good info
Honestly I just didn’t want to yank the starter because it’s a pain to get to and it’s expensive. Every time I tried to crank it I could still hear the starter solenoid click under the hood but no crank. I’m still not 💯 that it is the only issue, when the weather warms up if it does it again I am replacing the starter.
Hey man i really need some help, my dads 2010 titan turns on just fine and 5 minutes later it turns over and no start just turning over. And 5 more minutes later it turns on again it’s random and we aren’t sure what it is. We can get it on just fine sometimes and other times it just turns over and over but no ignition. Any ideas?? I took apart this switch and it had some burnt terminals I did clean it and ordered the part but even tho it’s clean it still not starting some times. Thanks!!
So it will crank but not start sometimes, and sometimes it starts right up? If so I don’t think that’s this switch, this switch has issues not letting it crank at all. A crank no start sounds like an ignition module issue
Amazing how none of the other channels even suggest changing this first. Seems they all want you to go straight to spending hours and hundreds of dollars without a mention of this simple fix. I have two 2012 Nissans, a Titan and an Armada. Both had the same no start issue at different times and both fixed with this simple repair.
It’s not a guaranteed fix, but it is a known weak point to replace before blaming the starter, which as you mentioned is an absolute bear to change in these trucks. Glad I could help. 😀👍
@@Foxcanfixit I actually fixed them before I found this video as I’m very mechanically inclined. But I’m glad to see someone posted a video on this fix instead of another one on the starter. 👍
I’m having the same problem on my 2012 Nissan Titan SV. Very sporadic but frustrating issue. Have had the truck checked before for alternator and starter problems, but both checked out fine. Would you happen to have the part number for my truck by chance? (Really awesome video!). Thanks a lot sir
There is no part number for the trucks, the part number I list in the video is for an X-terra which uses the same ignition switch key tumbler, so I used it for this repair
So I went to O’Reilly’s. They had a Direct Import brand since Beck and Arnley was a special order part with this store. The part number was 18-0536 “Switch/Interruptor”. I installed it just fine to my truck, but same issue as before. Can hear the solenoid click and have lights in the cab, but it’s not turning over. I’m headed to see if my battery is fully charged. If it is, we should be able to rule that out. What next? Starter? (Even though it’s been checked out and said to be ok?)
@@donrast2466 from everything I’ve read fixing mine the starter and or wiring connections at the starter are the next most likely things. Only other thing I would check if you haven’t already is trying to start it in park and in neutral to see if it’s the park/neutral safety switch
What year is your Titan ? I tried to get the ignition switch for my 2004 and they said it only comes as the whole assembly for $800 . I used the part number you posted on Nissan parts online and they said it wasn't for my truck.
Could not find it for the Titan, only came with the entire key and tumbler assembly. Strangely the XTerra and Frontier use the same key and tumbler setup but you can get the switch separately
I am thinking the same thing now. Just after I posted my comment, the truck will only start in neutral, or if cycle the column shifter. I'm going to try and reset/adjust the shifter cable first because the safety switch is integrated into the TCM, and the TCM on the Titan is integrated into the transmission valve body. @@Foxcanfixit
Anyone know what this part number is? I can't find just what he is swapping out. I have the same type of issue, turn key, no start, takes a bit of turning and then starts....
Beck-Arnley #201-1825 is what I used. I believe it was listed for a Nissan XTerra, frontier XTerra pathfinder and Titan ignitions were all the same then
I worked in auto repair all my life. When they started putting computers in vehicles l was told. Always take off the negative first. If you take off the positive first and arc the wrench against the vehicle frame you'll fry the computer.
I nave an 04 titan with this same issue. I have noticed what helps it crank and start is putting the truck on neutral and once it slowly rolls forward or backwards it turns in no problem. Would this be a starter issue?
