Thank you so much, that seems to have fixed my problem. I did a little digging to try to understand what those numbers mean. 1: "System-Specifies a driver that loads and starts during kernel initialization after drivers with a Start value of 0 have been started." 3: "On Demand-Specifies a driver or service that the Service Control Manager (SCM) will start only on demand." So choosing 1 means the driver is loaded automatically when Windows starts, with 3 the driver will start when Windows sees a need for it, which is why it would (usually) start if I kept hitting a key when Windows was booting.
@@aksharpatel1097 Why not? As long as you don't do anything too far off you shouldn't break Windows. I'm STILL Having the problem, it's just not as bad. Windows never sees my keyboard at a cold boot, but when it's rebooted it always sees it.... so for me the "fix" is to start the computer, then reboot it.
Dude , I can't believe this actually worked. I am typing this message from my PS/2 keyboard :)) I tried different solutions from Microsoft Community and the right solution was on Yt, at a 2-3 minutes video. Thank you very very much.
Works perfectly. Fast, concise, straight to the point tutorial. If only every problem had an instruction how to fix it like this video provides. Thank you for making and uploading this.
Half an hour of google searches were no help, yours was the first video listed and it did the trick. Thank you very much for the step-by-step guide, my good man. A true gentleman and scholar.
My man, I feel like hugging you! Spent the better part of the last 10 hours trying various fixes, after a driver updater software disabled my laptop keyboard and mousepad, with Windows somehow failing to revert to backup points, and each convoluted fix offered online would just keep breaking more stuff. Eventually found the name of the port on my own (by fiddling through Windows sub-menus intuitively and safely), googled it, found your video, such a simple, straightforward fix, puts the dozens of labirynthian tutorials I read to shame!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart and may God bless you and your family.I recently put together an am4 build,I have a Gigabyte aorus B550 pro AC with wifi and an AMD Ryzen 5 3600X cpu.I was getting all messed up because my Device Manager insisted on showing that I had a standard ps/2 keyboard plugged into my motherboard without any drivers and what I have and always use is a usb keyboard so I don't know why "Broken Windows 10 pro" put a standard ps/2 keyboard in my Device Manager because my Gigabyte aorus B550 pro AC doesn't have any ps/2 connectors at all.I tried to uninstall the standard ps/2 keyboard from my Device Manager and I couldn't get it to uninstall no matter how many times I tried.I also searched for generic drivers for a standard ps/2 keyboard and I couldn't find any. Finally I came across your video and thank the good Lord (blessed and praised be His name,Amen.) your video helped me to permanently remove the standard ps/2 keyboard from my Device Manager.I can't thank you enough. If I could give you twenty thumbs up and much more I would because you deserve that.
THIS ACTUALLY WORKED You don't know how long I've been struggling not being able to use ctrl for like a month and nothing else worked. Thank you so much, now all my keys are working!!
Thank you, it was so helpful, my ps/2 port wasn't working, just 3 blinking once and then not recognized even with a ps2/USB converter, but I did the regedit that you suggested and the amount for start was 3, after changing it to 1 and restarting system it worked. Good job👍👌
@@TheHowToGuy123 I can't believe you said that, can't get into the computer to do regedit, which I know how to use. You really need to go to a regular person's house and watch their computer and it would be evident!
Thank you so much. I had a TVS feather touch keyboard that was PS/2 and I didn't realize that the windows 10 upgrade what the culprit that forced me to change to a USB keybhoard. The instructions in your video got my old PS/2 keyboardf working and I am now enjoying it again. Thanks a ton.
Can confirm, this does work. My cheap keyboard bit the dust when I spilt a soda on it but I remembered I had a Ps/2 keyboard from emachines. My mobo is a b450 a pro max, this video saved my life.. well.. helped me get back to my games quicker
I plugged in a new usb keyboard and now I’m switching to ps2 keyboard again. I had this problem and this video really helped me out. It works again. Thanks
You may update the PS2 mouse driver from Device Manager manually and check if this helps. Press (Windows key + X) and click on “Device Manager”. Expand “Mouse” or “Mice and other pointing devices”. Right click on the driver and select “Update Driver Software”. Once this is done, restart the computer and check if the issue persists.
Modifying the "Start" value from 3 to 1 did not work for me, but modifying the "Start" value to 2 did work for me. Now I can use my favorite PS/2 keyboard with Windows 10. Thanks.
wow man you have no idea how much this helped after hours of googling the problem. I had reset my cmos and when I turned back my pc the keyboard was just out. Thank you very much.
Thank you very much! I had no idea that this would work, and from multiple videos that i've watched, this one actually worked. Saved me hundreds of dollars and earnt a subscriber!
Thank you for showing the virtual keyboard. Please note that Ease Of Access was buried and took quite a while to find, but once I got it, I could follow the required steps.
EPIC! Thanks for the quick and easy guide! Esp love that you showed how to launch the onscreen keyboard, which none of the higher "top search results" did. Actually, none of them even mentioned regedit! This should be the top result, Google!!!
thank you very very very much... my mom hide usb keyboard for not playing pubg...now i can play with old ps2 keyboard. i am subscribing and i am with you to support😇😇😇
Replaced my PS2 Keyboard about Month ago (previous one was looking old). This morning the new one wouldn't come to life and I thought I had bought a dud. Found this tutorial, and tried it. Now working beautifully. Thanks a lot. (Yes, I know PS2 keyboards are old technology...but I like the 'Wake up BIOS' feature which is only available on PS2).
Thanks man it worked! I removed the PS2 keyboard from the port without turning off PC and reinserted it. Even after turning off and retrying multiple times didnt work. Luckily this worked.
Thanks man that fixed it, my only criticism is that for really short video you can trim down the intro to be like 0.5 to one second or just take it out entirely
thanks, bro you saved mt life i did something on my sister"s laptop and then the keyboard stopped working and you saved my from her she is sleeping right now and by watching your video I just corrected the error thanks again man
Thank you very much. The onscreen keyboard helped type in regedit. It took 2 restarts and then a startup from a cold shutdown to finally get it working. Seems last Win 10 update took out the ps2 ports, mouse and keyboard interface.
Thank you mate for help! Just spill my drink to keyboard and have to get my old PS/2 one as replacement. Worked in BIOS, but no way in Wn10, u video saved me!
Thanks a lot mate. I though my Logitech Access keyboards was bound to die but thanks to this video now I can keep using it on my parent's pc which has pc/2 connector. Of course, liked and added to favorites.
OK, tell us how you did it when your keyboard, didn't work, yeah, stop lying. WE are working to have all these kinds of videos taken down, they are deceiving!
Try increasing your mouse sensitivity. Hit the Windows icon on the task bar, and then look for a gear outline. Now inside settings, click in the outlined box above. Type in "mouse speed", and click the result. Now you have settings for speed! Hope this helped!
Thanks so much I thought I was gonna have to open up my laptop and check to see if something was unplugged. I would give you every dollar I own if I could
Great video. I have a 2002 systemax keyboard with windows 10 and the keyboard refused to work but the computer was reading the connection. Followed this video and everything is gravy
THANK YOU SO MUCHHH IT FIX MY KEYBOARDD. Last time it had a problem on the S,0,5,6,cpslck and f5 key but now it's fix and i can finally type in peace :)
Thank you very much man! It worked just fine, I recently got a vintage Compaq keyboard and I was scared it didnt work when I plugged it in and nothing happened.
I have a double problem ... Both PS/2 keyboard and mouse just stop working..It was working a few months ago..and I tried it today and had one problem then restarted after jiggling the ports connectors and now both are irresponsive.
May 2021, just wanna update and say that this method still works great :)). Thanks bud, I thought my keyboard was dead but all the pc needed was a lil tinkering
Great video, super useful I've been using an old Microsoft ergo-keyboard form the late 90s for some time now. I love the thing but it straight up stopped working the other day (best guess after windows update IDK) Works fine after instructions thanks M8!!! 👍
Thanks man.....i don't know how to thank you for this. I was just about to cry. My heartbeat was at its peak when my keyboard was not working. Thanks again ❤️❤️❤️
