Excellent. I accidently turned the knob to far while cleaning for a neighbor and the knob and nut popped off. Your trick to get the nut out was great. Model 7021 Brazil. Thanks!
Just FYI, I bought my 6217c new around 1975? It was made in Brazil also… looks exactly like this. And almost 50 years later it’s still going strong (even though it fell down a flight of stairs!) I need to adjust the tension so thanks so much for this instruction!!
We need a closer look at what you are doing! Never mind! After watching it twice, my machine is fixed. What a lifesaver. Back to sewing face masks. Thank you
Dudes! I drove across country with my Singer 7105 which is very similar to this and something bad happened to this tension thing! I just fixed it with your help! Stitching curtains in California thx again!!1.
Just wish you were zoomed in a bit a more at the actually issue throughout the whole video. Nonetheless, thanks for taking the time to do it. I was just given one of these machines, so I have yet to check it out to see if it even works. Thanks!
I picked up exactly this machine Singer 6215, without any manuals... and I found your video .. thank you so very much for all the tension troubleshooting... could you please have a video on how to wind bobbins on this machine? It doesn't have a bobbin winder on the top. So glad I found this video ! :)
I have a 6211 and I'm hoping this tutorial works. It's very similar. I've always been lost around my machine, I'm self taught, I'd kill to have this guy's skills
Here's that other video, it's not the exact same machine but it's the same mechanism. Hope it helps! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-M1kXDd5GLEE.html
This video was very helpful as I have the same sewing machine. I am unable to find anything anywhere on how to operate this sewing machine. I would really appreciate it if you could upload a few videos on how to operate this sewing machine, how to thread the bobbin, how to do all the patterns shown on the machine etc. The machine is old so I can't find the manual anywhere so I would really be grateful if you did this. Thank you again for this video. Hope you consider my request.
Thanks for this informative video. Because of it I am pretty certain the tension release cup is my issue with my Singer 6105. Lift the release but tension doesn’t release. The tension assembly is working fine. You mentioned you changed a lot of them. I have been unable to find just the cup. Looks like I have to buy the entire tension assembly to get that one little part. Is that the case? Thanks!!!!!!
Even set at max, the tension on my machine is too loose. At 1:21, how do you get the tension post to come off? Also how do you get the left side of the machine off to oil it?
Awesome Mr Burley I was surprise and happy to find you video! I have exactly the same sawing maching you show there and the tutorial was great !,, I will try now to see if I can fix the tension problem. I am having problems will the way the stich looks is very small, please can you help. Hoping you can answer back. Thanks much.
Thanks Burly Sew! I have what looks to be the same machine but it's called a Sonata 6606. I can't figure out how to remove the top cover due to the adjustment knobs sticking out of the front. My machine is running slow and I just wanted to examine everything and make sure it was well lubricated. Any suggestions?
Hi Susan, I don't think the front part of machine where knobs are comes off I have a similar model and I took top off to oil & clean and it stayed put part around knobs. Hope this helps you.
Hi Susan I don't know whether you ever got the top cover off, but I have a similar machine (a 3105) and also had problems getting the top off with those levers in the way at the front. I realized that the bobbin winder thing that sticks up through a hole at the top was in the way too, so the way I did it, which may or may not be correct, but I've done it several times now with no damage, is this - when you have unscrewed the two screws at the top, lift the cover up and ease it gently up and over that bobbin thing and then you can also get it quite easily over the levers.
Omgosh!! Same here!! I also have a SINGER/Sonata 6606!!! Can't find ANYTHING about how to get the dang cover off either. I believe I received mine in the 70's or 80's (from my parents, on my Bday) So YEAH, I really need to get this cover off!! I still Love her! LOL!!
I didn’t get to see how you took the tension knob off. It was already off in the video. I’m having trouble now with this model getting the tension cover off so I can clean the discs that totally rusted out.
Hello Burley Sew. I have a Singer 9410 and the Handwheel is missing the inside wheel. I have an old machine the have the handwheel; I want to replace the handwheel. I can't take the handwheel off. Do you have a video showing how to remove a handwheel and then replacing one.
Mr Burley - I have a National 625 sewing machine that has an oscillating hook type shuttle. The machine is about 20 years old and worked great until today. When sewing some thick fabric I have created a hook timing issue and can not find an adjusting screw to get the machine back to normal. Do you know anything about these machines? I would like to try to fix it myself.
I've just bought myself an singer fashion Mate 252 is old , falls in love her but the something is wrong and got tangled up the thread now I can lock and do not want to work seems to be the pulleys from below does not lift the thread down because it lasts lasts does not work that move help me please what can I do?
hi there! I have a similar machine, the 6212c, and the "feed regulator knob", which I thought was a reverse button, fell off when moving. This is the button in the middle of the stitch width dial on the right, which you adjust toward the end of the video. now when I put the button back on, it is loose and there is nothing to hold it back on. Do you have any information on what is behind this button? Did I lose a piece? thanks!
I have this machine, it's threaded right but the thread is not being pulled thru that tension adjuster...what do I do? I can't seem to pull the knob off either...
This instructional video is great! I would like someone to show me how to adjust the length of the stitch, on this machnine. i inherited this machine and have no instructions. Thank you, Cheryl
Do you have any videos on how to retread a singer overlock/serger, the store My hubby purchased for me, it from said I'd get classes but I never knew that, the cat unstrung it from mast,
hi i have some problem with my samba 2 ... could you be so kond and help me... the machine is only working if the stitch lenght is on number 5 and the threat tension at number 0/1 ... if i do stitch lenght 3 or 4 it sew only on one position the same if i adjust the threat tension ... probably something wrong with threat tension dial or the stitch lenght ... i dont know ... hopefully you can help me
Hi Guy's do you know how to fix a singer touch & sew 758 the needle stays in the left needle position but the needle position knob is in the centre position I tried to adjust this but it just won't go in the middle position?? It's nothing to do with the knob I tried for hours on end I got frustrated and walked away from it. What started it off is I adjusted the timing with the cams which works now but this has happened??
hi, I have the model 6251, problems with the bottom bobbin, do you have any video's on that, my machine is almost similar to that one on the video yes it is from around 1980's or 90's. thank you ....please respond...ED
I have an earlier model/version of the one on your video. Singer 4528 but it look like the tension is the same one I have. My problem is that i took apart the tension and now I can't make it work, I was looking at your video, but you don't go as far as taking out the rest of the pieces and that's what I need to see. Please help! Thanks.
Thanks for this informative video! I have a similar tensioner on my 1983 Canadian-made Singer 6136, but I never knew the tension was supposed to be released when the presser foot is in the "up" position until I heard you mention it! I've been hand pulling extra thread from the tensioner every time I end a seam to prevent it from pulling out of the needle (what a hassle)! You say the center tab on the "+ | -" ring controls this function, so I checked mine, but it looks intact. Is there something else I should check? Could either of the following be the cause? 1) I somehow broke the tiny tab stop on the inside of the "+ | -" ring (this tab prevents it from rotating by catching on the beehive spring). I haven't bothered to replace it because it didn't seem important --or is it? 2) The tension disks are corroded. Can I buff them clean or will that change their shape and affect their function? Thanks again!
Hi guys! I posted a comment the other day with a question on how to replace the plastic tension dial (which goes on the "nut" as you call it.) But today I can't find my comment on this list and I'm wondering if it has been somehow removed. I don't know how you handle these comments and if I want you to answer a question, is this the right place to ask?
What is the type of Bobben that goes in the singer Merritt 4530? The thread breaks every eight stitches it breaks on the Bobben. So every threaded it 60 million times in nine months and only stitched 1 inch. So many videos but no one ever shows the type of Bob and actually goes in this specific machine and how deep it supposed to go or if it's supposed to be rounded or a flat bobbin. I've never had this issue with any singer so fro or Elna or Hysqvarna machine. OK so I was again spending the entire night looking at what type of Bobbin case I need for this machine and it did say Apollo and I redid the search a couple hundred times with 4530 Merritt and it still came up with Apollo which didn't make sense because I was looking for bobbin case that said Merritt 4530. Yeah I'm kind of bummed I have the skimpy plastic handle so it must be newer than the one that you're showing in this vid.
Hello, I have a elna 634 serger and was wondering if you can point me to how to rethread it, step by step, the picture on machine is way to small, also my other question is the left needle feeding, it stitches straight, should that be part of the loop tail from 3&4 thank you
