Hey man, thank you. I have an 04 Mach 1 but the AC system is largely the same. It was bone dry and couldn't charge it, your tip worked. I owe you a beer.
So I did this and I went to turn my a/c up and the paper clip touched metal there was a spark and now the fan won’t engage when I put the paper clip in? What did I do?
Why is the paper clip needed before you can charge it? I put my freon in and the clutch was engaging and disengaging periodically. I felt car get cold. The next day it was not getting cold anymore. Thoughts.
The paper clip is to bypass the pressure switch, in order to engage the clutch…. The paper clip is only needed if the Freon is so low that the clutch will not engage on its own in order to charge… if your clutch is engaging and you were able to charge but it wasn’t cold the next day, then you need to charge again and put the leak sealant… if that doesn’t hold, then your leak is to big to be sealed…
@@joey3375 My 1999 Cobra is having the same issue, however when it jump the switch like you in the video, the clutch will engage and spin for a few seconds then stop and cycle. Could this be related to low freon? Sometimes it will stop and not engage until i take the paper clip out and jump it again.
@@Austin-jm4gr Yes you are correct, leave the paperclip in as you charge, once the freon reaches a certain level, the compressor clutch will run more frequent
