Wow wow wow i fixed my scoop in 10 seconds because of you. Thanks. Thank God I saw your video cuz the last video was gonna have me pulling out pliers and doing wayyyyy too much work. Now I have to go make cookies. THANKS!
Ok you just saved me some serious money!!! I was about to go get a drill and metal pin..... but it’s already fixed! This should be included in all packaging for the product (with commission to you of course!). Lol...... thank you!
Saved my bacon just now. Wife was upset about me “breaking” her new scoop…successfully out of the doghouse thanks to your wonderful disclosure in the intro that this does happen to other people and that I do know my own ass from a hole in the ground. lol
Thank you! I was about to toss my scoop across the room! The arm has gotten stuck somehow and while it was in the right "off" position, it couldn't clear the mid point of the scoop. I popped it open further and then used your trick to rest the arm.
Thank you so much. All three of my cookie scoops were out of line. I thought i would have to throw them out. Yay so easy to fix and now I dont have to buy new ones. Thank you Thank you Thank you.
This method actually broke my brand new oxo cookie scoop. It broke the soldering that held the blade to the vertical post so now the post just rotates and the blade stays put.
@@crapcopter Nope. Ended up breaking it even worse and throwing it out. Even though this is marketed as an ice cream scoop, I don't think I would ever use it as one ever again. Any time I've had one, and scooped out ice cream that was even a little bit hard, the thing broke. Think I'll stick to the regular ones to be safe. These are really handy if you bake though! Can get really clean portions of batter into muffin cups without having it drip everywhere. And the smaller ones are great for cookies.
@@ShesAaRebel i just figured out how, get some pliers and bend the flat part in the back upwards. Then you can just move the shaft of the scooper, then bend it back
This didn't work for me either. First, check your gear teeth. Are they dented or look chewed up? If so, it's bound to happen again, even if (especially if) you do fix it like she says here. I can't figure out how hers is working unless the shaft is slipping within the gear or the gear teeth are grinding/pressing against each other, in which case, it's making the problem more likely to happen again. The only way to fix it without hurting it more is to take it apart and realign it, either the "right" or the "wrong" way. At least on mine. I couldn't bend the metal tab, so I pulled off the end cap. It went back on just fine, at least the first time.
I sell ice cream in mèxico ,I've had a scooper for 42 years and never got broken , it was made in Korea but unfortunately they don't make them like that any more. I'I've tried many scoopers , all of them are trash , they don't last a week.
It has to be reset at the gear on the opposite end of the handle from the scoop. Watch how it works and then adjust it accordingly by prying the tab apart far enough to release the gear. Once you have it in the correct setting squeeze the tab back in place with channel locks or pliers. You may have to adjust it a few times before you get the correct setting but don’t let that frustrate you. Keep trying and you’ll figure it out. If the gear itself, or the teeth the gear turns on are damaged or worn, save yourself some time and get another one. Remember, you get what you pay for. The ones at the dollar store, or similar places, are pretty much junk. Pampered chef makes a pretty good one but I’ve had to readjust mine occasionally, especially if using on refrigerated cookie dough. Hope this helps!
