One thing I forgot to mention: Check the tape of the cassette you are using. If the tape in crumpled and mushed, it will always have issues. If the tape is smooth, your cassette should be fine. all my videos got blured ? Is that because of cam or casstes? As they r very old . I believe its because of cassttes i wqnt to recover those videos is there any way?

oh my gosh im so glad, i got this sony dcr-trv 22 from goodwill in perfect condition, it played and recorded perfectly. recently i accidentally dropped it and have this same glitch, i thought it was broken and i was gonna have to buy a new one. will be trying this soon tysm.

I have a panasonic PV-610 camera (don't have a VCR) that I play back my old movies on and have been trying to convert to dvds, and only one of my VHS tapes plays in fast forward mode, how can I fix that tape?

If you already converted the other tapes, I would just open up the broken & the converted tapes and transfer the tape spindles in a carefull manner

For me it’s the video glitching. Audio is fine it’s just the video glitches whenever I play it back.

Hi, I have a Panasonic PV GS90P. Do you have any idea why when I replay footage it gives me the audio but just a black screen? I was previously able to watch it again just fine

Thank you for all the information! In my case, I have audio dropping in and out but I think it's the tapes. I have yet to check all of them. I have 13 tapes that run from 2006 to 2014. It seems like it's not a coincidence: the most recent three tapes were all Sony premium digital video cassettes, and so far only those tapes have audio problems. Other, older tapes made by Maxell and Fuji have no issues. I did clean the tape heads once using the Panasonic cleaner which I did nothing. It could be that there was a microphone issue at the time of recording, but I think I remember that the taped played back OK at the time. Such a shame, there was a wedding and the music was SO good. Any thoughts? (Camera is Canon Elura 100)

Well, I think I answered my own question. What seemed to solve he problem was to fast forward the tape to the end, and then rewind it back to the beginning. I think I had done that initially, but doing it one more time was key. Maybe the tape was sitting around so long that it was a little "sticky" and wasn't passing through the heads in the correct way?

@@mikem4814 That might have been it. Running the tapes back forth a few times can be a good practice to keep the tape "loose" or something

2:50 what if this piece of black rubber comes off? How do you make it stay in place? -edit: do you find it common for the camera to not have any sound while playing a tape

1. That is what is known as the pinch roller. If you have a broken pinch roller ( which is very, very rare), you might have to disassemble the whole camera to replace it. The pinch roller has many parts as well (locking plastic clip, staff, etc). Check this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-goA86aLY4fk.html 2. Yes, sometimes my camera will act a little bit weird and will not record/play any audio. To fix this, I will run the entire tape from the end, and then back to where I want to record. This way, I am cleaning the record head a little bit. I try not to use cleaning tapes too much because they can wear out & can only be used 50 times.

Try cleaning the spinning drum manually with a swab. There are a few youtube videos showing how to do this carefully.

@@koltinn Either you need to clean the head with a cleaning tape or swab, or try to adjust the video head alignment with a screwdriver as demonstrated in the video.
