How to fix Dyson suction problem. Loss of suction. Standing problem. Dc18. Check the ports for any debris that will clog the Dyson. A stuck hair tie will only collect more hair and debris until it becomes a dam and cause you to lose suction. Find this secret port I found and finger it until all the debris is removed.

My friend hates to admit this to her friends, but this was her favorite Christmas present. ru-vid.comUgkx8ISPQRRAfpAaX4msGjyodObTBnlj4T5g While I used to do the floors, since she hated doing them, this has changed things in our house. In one easy to use motion it sucks, dampens, cleans and dries the floor with a super clean and walk on a minute later surface. Load up the tank with solution and water to make it ready is about all you have to do. The big tank setting will do our kitchen, dinning room, hallway and entry with no problems. We do a light vacuum or sweep first to get rid of the big stuff, but if you floor isn't that bad, you wouldn't have too. We have kids, dog, neighbor kids, and winter crud, so our floors are usually that bad. It will handle anything, but just gets dirty faster and more hair is why we might get the big stuff. We can do everything from pulling it out to sucking to cleaned up in about 30 minutes, so it makes it quick and easy. Biggest thing is the floors are pretty much dry after you move the vacuum over them. No tracking, waiting, or foot prints everywhere. Cleaning is easy with sink rinse and let it air out a bit to dry. 5 minutes to cleanup and set to dry.I give credit to my sister, as she is a professional clean freak and this is her baby with about 1,000 sft of floor that has to be cleaned. She LOVES this and that is why we now have one. Great buy!

I think your voice is soothing and you explain things in a way that is easy and simple to understand. You should consider being a teacher... Of math or something complicated so you can bridge the gap of confusion and complication. -Keep making videos your efforts are appreciated 🙏

Thanks a bunch! It was clog of pine needles (real Christmas tree) and dog hair in the 2nd area you outlined. I never realized either part disconnected. Funniest part…I found this video 4 hours after I bought a replacement! Picked up a V12 Slim Absolute today. 😂. I was just cleaning up the DC18 to give to a friend. 15 years after purchasing the DC18 and this thing is still a beast!

Thanks for the helpful video. I got a practically brand new Dyson DC18 for $7.49 when I turned it on the motor was screaming but no suction. Your video did the trick. Thanks !!!

I Cannot tell you how much I appreciate your know how and generosity in sharing it with the world. I had the suction and standing upright problem and googled for a solution. One of the sites that came up was a total sleeze who said that the whole lower assembly had to be replaced, and of course his shop could do it. He could learn a lot from you. Again thank you very much!!

Schwack.... exactly what my machine was doing!! As well as sticking while turning off and on. I had no debris in my port valve, rather it had gone, unassisted down 3 stairs, and lodged into the wrong stop. Needed to use a screwdriver to move the port value to the proper spot. Thank you thank you thank you,

Thank you for the video. That’s exactly what my problem was. There’s no debris there but it won’t close. It sounds a little gritty when I use my finger to move it around. I got it to suction after I manually opened it but it didn’t close back up. 😅

Awesome, thank you! Mine wasn't clogged, but it turns out the plastic that causes the foot to spin the wheel, which in turn causes that valve to flip, was broken. Manually moved it and suction returned. Thanks again!

Thanx, i didn't know those were linked as the springs for the stand up lever have sprung away already, as has the dual clips 4 the powerhead, -a well placed screw is holding 1 clip to keep it on.. You'd be proud, I just hacked a fix for the always breached hose to the power·head attachment. The hose will come off its friction ring on the main body side by working a large flat screwdriver inbetw the main body & the light gray plastic where the hose comes from, (& usually where the hose has torn), it then just slips out of the machine in the same direction, nothing is holding it at the other end. I used abt 5 inches of a 1.5" inch circumference bike inner·tube, to cover it from the main end down, like a sock & taped in onto the plastic a bit. A bit of a fight to get it on right, but once its on your golden, just lube up the friction ring on both sides a bit w anything (don't use much), push it back, wiggle it, you should hear it snap back in place & you're good to go !

there is a piece that is broken on mine so that when I change the position with the foot pedal, that valve doesn't move. But I would not have known that was the problem without your video so thank you. Now I have to figure out how much of that mechanism I have to replace and if I can get the parts or whether I will just change it manually everytime I want to use the wand.

Thanks so much. This was exactly the problem with our DC18. Sadly, while it was clogged we forced the latch to work and broke off the thing that makes it switch from floor suction to hose suction.

Dude, you are a stud. I finally found your video and figured out my problem. In may case, the plastic lever that engages the wheel had broken so only the wand was getting suction, not the front vacuum piece. I guess I'll have to try and get a whole new rear bracket from Dyson, if possible. I've manually pushed it into place so the front part sucks again and not use the wand unless necessary and remember to manually flip the valve back into place. Cheers to you!

Exact same problem, this video helped me at least realize what part of the vacuum shifts from hose to base suction though. Thanks for the vid!

I actually had some debris stuck at the bottom of the wand, so when I would use the wand, it didn't have very much suction. I detached the hose like he showed and looked in with a flashlight and saw the debris. By tapping the wand upside down on the floor, the debris came to the top, and I used a bent paperclip as a hook to pull it out. Thanks!

Great video. It helped me get mine 80% fixed. I think I need to do a bit more prodding in that back hose port, as the valve (and red lever) still don't close all the way. Mu guess is it's a hair tie. I find those and bobby pins all over the place.

Bill Swallow your latch on the left side may have broken off. I just found a video and realized that's why mine wasn't switching and the red pedal won't stay. It's broken

yea well if the link-edge that moves the valve is broke on the left side there's nothing that rotates the clear plastic piece to move the valve. The link-edge can brake and leave the valve in operative and it must be discovered and moved to move the valve by hand.
