A few months ago I did a video to show you how to install Steam on a Chromebook. I've had a few comments since then with some users not being able to install Steam. This video is a walkthrough of some of the errors you may get when installing Steam on Chrome OS and how to fix them.

it keeps saying libc6-i386 has no installation candidate. It says the package is missing has been obsoleted or is only available from another source. However the following packages replace it. Libc6:i386 Please help I've been trying for 5 hours to get steam on Lenovo Chromebook. Still has libc.so.6 error

help me it says dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.

I have not seen this issue before. I only see this after trying to play some games I've installed. Perhaps Google your issue to see if anyone else has had the same problem and know about a fix.

how do you fix the loading screen? I'm trying to play a game and whenever I try to play it it just gets stuck on the black screen with the steam logo and starts to load forever, and then kicks me out to the beggining!

You'll need to check on Google for the specific game. Not all games will play.

So I thought it worked because I followed the whole video and everything seemed to go exactly as how it was going on your screen but then at the very end when I went to play my game it said "Failed to initialize Player"? Any idea what to do for this? Anyone? And if i put in another command and it doesn't work will i need to start all over or?? Thank you in advance I greatly appreciate it!!!

You need to either increase the VM space or your Linux space, which one you'll need to check for yourself as I'd have no idea on that.

For some reason i can't install any games of my chromebook. I downloaded steam off of the playstore, set up an account and on the site but when i want to download a free game(TF2) it asks if i have steam installed or not. I click yes and nothing happens but if i say no, it takes me to the site. Can someone help

You need to give an external drive access to Linux each time it's connected. I need to do a video on this because there may be situations where it will not possibly work, but I don't know until I look into it.

Make sure you're entering the commands exactly as stated. It's very easy to get them wrong. If it doesn't then I'd suggest using Google for the command that hasn't worked for you to find out more. Also, make sure you use sudo apt update and then sudo apt upgrade. This will ensure your Linux is up to date. Best to use those two commands first.

Some games don't work and you can get a black screen. It's just a case of checking out different games to see what works. Also choosing different compatibility layers can help. Google the game in question and see what compatibility layer may work.

@@ChromeComputingTV no it's not a game. It's the whole thing. I click on steam and it's just a black screen but the mouse reacts as if it's hovering over stuff. So it's like it loaded but I can't see anything. Black screen. But I can go to the top right corner and click and it exits as if I'm clicking the x to exit.

Watching this you open chrome then type Google to do a Google search why not just start typing in the omnibar… hopefully save some time.
