Thank you.. some very good techniques definitely ideas that can come handy sometimes... but at the cost of board and time to repair maybe it's just better to buy a peice of off cut and cut a new panel
@dienekes4364
@dienekes4364 3 года назад
Thanks, Captain Obvious. He's talking about _ALTERNATIVES_ to buying a new piece. Getting a new board and cutting it isn't always the easiest or cheapest option and sometimes it's just simply NOT an option.
@EvoKeremidarov
@EvoKeremidarov 3 года назад
@@dienekes4364 Captain Obvious? Wow how original.. you must be Captain Clever himself.. or perhaps you could have read my comment before you shoot your mouth as I never suggested that anyone should get a "new" board... just a cutoff from another job as a way to save some time and effort perhaps... other than that why so serious mate? Bad day?

The booth type particle board table in my camper which slides into one of two clips to either set at table height or bed height had been improperly handled and broke the screwed in clips taking a hunk of particle board with it. Rather that completely rebuild the table top which would have involved new Formica. I opted to make a quick jig and routed out a square where the break-out was and then glue in a matching square of plywood. Then routed it flush with the underside and then installed the clips onto the plywood. Much quicker than a rebuild.

Hey mate, how is the fix holding up 1 year later? I'm about to try a fix on some chipboard and am investigating all options first. Cheers
@Grumpyneanderthal
@Grumpyneanderthal Год назад
@@Pabloworldwide it’s solid. I would recommend using polyurethane construction adhesive rather than wood glue. Also make the replacement square about 1 to 2 inches wider than the chipped area to achieve solid adhesion

Yes, I thought the same when I saw him blowing hot air onto his hand, but the iron can leave some nasty marks on the surface if you're not careful. The heat gun could leave nasty marks on your hand, yes, but you obviously care about the furniture more.
