Wooo more Acura Content knew there was a reason I'm still subbed! Love that the Second Gen CL/TL is getting some more attention on RU-vid especially since they're the most under-rated Cars of all time because of that damned transmission. If you replaced it with a more reliable Accord V6 Auto from 06-07 then these cars are bullet proof and easy to maintain cars. If you have the Holy grail 2003 CL Type S with the 6 speed manual, then you have the best daily driving car of all time imo.
the 6speed auto's are honda's best transmission tbh lol. The new 10 speed is getting some good reviews so far, only time will tell how reliable those things are. You just can't beat a honda manual though.
@@SpikeRazzor They used to make really solid 4 speed Autos way back in the day in the 80s to early 90s. Yeah they shifted a little harsh and were slow but they were reliable and got the job done.

My type s doesn’t have 3rd gear I’ve tried changing the fluid but the thing is it doesn’t make any sounds no grinding or crunches do you have any idea what could be the problem? Thanks!
Hopefully you won't be plagued with any issues with the transmission. I'm on my second 5th gen Altima and you know how those transmissions can be. Luckily no issues with either *knock on wood.
These cars are unpredictable man. I bought a 2003 tl, drain and filled the trans fluid and 6 months later out of nowhere my transmission started having issues. i just recently changed the filter and drained the fluid again... Hopefully it help otherwise I will be out $4k😔 as I don't think it would be worth fixing the car. I may try lucas transmission fix as a final desperation.
That's why I ended up selling mine. It never had any problems but was afraid to drive it because I was worried the Trans would blow. Comfy car otherwise.
@@DNALI I own a 2003 CL with the 5 speed automatic. Ran nice for a few yrs and then the transmission went. I had it rebuilt. Drove it for a few months and I bought a civic and just let the CL sit for like 6 yrs. I wanna get it going again. These cars are beautiful, but unfortunately their transmissions suck.
I bought a 2001 cl type s brand new and blew 5 transmissions yes FIVE replaced! 3 were warrantied and 2 payed out of pocket. Biggest piece of garbage transmission of any car.
I’ve daily driven my 01’ CLS for 16 years, yes 16. Still running on the 2nd transmission that was installed by Acura shortly before I purchased it with 80K miles. Current mileage is 241K. Just did full timing belt and oil pump repack service. The VTec 3.2 is bulletproof
I bought a 2001 cl type s brand new and blew 5 transmissions yes FIVE replaced! 3 were warrantied and 2 payed out of pocket. Biggest piece of junk transmission of any car.
Definitely gotta get the 6spd, those automatic trans they put on those v6 j series is horrible it cannot handle the power it’s made for a civic lol. The 6 spd is basically bulletproof
Off topic on this video. But I have slightly perfect stock G35 that I just bought.id love to do my first build with it but is it worth doing it being an automatic? Need help!
Good call on the Honda ATF. That is a must. More Acura content man lol. Be honest are u secretly liking that Honda. I came from 2 Pathfinders, 1 Altima, 3 Maximas. 4 VQ, 2 VG. Mad respect for 90's early-mid 2000 Nissan. But I switched to Honda/Acura and I'm liking it man.
denvernn so far I can't lie it had been nice compared to the G. Mainly because its quiet, and auto haha. I drive about an hour 1 way to work so its comfortable for daily driving
My broham had a white 03 TL I swear when he got it he did have to do a few transmission back and fourth up keepings but then it was good for a while then he ultimately got a 1000$ trans put in with a year warranty but man those cars have some serious Torque to me lol I drive a 1996 Camry everything feels fast as hell to me but yea if this is based on the same drive train this car is a beast on the low
A bad throttle position sensor is most certainly not the cause of transmission failure. It may imitate transmission failure symptoms, but your diagnosis is catastrophically incorrect, and your lack of automotive knowledge is showing.
