An easy repair that most of you can do at home yourselves. A lot of intermittent receive faults are caused by a break somewhere in the signal path as discussed in this video. A cracked solder joint,loose component or a missing ground or maybe a combination of all are the root cause.
In this instance, this radio has seen quite a bit of hardship so after failing to repair the damage, the components causing the issue were removed and bypassed. This is not always applicable to curing this fault.
