Thank you thank you thank you!! I took my baby (07 Lexus IS250-195k miles on her) to a local automative shop to have them diagnose a rear axle noise. The idiots did a “full diagnostic of the car” (which I did NOt ask for), and told me I needed new filters, etc. Fine - I knew they needed changing but I do that myself (following the exact Lexus instructions of course). Two weeks later I hit the fresh air button and this horrendous frightening sound occurs. I freak freak freak out bc i love this car, and I go researching and figure the automotive shop broke recirc servo arm (a $1k repair ). So I am mentally gearing up to attempt that fix myself when I stumbled on this video! I literally couldn’t sleep the night after I started hearing the noise, so I got up at 5am and went to go inspect it and change the filter myself. Sure enough , those f!#*^ing idiots had jammed the filter in there completely wrong so the door couldn’t close. I fixed it in minutes and now no bad sounds. This is a God send! ! I had my Lexus is250 cabin filter changed and the installer did not install the filter correctly and was experiencing the same issues. Every time I started my car this chainsaw noise would sound off for 15 seconds before cutting off. I took my car to 2 separate mechanics in hopes of finding a cheap fix and they both were trying to charge me 9hrs of labor plus the cost of the part, saying "they needed to remove the dash and replace the blend / servo module." . This technique just saved me more than a grand. Thank you so much for finding a DIY solution. You are the F'in man!
Bro!!! Just bought my IS250c, same clicking noise from behind the glovebox, open the cabin air filter hatch aaaand WRONG FILTER, didn't even fit right, was just shoved in there. On top of that the glove box door was damaged and only held in by a wood screw!!! So glad I found your video, cheap easy fix by just buying the CORRECT filter... now to the junkyard for a glove box door 🤦♂
For me it did not work because the actual door that open and close was making noise . I had to remove a glove box and air bag and it was not difficult. Once you open all that you will see a black box that is HVAC door actuator. What I did is just move it around as it was making noise just applied pressure in certain direction and it stopped making noise . Putting everything back on is also easy . Does it click if you remove the air filter and try turning on the fan? If so, then you *might* have an actual blend door that is clicking. Unless maybe something else is stuck like a piece of paper
@@speed3000gt yup it clicks after removing the air filter. I think it might be the cover of the air filter (the one that opens up and down when switching from recycled to fresh air). wdym by blend door ?
