Hi. Just wanted to let you know you saved me buying a new switch. I also had the flicker issue. I did everything you did and barely had light at all. I cleaned the black crud as best I could and those metal slats. What did the trick was the top metal slat I did not insert in its groove like it should be but on purpose. I placed it under the groove for a tighter contact with its other metal slat. Sort of like a tight clothes pin. This way the contacts touch each other more tight. It did the trick. Thx my friend.
I found I had to do that every few months , I ended up the replacing the two 40 watt bulbs = 80 watts to LED lights , We will see if the lower power draw will reduce the spark contact going on when the terminals touch as I am hoping there will be less of a current rush to the bulbs hence will make it last longer.
Glad the video was useful, this fix lasted me a long time, I just started having problems with the switch again so I replaced it because the contacts were getting a little thin after they were scrubbed clean. Thanks for the comment I really appreciate it.
