I was an early adopter of this product on my Mica black metallic Mazdaspeed 3. This product works, when finished, you basically had to know where the chip was before and look at it real close in the right light to see where the chip was. The repair seemed tougher than the original paint and I never had a chip appear again in the same spot. I now purchase a kit for every car I own.

Pretty good result on a dark colour like that! I’ll probably get some for my white vehicle and it’s rock chips. Should be much easier to make those vanish.

I had a spray can made up with my paint code from Napa. I spray into a rattle can lid, apply paint to the chip using a fine artist paint brush, then when dry, I use a binder hole punch and punch out the grit of sandpaper I need and also punch out 2 way tape. Then using the eraser end of a pencil, I stick the tape on it then the sandpaper then wet sand the touch up in a circular motion cause it’s so small. Then buff with compound and wax.

Thanks John... love the ingenuity! I'd imagine that most of us aren't comfortable with color sanding, so Dr ColorChip is definitely the work around to your near perfect solution. Awesome comment, thanks!

Hi Monty, You mentioned in previous videos you painted your GTO in your home garage. By chance do you have any videos of the process you went through? Old paint removal, primer, body work etc. Thanks

Awesome video man, great demonstration on how to use the product. I have a couple of paint chips on my car that I would like to fix, but I have a layer of ceramic coat covering my paint. Will that be a problem when applying the product??
@FastMonty

Thanks for the comment... yeah, I suspect the ceramic coating might be an issue. But, there's nothing wrong with trying it anyway. If it doesn't stick, you'll have to polish the area to remove the ceramic, and try again. Let us know how it goes!

My car has ceramic coating around chipped area. Ofcourse chips no longer have coating. Would this still work? Im guessing new paint and sealact will just not stick to ceramic coated areas but WOuld adhere to chipped area. Thoughts?

Can you use this product as well as the prep cleaner if there is a ceramic coating on the car?
@FastMonty
@FastMonty 2 года назад
Good question... Ideally, no. If you have any ceramic or wax INSIDE the chip, the paint won't adhere to it. If it were me, and ceramic was inside the chip, I'd try it anyway. I honestly don't know how you'd remove the ceramic, from a hole/chip. As the only way to remove ceramic from the paint surface is to polish it off. Let us know how it goes!

I am curious do you go into detail on how you keep your car clean? Mine will be getting painted here soon(black) and i am wondering what you do or your process to keep your car clean, also not put any marks in the clear coat during cleaning etc. do any of your videos cover that or do you have some tips on what you do. I know this color will show dust alone just being parked in the garage over night. Wash, wax, spray detailer???? Thanks for any help.

Good question... lot's of methods out there. I currently love Ceramic Coating, with a complementary ceramic waterless detailer. Check out the Avalon King products, in my playlist, here ru-vid.com/group/PL0VCtZe2W6eb-TdHI1TktbWesxa4inRWw&si=0K5kgpvpLItU39gX (By the way, you probably have to wait a few months to let the clear coat fully cure out.) can we put a dab of clear coat over the newly repaired paint chip?
@FastMonty
@FastMonty Год назад
Good question... it's not recommended, BUT, in theory, you could try it after the divot dries. Add clear, so it's higher than the surrounding, then sand it/polish it flush. OR, just add more layers of Dr. Color Chip, until it's level, and you can't tell it's there. Let us know if you get the Clear trick to work.

Is it critical that you use the paint they send you, or can you use the dealer touch-up paint & aftermarket touch-up paints as well? Thanks!!
@FastMonty
@FastMonty 2 года назад
Great question... I don't know the formulation, but, I'd be willing to bet there's some sort of proprietary mix of pain in their kit. To be safe, I'd use what's in the kit. If you find out otherwise, let us know! Thanks for the comment.
@kingbotzcustoms
@kingbotzcustoms 2 года назад
@@FastMonty It is proprietary indeed, I just heard back directly from them on this, here's what they said: "The SealAct blending solution is a proprietary product developed to work with our paint only. It will not work with regular touch-up paint. Best results are achieved using our touch-up paint and SealAct blending solution as directed in the repair kit instructions." 😎

I have 2 large chips about the size of a nickel and deep on the end of the door & quarter panel, right on the edge. So how the heck would you do that? I guess I would have to build some sort of dam? Piece of tape maybe, I dont know never done it before. I have the paint, its old style no clear coat. Came with the car
@FastMonty
@FastMonty 2 года назад
Yeah, that's a large chip alright. The proper way to fix that is to sand and paint the entire panel... which would really mean paint the entire car. I know you don't want to do that. So, plan B would be to fill those chips with paint... which will be several coats. You'd have to fill it enough so the chipped area is higher than the surrounding paint. After that cures, you now have to wet sand it down to level. Then cut/buff/polish. Yes, it's a pain the ass... but, that's what I'd do. Hope that gives you some ideas.
