Learn how to safely remove a Keyboard Key and then how to install it safely onto your Keyboard. Most French Inset Keyboards cannot be easily replaced and so its preferable to replace individual keys as possible instead of the entire keyboard. For an instructional video on the smaller Letter sized keys, view this link; Feel free to comment or ask questions !! Please remember to 'Like' if this was helpful :)

FAQ's:
Q: My Key Cap will not click down in place correctly. Whats wrong?
A: If the key assembly is not installing correctly, its either due to a component being damaged and needing to be replaced or a component not being orientated correctly. I would disassemble the key as seen here in this video and inspect for damage. If there is no damage, install the key. If there is damage, replace the key. Would you like help locating a key? If so, what is the brand and model for your computer?
Q: Where can I purchase replacement keys?
A: I usually get my keys on Ebay or www.replacementlaptopkeys.com. If you cannot find a loose key for sale, you may have to purchase a keyboard and take a key from there.
Q: I have a Key or Keys that are not working. Will this fix them?
A: This video is a tutorial on how to replace a key. If your keys are not working but are not mechanically broken, troubleshoot them as seen here; • How To Fix Troubleshoo... .
Q: The hinge clip came appart into two pieces. How can I reassemble?
A: They fit together with a small plastic pin on the left and right of the inner clip. These fit into holes on the outer clip. To see exactly how the inner clip sits in the outer clip, remove another key cap and copy the clip under it.
Q: The rubber spring came off. How do I reattach it?
A: There isnt really a good way to reattach those. They are not meant to be replaced. Best advice is try to use a small amount of glue. If that does not work, you may have to replace the keyboard.

I have been sitting with my laptop keyboard disassembled for about the last week or so lol, feeling completely hopeless. All the steps you outlined and how to disassemble and reassemble this keyboard are absolutely critical and only after watching your video and following the steps you outlined was I able to get my spacebar key back on my Asus TUF dash F-15 laptop. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. I sincerely appreciate it!

If your Key Cap is not clicking down in place correctly, it is most likely due to the Retainer Clip not being properly installed or damaged. Remove the Cap and inspect for damage or that its not laying down flush and properly snapped in itself. Compare to another Clip if needed by removing another Cap.

Hi! Thanks for this video! It looks very helpful to know that keys can be removed and fixed like this. I have an Asus Vivobook laptop, and the space bar tends to rattle a lot. Can you suggest something? I want the rattling to stop as it can be distracting while typing for a long time. Do you think that it can be re-adjusted and repaired so it stops making that much noise while clicking it? Also, my old Lenovo Ideapad had a couple of keys completely stop working. Can those be re-fixed as well?
@PC_Monkey
@PC_Monkey 4 года назад
Most likely something is loose or there is something caught under the key that rattles. The keys that dont work can be fixed this way if the issue is mechanical. If the keys are mechanically fine, then this video wont help. It would most likely be a driver issue or the keyboard is bad and needs to be replaced. Update your drivers as seen here; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-twjDVfEKfxM.html
@supriyathanawala12
@supriyathanawala12 4 года назад
Thanks again. The keyboard is fine otherwise. All my updates are done, and I keep checking on them as you have shown on that other video as well. It just appears to be this particular space bar key that makes a lot more of a clappy noise when hit every few seconds than it should be. All the other keys are fine and don't make that sound. I agree with what you said about something possibly being loose inside. I will be taking it to the service center to get it tested and fixed, as I don't think I know how to - nor do I think it is safe for me to - open it up the way you just did.
@supriyathanawala12
@supriyathanawala12 4 года назад
More over the space bar is not as soft and supple as the other keys. You can gently click on the other keys and they are still responsive and tactile, but the space key is a little hard and needs more pressure to be clicked on, although I wouldn't say it doesn't work or is faulty as it works very well. But it needs to be clicked a little harder and makes a hard snap/clap sound every time it is hit. I hope something can be adjusted inside to balance that out and make it like the other keys.

@@supriyathanawala12 Ya, sounds mechanical to me :) Good luck getting it fixed !!
@supriyathanawala12
@supriyathanawala12 4 года назад
@@PC_Monkey I checked with the Asus service center. They say they will replace either the entire keyboard or offer a Defective/DOA certificate on examining it. My office computer engineer says it seems like a case of a spring being loose inside, and recommends getting the entire keyboard replaced - as trying to repair only one key like this is not possible or advisable under the warranty scheme if we land up damaging something. I believe this is a French inset keyboard and, like you showed on one of your other videos, it does not seem very easy to remove and replace, as it has ribbons fitted around it or something. Am I right? I am happy with the laptop otherwise and am not too keen to discard it or mess too much with it in a way that damages things. My only concern is to lubricate and fix the space bar, which is tight and requires more pressure on my thumb, which is being strained by this and also slowing my typing down a bit, even if I tolerate the noise. I doubt I will get a refund for the entire piece, whether or not I get a DOA certificate from the service center. At the most, they will replace the entire machine with another identical one, but there's no guarantee that the same problem won't occur there too. What do you suggest? Do you think this can be repaired and fixed so that the mechanical tightness and stiffness that's creating the disturbing sound in the space bar can be removed and the space bar be easier on my hand? I am apprehensive about taking it to someone who doesn't really know how to do it and damages the machine further. I am also worried that the badly assembled keyboard may cause more wear and tear to it in the coming months as I continue to use it more. PS: I also tried changing my finger strokes on the keyboard a bit. I don't know to what extent that might help, but pressing the space bar down with my index finger instead of with my slanted thumb does not create the sound. But it is slower and might take me a while to get used to typing like that too. What do you suggest I do?
