Terry, I can't thank you enough. A plumber would have charge $150 just to turn that screw counterclockwise.A running toilet also increases the monthly water bill. I just climbed happily back into my bed after fixing the annoying toilet running sounds coming from the other bedroom's bathroom in my house that I share a wall with because of this vid! It was super helpful to have you walk through the whole scenario. For me, there wasnt a screw but just twisting the rod counterclockwise did the same thing. And then I had to change the position of it, there was no other way to get it to stop dropping down so far but to grab and twist gently. Worked though! Did the same thing with the flappy thing, had to slightly reposition it. Done and done! At least for now, will keep monitoring and definitely planning to deep clean everything later because I'm certain at least the flappy thing will move out of position again unless I clean and/or replace it... thoughts? Anyways! Thank you for helping me get back to sleep!

I was having the same issue and just realized that the reason my water pump wouldn’t stop running was because it was getting stuck. When the tank was filling up after flushing the pump is supposed to come up but mine was getting stuck with the tank walls. It was too close to it. To fix it all I did was to disconnect it from the water source and put it back properly. It’s all about the connection with the water source.

i replaced the dual flush valve rubber seal, yet have a slow leak. Fills to the top and stops running, then slow drain makes it fill tank back up every 10 mins. Any suggestions?

Make sure to let people know if that doesn’t do the trick, you need to replace the fill valve. That’s what I had to do.

I tried this but it turns out I needed to clean it like a Keurig Hahaaa I removed that top piece and cleaned the rubber and inside. THEN I had to flush a few times and now its good to go. Thanks for your take as well. Peace.

I tried removing the top and cleaning it as the old lady suggested and also followed your counter clock option to bring the floater down and still no luck. The water passes the floater and funny thing is the floater doesn't come up. I checked the arm connected to floater and it looks fine. As soon as I gently lift the arm the water stops like it is supposed to. It's a mystery.

I would go over the steps in this video again but with caution so you don’t break something. If tank fills up but you still have room to pull the floater, suggests to me that the floater is either obstructed in some way or it is not a floater anymore (might have weight to it perhaps collecting water). This is just me thinking wildly. It is always best to use a pro; I’m just a DIYr

Hi Terry I have the same product by American Standard. The worst time to jiggle the floater is a night when you are deep in your sleep and hear the sound of the running water. Little counter-clockwise rotation of that black screw solved the problem. Thanks for the video.

You might have another issue going on so I’d say just try looking for other great RU-vid videos or try to get a professional to take a look

My ongoing problem is: The water goes to the flowline, stops, and then very slowly goes to about 1/2 inch below the flowline. It can only flush properly at the flowline. So I manually adjust the water to the flowline and quickly flush. It works but I have to keep the tank open all the time. I even got a new pressure valve from AS, made numerous adjustments unsuccessfully. Any advice please. Thanks.

Hi Rina, Sorry to hear you keep it open. I may have misinterpreted your text but I believe you should be able to flush at any water level; however, you may not get the desired flush. I might be wrong but check your flush button or handle for top flush and traditional systems respectively. Please let us know. Happy new year.

I tried your method, over did it and ended up with no water at all flowing into the tank. I then turned it clockwise and the water finally flows in, but I ended up with the same problem, the water still leaking and the phantom flush continues. I am desperate.

Sorry to hear that. With no water, you’re probably at/near 100% turn counterclockwise and still having the problem, means you passed the sweet spot. If you are unable to get it right, don’t feel bad, just get a professional to do the fixing.

The problem shown and described here is exactly what the problem is with my toilet, but this guy's fix for it, didn't fix mine, I tried and it didn't change a thing. Anyone have other ideas?

take out the middle piece and make sure nothing is blocking that hole's connection to the middle piece that makes contact with the flusher

Not exactly sure. Sounds like you mean that your system is constantly engaged on ‘flush’. Get a pro to look at it.

Hi Terry, Can you show us how to replace the rubber washers for the bolts connectiong the water tank to the seat and the rubber gasket at the base of the water tank? I had a guy installing the toilet, not sure if he put all the washers in for the bolts. I keep seeing water drop on the floor only fon one side of the water tank. The other side looks ok and feels dry. Thank you

Hi, I’d love to, but I don’t have that problem right now. Remember, I’m not a professional, but if I were doing it myself, I’d double check the washer fill/alignment and possibly use silicone couplant because ceramics are likely to break when tightened more than required. I always suggest hiring a professional if unsure. To you and yours, a happy new year.

My tanks float is working but the water continues to flow even if i manually hold the floater up it still continues to flow. I don't know where to look for that parts in the system that will close the valve once the floater is up.

@@TerryAkwue I have the same issue..I manually hold the floater up on this exact toilet but I still get flow..could it be the seal? Did you happen to find out the answer in the last 3 months? It was a great video though!
