How to Fix RV/POP UP CAMPER A/C from dripping water inside!

I recently had the issue of my Jayco Pop Up Camper AC unit leaking water in the camper while it was running! Here is how I fixed the AC water drip pan from over flowing and dripping into the camper.

After 35 years in the airconditioning business i look back at advice i got in the begining and one piece stands out. My very first instructor at tech school told us we would have to learn more than any other trade but in the end still spend 90 percent of our careers being nothing more than glorified janitors. So yes with a little patience and mechanical skills you can clean coils and pans and oil motors which will do wonders for your heating and cooling equipment.

Great Video. One suggestion, drill out the holes to a larger diameter for quicker drainage.

Should have got the Jacko version. Clorox every once in a while may help. Love the orange and white helicopters. Glad they moved from my house to yours.

I have a 1996 Coleman that leaked in. I tightened the unit's bolts to spec and added a clear tube into the plastic drain tray. So far so good but we go camping for a week at the end of the month so I'll comment how it goes.

The pan is under the evaporated coil and not the condenser. I got those backwards in the narration (oops lol). You should see the pan fairly easy though. Just check your owners manual diagram for the specifics. I just wanted to get this video out because I had trouble finding mine!

You can anti slug tablets..that will help alot..i had one of those units on my shed..thats what i used ...cleaned it out once ayear then added one tablet

I enlarged those holes for a better water flow out. Just have to clean once a year and check each time we roll the RB out Don’t forget to lubricate the fan clutch

Heads up gonna deal with it on regular bases I clogged up those holes drilled through side all the way out 6inches of pc glued in every year before use one air hose blow it out never have to take it apart again

Now put this down on your winterizing or spring checklist before heading out on your first trip each year. Along with checking the tire pressure and tread condition, battery water level, LP level and all fittings, etc....

We also had this issue, we just bought a 2nd hand Jayco Eagle 2016 pop up camper which has a Dometic ac on the roof. First night out it started pouring in on the little table inside. It was raining out so we thought maybe that was it and we only roughly leveled it so maybe rain was getting in, but I’m thinking this could actually be our issue. Will give it a go! Thanks 😃

I just bought a used jayco and have it camping the first time. Ac is leaking. Will have to wait to fix this back home. Also the right front corner spring is out of the tube. Any ideas on that?

I’m going camping next week And we won’t have an electric hook up so I want to get a generator should A 3500 w be good to run A/C microwave and plugs to charge phones? Also won’t have water hook up should I do anything before putting fresh water into the water tanks?

You should cleaned the AC unit while you had it all apart. They need uncovered and cleaned out annually. I do mine when I dewinterize it in the spring. Will make them last longer and blow cold.

My RV currently has a problem with the roof unit, the control board is out, the thermostat makes contact and sends signal to the board but board doesn't work, something like that anyways : (

If you have to take it apart again try covering the top of the tray with aluminum screen it should keep the big pieces from clogging the drains.

The coil that is cooling and where the leak came from, which u opened, is called Evaporator coil. The Condenser is the opposite coil.

I know this is a late reply, but in my opinion, get a small camper instead of a popup. We have had both, and a popup is a pain in the butt to set up and take down.
