Thank you so much for the steps and a hope in trouble , I was freaked out .tried step 1-restart, step 3 clean Mac junk clean, flickering was nearly gone.At last tried command + option + p + r now its completely gone. Also ran maintenance scripts on cleanmymac

Turning off "Enable filters" in "Accessibility" stopped the flickering immediately; have heard reports that turning it on stopped the problem; it seems Mac OS is often incapable of handling alterations to the set up.
After trying all of the methods (flickering is the same as in the video but in black), my screen is still flickering but only if there is no video playing. If I talk to someone on facetime or watch a video, the flickering stops but as soon as the video stops, the flickering starts again. Is there something else I can do?
Here, I solved my Macbook Pro M1 instability problems with 4k external monitor by simply changing the HDMI cable to a standard 2.1 and quality cable. Problems are gone! I fell in love with my mac again!
so my macbook pro just recently kinda broke (theres giant vertical pink bars on the screen with horizontal flashing lines) and i cant even do anything, resetting pram/nvram didnt work, also restarting didnt work, does anyone know how to fix this
What I did so far (fingers crossed) worked for me so far. Click on the Apple symbol on the top left corner, click on display and click on color and delete any duplicate "Color LCD" profiles you have, reboot your computer see if that helps! it helped me! I was about to go in and purchase a logic board, and cable just changed my fan out cuz it wasn't working.
The reason and the real problem why there is a flicker when you connect to a external monitor is: 1. because the M1/M2 graphic card isn't true 10-bit (!). It is 8bit + frc (meaning trying to calculate the result of two more bit's) 2. if you have semi high end monitor they sometimes also has 8bit + frc. And when en 8bit + frc signal from the Apple graphic card meets an monitor which tries to calculate the signal again, there will sometimes be flicker. This wont happen on true 10-bit panels.

Man kann auch ohne zu bezahlen, mit der App den Datenmüll löschen. Denn Clean-My-Mac zeigt ja die Dateipfade an. Ist allerdings mit ein paar Minuten Zeitaufwand verbunden.
I have a 14" MBP M2 PRO and suddenly I notcied screen flickering when having stage manager enabled?? but once I turn it off everything works fine. So is it a software or hardwawre issue?
Update: For the people that might be wondering what I did to fix my MacBook Pro, is that I did a software update recommended in this video. My Mac literally went all BLACK, it freaked me the F out, I thought I fd it up even tho I have never dropped my Mac or done anything to mess up the screen. It still flickers but its not as bad as it was 2 months ago. Good Luck.
since yesterday I feel so sad, I bought new MacBook Air m1 from online apple store, sent from china..the MacBook still fresh from factory. I not even charge it and install anything. but the screen is flickering sometimes there is line on the screen. it is too obvious when I open page with white colour like RU-vid Mail and Notes. I wish thy can replace it with new one rather than repair as its still new. btw Apple appointed service centre/store is 170km from my current area/home town. I had contacted apple advisors also but nothing they can help to rectified this issue. I tried some steps from this channel and other channel but still the display flickering. I hope someone can help me or apple can hear my problem. I took a years to collect money just because I want to buy MacBook. and this is what I got.. so sad. btw mine is MacBook M1 with 16g ram and 256 ssd storage. :'(
I totally empathize, the same thing happened to me. New, mine Intel, my first MacBook and it flickers when streaming videos. No answer from the centre nor from Apple advisors, and they won’t replace it. Have you been able to solve it?

I got this issue when I made another account on RU-vid a couple days ago, it started by a purple line across my screen and then today its flickering really badly, I'm not sure what the problem is I updated everything and cleared my storage, I might have to go to a technician or whatever

The screen blinked once every 5-10 minutes. But it seems that the problem was solved by turning off automatic graphic switching. And, of course, battery life become much shorter.
I have a 2017 MacBook Air and am running on 10.14.6 (Mojave) as it is the last version to offer both 32 and 64 bit compatibility. Sometimes I feel Apple does this shit like flickering full screen to pressure people into updating. 32 bit compatibility is very useful for running certain windows files on your Mac without dual-booting, by using applications such as Wine.

None of these tips fixed my Mac, because it's from '06. But I won't get rid of it because they stopped making Macs that could do what this one does soon afterward. I can't update to a new OS because Apple won't let me. So I can't add CleanMyMac. I don't have the screen switching thing you're supposed to turn off.
My MacBook Air screen suddenly started flickering and I called the technician he cleaned it and checked on external monitor it worked but since few days after now it works in between without flickering and sometimes it start flickering most of the the time it flickers just after starting but sometimes it calms down and work perfectly fine…please advice what could be the fault
I have the same problem. but, when i connect the second monitor using hdmi cable, the macbook's screen stops flickering. for sure, i cant do this when traveling.
Ignore this video. Cut your losses & admit it's time to move to a more reliable machine. I've been an Apple user for 25 years but the MacBook Pro I'm typing on will be the last I purchase. Hit the spacebar & get a fullstop, keypad permanently marks the screen & now I have to watch a facsimile of the southern aurora every time I use the machine. Apple's quoted cost of repair will actually buy a reasonably specced alternative.
ok the spacebar / fullstop issue is most likely because you have a shortcut option to turn double space into a full stop (like on an iPhone). that + your keyboard being faulty and causing the double press might be the issue
@@paulperole Thanks for the response on the keyboard, tbh I have learned to live with it, as long as I extend my thumb to the centre of the space bar it rarely happens so possibly I'm avoiding a double tap. The major issue initially was the screen taint from the keyboard when folded but is now the aurora effect from presumably a degraded connection. I mainly airplay to a TV now.
Just a heads up, the keyboard marks on your screen means that oil is constantly touching the screen from the keyboard, this is going to sound mean but like wash your hands every once in awhile, and wipe the keyboard down with a cloth with just water a couple times a week, this was a huge problem with the 2012-2015 retina models because the anti-glare coating they used was awful, they saved only a few dollars per unit but now basically every single one that has been touched by human oil has blotches of anti-glare scattered across it, they started using a better anti-glare coating in 2016 but at the end of the day it will still happen unless you frequently wipe the keyboard down
