Hello, the red washer goes right through the hub and stops against the bearing? Is there a gap between the bearing and the toothing? It happens to me that the red washer moves laterally and the ratchet jumps when pedaling, could that be the problem
I usually will clamp the endcap in an axle vice and then hit the wheel on both sides with my hands from below to try to push it up and away from the vice. This pretty much always gets even the really tight ones. Hope that helps!
I got the replacement kit, including the freehub for my 240 road hub. I can't see any visible difference in the freehub, is there really any point in throwing out a slightly used freehub?
DT says it is a "surface finish issue" so it would not be something you could see without special inspection tooling. With that said, if yours was still working OK but you were replacing it to be proactive, its probably not horrible to hold onto it as a backup.
They had "surface finish issues" so they made slight changes to the way they were machined. The finish issues would cause drag on the star ratchet, even when properly lubricated so it would keep it from engaging. Thankfully they are sending out all the replacement parts free of charge for hubs with these issues.
If yours does not fall in the range they list you should be safe. If you happen to have engagement issues with your hubs it would be worth reaching out to DT to see if they had issues outside of the official range of serial numbers since they are handling these warranties really well.
@@XCRiders Thankfully they make it pretty easy. If you are in the US, just send an email to Techusa@dtswiss.com with your serial number and they should take care of it. I can't remember if they require you to go through a shop or not but its worth a quick email to see.
I definitely think approaching DT for a warranty is the best move. I threw up part numbers for those who were curious or if someone happens to need replacements if theirs somehow is not covered under warranty.
