My hack is getting really angry, taking the polish off and redoing it, then smudging my other nails trying to clean that nail and having to completely redo everything, deciding I hate that colour now and doing something completely different, and that's why it takes me 2 hours to do my nails.
You should buy those dip and clean nail polish removers. Like the one with the sponge inside. You can easily clean one nail with it just by dipping it!
Ok, I had to stop at tip #1 because I officially feel validated with my choices in life. This is the ONLY way I know to fix my smudges and I have felt so weird doing this, but now I am so pleased to know that it is the "Kelli approved" way to do it! Thank you for helping me to feel like a more "sane" person. Alright...on to the rest of the video. (because I have some smudges that dried before I realized I made them and I need to figure out if there is anything I can do.)
mary vredeveld lmao! i actually got the wrong impression when I read your comment the first time. .. I guess it's because I paused after the word "bottom" & didn't realize the word "lip" was there! roflmfao!!!
I just want to say that your videos are by far the best nail videos on RU-vid, in my opinion. Your vocal pace is perfect, your swatches are maddeningly perfect, and you are clear and succinct in your information delivery. I enjoy your videos just for fun sometimes. Thanks for making nail polish interesting.
I do the “lick test” all the time when I use traditional polish to make sure it’s perfectly dry before sealing it with a LED/UV TOP COAT,to make it last longer. If it tastes bitter it still needs more drying time. I do this only if I’m in a rush, otherwise I leave it till the next day before I top it with the LED/UV gel topcoat.I have so many trad polishes, so this way I get longer wear time with all my choices of colours and plus,LED/UV gels are far too expensive to have a wide gamma of colours! Great money saving tip 👍🏼
@@sharond4931 yes, you just need to give it enough time to fully dry or moisture can be trapped ok your nails. I think I read that you need at least 24 hrs for the regular polish to fully dry.
WEIRDEST. THING. EVER. I just painted my nails about an hour or so ago and I bumped one of them on something. It was a small little chop in my pointer finger. My automatic response is to put my tongue on it, with some pressure, because your tongue is wet enough to glide and not smudge, and the pressure and warmth helps melt and smooth the polish back into place. I've been doing this my whole life. And I literally sat there thinking, "Am I a friggin' weirdo for doing this? Is there anyone else is the world that knows this works? Is there any ways people have talked about fixing this problem? Should I post this as some kind of helpful hint on RU-vid somewhere in case I _am_ the only weirdo that does this?" I can't believe how coincidental this is.
+IRISHTRISH I'll tell you what really happened - I read your mind! Muhahaha! Just kidding, I'm so funny. But seriously, I wish I had explained it as eloquently as you instead of being like "your tongue is like a finger!" It's such a neat trick!
You literally have blown my mind! I was doing nail art the other day and smudged a bit, right as I was finishing. I got really frustrated and then remembered this video. I licked my finger and fixed it!!! Thank you so much, I can't believe it works but it does!! Xx
Oh my gosh! I just watched this video for the first time the other day. Doing a mani today and slightly smudged my index nail. Remembered what u said so I licked it. It worked! Very odd technique but it works great! Thank u! Love watching any and all ur videos! Ur doing a fabulous job! Keep posting/blogging.❤
sharon MD if my hand or the weather is hot, I have bubbles. So I put my hands in cold water before polishing the nails and sometimes even after. Or you can put your hand on one of those gel bags you leave in the freezer while doing the nails. It helps too 😉
drisalvia thank you! I get crazy bubbles and I think it might be because I mixed two different base coats together as they ran out... but I will try the cold water thing and see if it helps!
I heard from a nail technician that bubbles occur because your nails are dirty so the polish clings onto the little particles! that's why they always clean your hands at salons, so dipping them in water should help!
...I am sooo glad I'm not the only one who licks my nails to fix them 😂😂😂 I also don't drink a lot of caffeine. I never drank sodas as a kid and I never built up a tolerance, so even a little bit keeps me awake. That being said, I was born and raised in the south and I do love my sweet iced tea! But I try to only have it once or twice a week so that I can still sleep.
Depends on where I get it, but some of it is even too sweet for me. Some places I have to mix a little unsweet into it. I like it sweet, but I don't wanna drink tea-flavored sugar syrup.
I found your channel when I broke my nail and was procrastinating before I tried the team bag hack to fix it. But this video is the one that got me to subscribe. 😁 You're positive but not, well, daylight about things. And maybe a little tentative about some things, in an endearing way. I've always been the quirky one of the bunch, so I tend to like that vibe from people. I love it when someone can be into nails and self expression through other "girly' things like hair and makeup but not be a traditional girly girl about it. I'm happy I found your channel! Keep rocking.
+AmaraJordan haha I'm so happy you found me! And that you like my content :P my friends always laugh about how my hobby happens to be nail polish and makeup, since I'm really not a "girly girl" at all - you hit the nail on the head!
Thank you for this!! you're a nail saver lol I love your jacket it's so cute! I bought sponges and I'm about to try my first gradient I may revisit an older video! thanks again for being so helpful!!
ur a lifesaver! it’s 2 in the morning here and I painted my nails & I accidentally smudged it. I didn’t want to redo it since I was putting the nail polish in the container. I did the lick thing & the nail polish is now all smooth! thank you
I really needed this video. My husband always gets to hear me brag about how I did the perfect mani, then twenty minutes later with a sad face say, "Damn it! I dented it!"
Found this really useful . I have a habit of taking off the vanish and starting again if I smudge a nail . Will try these next time .💅🏻 I couldn't live without caffeine. If I don't have a coffee I get a headache ! So well done you for giving it up !
+Michelle Till oh man I'm way too lazy to start over a nail, haha! And I remember when I stopped drinking coffee I had headaches all the time! Glad that's over with lol
I could have done with using these techniques last night!! Thank you for putting these tips up I definitely need these!! Due to my condition my hands shake which makes application messy but I can always clean up its the twitching that annoys me most! I 'll have cleaned up my nail and it's looking real nice..... then my hand or fingers twitch and I hit the corner or edge of the table or I knock it into a cup etc the twitching pees me off!! So thank you Kelli I am positive these tips will help! and as always tfs hun xxx
Great tips, Kelli Marissa! I put a little dab of water or Vitamin E oil on my index finger, tap or gently press to smooth out the nail. I've tried the top coat and glitter ones too. They realy work. Gotta try that nail art trick. I never thought of that one. 😊
+Kelli Marissa Good to here from you. Hope all is well? Yes. It is one I keep in my nail arsenal. I cook a lot so my hands are in water constantly. It is also very good for moisturizing dry nails and cuticles, as well. It's also improved the health of my nails. Much love. Stay blessed my friend. 😊
Your makeup looks amazing on you today!!! It always looks good but that blue in your inner corner brings your eyes closer to the center and makes a fabulous focal point. You're so pretty! Anyways, thanks for these ideas! They're very helpful for nails on the go :)
Can you try the hack of using micro fiber (car washer) towel to remove nail polish. It's to have a harder surface to push and scrub easer to get glitter off. Btw a bonus is no hair get stuck
Being a clutz in general with the impatience of waiting for my nails to dry...I really needed this video! So thank you! Also, now that the red isn't vibrant in your hair, I really think cool toned colors would look amazing on you!
I’ve been getting my acrylic nails done consistently since 2013 and now because of this virus and quarantine situation I had to let my acrylics go and go back to basics which really was a bummer but your videos are sooo helpful and inspiring me to rock shorter natural nails that still look cute! Sooo thank you for all the content and helpful tips...I appreciate it💅🏽💕
Hi Kelli I just smudged 2 nails the other night. I bought 6 new polishes and trying my first one I smudged both pointer fingers. Again I love the polish 101 videos so pls keep them coming. 😀💅💅👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great video thanks for these tips Kelli I'm gonna try them. Usually I fix smudged nails by dabbing a bit of nail polish remover on the nail and it works good too 😊😊😊
Love you and your videos. I never drink caffeine either or soda but I have to totally agree with the ginger ale, it's always been a favorite since I was a child.
Thanks for the great tips! I usually do the glitter top coat. I'm excited to try the licking thing, but at the same time, I really don't want to ding my nail just to try it. But I am that girl who paints her nails and then needs to open something or use my hands so I'm sure it'll come in useful sooner than I'd like.
your hoodie is so cute! I don't drink caffeine either! and I don't drink soda either cuz I just don't like the taste. and so proud of you for being sober!
+KenzieHurlock hehe thanks! I got it on clearance at Kohls :P and yeah I think most soda is too sweet! But nice to have as a special treat every few months, I consider it like dessert haha!
Kelli, great video! I ,too, am caffeine-free..but honestly the caffeine didn't start affecting me till I hit my 40's- how weird is that? I used to be able to drink sweet tea before bed, or even coffee...and had nooo problems sleeping. Not anymore. No biggie. oh! and I love that inner eye corner pop of blue!!
+Diana Leon ahh thanks Diana! It's crazy how much it affects me now. I had a half-caff coffee yesterday because the shop ran out of decaf and I literally could not sleep last night!
I just found your channel and I love them! Your videos are so creative and different, I always go to your videos for tips and tricks. I really relate to you and always buy your products that you recommend just because they are so cheap! Love your videos 💞
+Narvo pups oh wow thank you so much! I'm so happy you're enjoying so far :) I try to stick to affordable products so everyone can get them! (But to be honest I also can't afford expensive stuff LOL)
LOVE THE SHIRT and the makeup !! And omg I get so excited when u post a new vid like I dance and everything 😂❤️ I was waiting for this vid ! ❤️ can u do one on how to not smudge ur manicure when u add top coat cuz I have to wake like3 days or else it will smudge 😭❤️
Hi Kelly, your videos are spot on. Loved this video. Seriously, I always mess up after doing my nails. Good tips on how to fix them. Happy Weekend. Look forward to your videos. Cheers
I have never shared with anyone using the tongue technique. My mom taught me that one many years ago. Glad to know other people do it. And, yeah to the 101 series
I am loving this nail polish 101 series...the smudge fix with the tongue is the one I use almost every time I do my nails...I am pretty clumsy...my fun fact I have to drink espresso every morning...I make it at home. Couldn't think about not having it...but I don't have all the awesome energy you do...bye❤️👋
+Alexandra Vicuna-Perry oh gosh if I had a coffee maker growing up I don't think I would have been able to stop at all! Especially for delicious drinks, I would never sleep!
I've been binge watching your videos since I saw theliquid latex vid. I bought some as I was watching the video 😊 Thank you for the great tips and nail art designs 💅 New subbie!!
U are so gorgeous & funny lol 😊❤ I have severe Ocd (seriously I've been diagnosed) & my nails are something I obsess about. I just purchased a polish thinner bc most of my polishes have thickened. Thanks for the tips 😁
Oh thank you Cindy! I can relate to that struggle. It's hard when you start to obsess/do compulsive actions over something that is meant to be a de-stressing hobby. I'm happy to offer any small relief with my content!
+MomNMe Beauty LOL. That's a fair statement. I feel like Van Gogh when I lick my own nail, I suffer for my art 😂😂 I'm glad you enjoyed the other tips though!
+♥ LadyRayden ♥ they're both from OPI, the pink is from the new California Dreaming collection and the glitter is from the Hello Kitty collection! :) I hope that helps haha I don't remember the names!
Hi Kelli! Thanks for the tips! One more that works for me is quickly brushing cuticle oil on a smudge--works best on very freshly painted nails. Was wondering if you could tell me the name of the pretty pink creme polish you used in this video or the name of a shade close to it? Thanks!
I never thought of licking my nail! I usually use whatever my cleanest/least oily finger and softly buff it. I love the flower idea!! I'm super sensitive to caffeine! People don't realize it can make your sugar drop causing you to crave sweets and all that jazz too!
I drank caffeinated soda yesterday because a friend had already bought it for me without telling me, so I wanted to be nice and I drank half of it but I just could not go to sleep!! My mind was awake till 3 AM and I had finals the next day!! I'm so glad to know you don't have caffeine too. No more caffeine for me 🙅🏻
+Niki Stonestreet haha thanks Niki! I found it randomly in the clearance section of Kohls, I think it's activewear but it's so darn cute I can't stop wearing it!
+Jackie Rosenfeld hey Jackie! It's called a dogging tool :) they usually sell them in packs of 5 - you can either find them in beauty supply stores or online! Personally I love to make my own dotting tools though - I love using the round end of a ball-point pen, or a toothpick! Which colors did you order? You're gonna love them :)
