This was extremely had to see, with the camera CONSTANTLY going out of focus at the important parts. I still managed to fix my controller, the buttons where extremely sticky to due a lemonade spill, one thing i picked up on, in this video tutorial, once the back was taken off, there was two wires that he took off, he forgot to re-attach those wires, so for anybody wondering the same thing, the left wire goes to the top port, the right wire goes to the bottom port DO NOT FORGET to put these wires back in place or your controller may not work, if you followed completely through the whole time and did not pick up on this error, there is a possibility that those wires aren't plugged in on your controller too, i'd advise you take apart the controller once again, and reconnect the wires *with golden heads* to the two ports in the middle of the second data plate, i noticed this and thankfully remembered where to put them, if you do not remember, to make sure, search "xbox series s/x controller disassembly and reassembly". Good luck, don't fuck this up.

This did not completely fix my sticky B button, but it's definitely much better than before. I think it might be a manufacturing fault, and moreover a problem with the design itself. I noticed that there were a lot of chafing marks and white powdery residue on the buttons and the rubber domes which to me seems to indicate that there is friction between the plastic frame and the buttons. The B-button was/is definitely worst for me and I noticed that the glossy finish is really uneven towards the base of the button, on one edge it was almost completely matte. What's more puzzling to me is why the buttons got sticky so quickly, I've owned the controller for roughly half a year, but I've barely used it. I'm a PC gamer and only occasionally play games with controller. If the problem becomes worse again I will try sprayign the button with some silicone based lubricant. Also I thought I should point out that you forgot to reattach the J1/J2 jumper wires. In any case, great tutorial on how to take the controller apart without breaking anything.

Literally same to the T man! So weird. Must be a manufacturing issue for sure. I also noticed the wires you mentioned too! After taking my controller apart though my sync button won’t go back in, puzzled on how to position it.

@@ihavenobriancells581 very, iirc, and you very gently and carefully press the end of the wire back into the motherboard where it came from. You can’t tell properly but there’s like a really small clip, similar to buttoning your coat up and you can feel it click together. It doesn’t feel natural when you’re doing it but you’ll be fine.

I tried this and everything was going well until the D-Pad fell out and I had no idea how to put it back in with the metal ring. I ended up trying to eyeball the insertion of the d-pad into the meal ring which then bent the ring. Upon continued attempts all the cleaned buttons ended up falling out. I think one major lacking aspect of the video was the audio jack. It never went in correctly where it "clicked" or "otherwise". Instead I got my other xbox controller to see how it was oriented with the metal strip. I put it back in the same orientation as my new controller but every time I screwed the circuit board back in with the T6 screws it cause the board to be bent. I removed it, checked all alignments, and screwed it back in again. Same issue, the bottom circuit board always was not aligned when trying to bring in the top board. I kept thinking it was the audio jack not being seated correctly. After 4 or 5 attempts to unscrew and seat everything correctly one of the two thin wires that were soldered on the right side of the controller just severed. I'm not a soldering person when it comes to super fine wires and points. So I gave up. I gave up on the reinstall of the D-pad with the metal, spring clip and still tried but once that super thin wire failed, I gave up completely and threw the entire controller away.

just rubbing the alcohol packs on top of the buttons without disassembling the whole controller will likely fix a lot of minor sticky button issues. worked great for me, worth a try before you go about doing all this

Also, a good tip if you dont want to cancel your warranty, or are to afraid to open up the entire controller, a solution is to spray a little bit of pure alcohol on your buttons, (controller off), and star to press the buttons, 99% of the cases it should start to get a lot better. then just let it dry or a hour or so,

Normal alcohol can cause rust on the board. The correct one should be isopropyl.

I dont know why my controller had gunk and I just opened the box that the console xbox x and the controller came out. I got lucky tho I took a deep breath and blew as hard as I could(as if you were to play a trumpet (lips barley open)) And they are fine now 3 hours later

I fix it by spraying a little bit of lynx and click the buttons 20 - 60 times then it works then i would wipe the controller with a cleaning wipe then wipe controller with tissue

@@jayt4225 so I found a fix, it’s something i usually do to clean controller internals (without opening the controller) take a qtip, dip it on isopropyl alcohol, and rub it around the effected buttons, let the alcohol seep through, it’ll breakdown the plastic residue holding it together.

I have a ps4 from 2015 and I have never had issues with the controller. I’ve had my Xbox s for less than 6 months and the trigger button is sticking due to a sound dampening pad that came loose inside it. Garbage

This, 100%. I was following this step by step and had the buttons all wiped off and clean. Started putting it back together when one of the cables snapped. I saw nothing about disconnecting the cables so I assumed I was doing the right thing by not disconnecting. Stupid me for not realizing that the cables were miraculously no longer connected when doing the rest of it.

Helpful but not at all accurate . I just took mine apart and there are wires connecting the two motherboards which in your video just conveniently happen to be disconnected. Why not show us how you did that and how to connect them back ? Buttons fall out , very hard to work around the motherboards. But you helped me clean my buttons so cheers .

@@connorpapa no they have little connectors on them. pull straight up with tweezers or your fingernails even. Push straight down to reconnect. Delayed as hell but I better late than never lol

Best way is to take a hot wet rag not to wet enough where it will squeeze a little condensation wipe buttons back and forth rubb like ur rubbing your nible in a circular motion and then it should pop out hot it upside down in the air so h don't get water that leaks into the controller or just don't be lazy take it apart everything goes back together just like it came apart just in reverse really not hard I been doing it since I was 8 it's not wrocket science the guy hooking up my fiber on the pull outside was watching a how to video I was rolling😂

It's ridiculous that controllers are made so Sh*t nowadays, I still have NES/SNES/GENESIS controllers that work perfectly, yet, less than a year after buying a new controller(the one with the button for taking a picture/video)the damn LB button is not working (it's always that button) AND there is drift when the left stick is pressed up. Either make the controllers better or charge 30 dollars or something because 60+ dollars is unacceptable for the garbage quality.

You obviously know what you are doing with the controller but you are way too fast and you don't exactly show how to take the 2 black wires off of the top motherboard I don't know if I'm supposed to pry this straight up or slide in a certain direction. All I know is I followed you all the way to the spot where your video cuts off then back on and the two black wires are already taken apart. Your killing me with the whole tare down.
