How to fix taffington boathouse 

Hello, to anyone just discovering Kevin's great tutorials. I did repair the roof, I simply added half floors all around the three by three floors as he built, then I just added barn walls along the edges, roofed it and glitched it into the building, I removed one of the inner floor blocks added stairs for third floor sleeping area. Yes, it does stick out all around the original building, I can live with that, and there are no building inspectors in the Fallout universe. I only recently re-discovered the Fallout franchise after playing the first one on PC many years ago. Kevin's tutorials helped me so much, thanks my friend.

this is the best method i've found so far, thanks very much. and actually i found the extra ceilings protruding outside to be quite nice and make a balcony off it to put to sentry turrets OR spotlights on each corner.

Cannot thank you enough! I already knew how to use the pillar glitch, but I had no clue there was that patch of dirt on the 2nd floor I could use it with!!!

Oh my gosh! That was an awesome discovery about being able to sink the beam into the dirt pile on the floor! I spent hours trying to cover things from above the rooftops and my end result looks dumb. I am going to try your suggestion... but I may (or may not) expand the floors a bit so they stick even farther outside the walls so I can use them as walkways or for gun placements. Thank you so much for this video!

Very helpful, thank you Kevin! I was thinking at the very top to try and take an entire building and glitch it onto the roof to cover all the brokenness at the very top part. I might try that when I get a chance. Gary and I were talking about that tonight, I think he might give it a whirl as well.

Thank you so much for this video. I was able to raise the wall height so that the upper floor was perfectly level with the top of the existing walls. I made the northeast most floor a shack stairway and with some finesse you can get it so you can walk up to the new attic space from the old bathroom location (had to scrap the tub and sink to get it to work). I took advantage of the tall vertical height build limit at this site to make a six story tower above the boathouse. Fun!

great idea Kevin! ive tweaked it to stop the floor sticking out the side. start the same but make the floor 3 x 1.5 then use a concrete wall & put another 3 x 1.5 the other side, remove the concrete & the group select still works! doesnt fit the house perfect to start with but...if you line up the far room & then remove 1 floor piece from it the group select will only work on the nearest room after & you can line that up at your lesuire! thank you ive been struggling with this for ages!

There's another video on how to build the 2nd floor ceiling. With that RU-vid tutorial, I was able to create a partition of a roof in between the missing section. Looks pretty interesting.

Brilliant problem-solving! I've been too spoiled by PC mods to find an "easy" way around problems like this, but I'm impressed at how you managed to find a solution using the pillar and a little, easily-overlooked pile of dirt. :) I'm afraid that without mods, my only "solution" has been to completely bury the roof by building a new "level" up there (but then, of course, those broken roof pieces inside render the interior of such a level mostly useless).

If you make it 4x4 the part that sticks out can be a walkway for guards. Attach stairs so they can get up there, then what sticks out can have a purpose. btw love the accent

If anyone could figure it out, I knew you were the one to do it. It really is too bad that we don't have roof pieces that would allow it to be fixed. Of course PC and xbox players with the place anywhere mod could do something to fix it, but unmodded, it is impossible without making it look silly. Great job my friend.

Good job. I've been working on this place for a couple months now and am almost finished. The way I fixed the ceilings and the walls of the attic,was to first put a doorway inside of the doorway that separates the two rooms. the n the floors just snapped in to place and then the walls and then the ceiling for the attic on top of that,and it all lined up with the original walls. I think in all I had only two or three pieces that wouldn't snap. But,whatever works.

Its 2018 and confirming that i cudnt repair the rooftop.I was just able to add a layer of roof to the slop on top of the entrance and that gave me confidence to do the top too but i ultimately ended up here.If i had a huge signboard or something then i would have covered the broken part.

Very creative use of the concrete pillar. Never would have thought you could sink into a pile of debris inside a house. Will add that to my construction tools. You could try using console commands (PC version) to try to fix the roof. modpos moves things in x, y, z locations (eg. modpos x -2 ). modangle leaves things where they are, but changes the angle (eg. modangle y 5). I think I will give that a try tonight.

fixing ceiling isn't too hard (well sometimes it is damn hard, with lots of trial and error, but at least it's possible), however fixing the actual roof (sloped parts I mean) is usually impossible, because even with the DLCs the roofs you get there are different slope angles and sizes, and all the other tricks that we use on walls and ceilings usually don't work on the sloped roofs ... so recently I decided that if I can't fix these ugly roofs, and can at least do as the Mafia does - put them all in concrete and build normal floor on-top of them. The concrete foundations especially the newer ones from the DLCs are very good for that because they're little taller and only their top part (ie the wooden or metal floor) usually has clipping issues with existing structures. So I try to cover the ugly and unusable /or at least irreparable/ areas within the concrete foundations part so that the wooden floor part of the foundations is just over the old roof peak. If you're lucky the top part will be perfect floor for your extra floor, and the bottom of the foundations will become a perfect ceiling of the original first floor. Something like a sandwich but with actual usable floors around a concrete patty :)

Pretty late, but Snappy Housekit Mod has all the pieces you need to fix the roof.

If your on Xbox Use snappy house kit,place any where and scrap anything.Snappy house kit has the prewar vanilla pieces, just place the matching wall from snappy house over existing wall you can place it perfect using place anywhere.Then scrap the vanilla wall next to it and replace it with the snappy house kit matching vanilla piece. you shouldn't have to scrap the house this method just helps to snap the prewar peices to the vanilla house and repair the roof i did the same for all destroyed buildings and houses i like.i also was able to fix exterior and interior cells using conquest and work benches anywhere and settlement boarders extended.

If you carried on fitting half squares all the way around the house you could fit external warehouse walls and a new roof, I sometimes use the glass walls to give an interesting effect

Doesn't work anymore. Perhaps because you can't put pillar closer to the wall, but Is potted that all clipping glitches , both with rug and pillar stopped working

WOW Your a Wizard Kevin !! I have bine fighting with that roof since I bought this game When it first came out. Really how long did it take you to figure this out? Did you say 3x3 and 3 of the 1/2 one's?
