For Mother's Day I fixed an eagle statue for my mom. The process ended up being much faster and cheaper then my original plan of making a silicone mold and casting new parts. In the video I show you the process and materials I used for this project. you can use this method to fix all your broken concrete objects.

Best concrete/sculptures repair video I’ve found...can easily see your grandparents DNA and craftsmanship shine through..your attention to detail is very impressive. Not sure what you do career wise but you always have the stone mason field.

Thanks! Patience is key, the set up time is so fast I naturally wanted to rush, but for vertical surfaces it really only gets workable past the 10 minute mark, before that it just wants to slide around. It's held up so far so she's happy.

Looks great! I have an old plant stand that I rescued out of someone's garbage back in the 80's! I've used it as is all these years! Now it seriously needs attention...I was leaning towards your method but my H recommended an epoxy concrete adhesive. After going his route initially, it's still in need of the concrete. Thanks for the video!

Thank you for sharing this video. We have a large turtle sculpture in our backyard that is of sentimental value to my daughter. The head was broken off either in moving or landscaping work soon after moving in. I think this method looks perfect for doing the repair. I will likely drill holes and use rods to reinforce and stabilize the joint. This video may resurrect a piece that I’ve been afraid to tackle for years. Thank you again!

Great job well done, I have three small concrete sculptures to fix and paint, another person said to coat it with water based latex paint primer. you agree?
@HoneyBadgerWoodWorks
@HoneyBadgerWoodWorks 4 года назад
I prefer oil-based paints for anything outdoors. They are just more durable. A contractor friend of mine said to use Thompson Water Seal (they make a variety for Masonry) it you want to clear coat it. I don't think my mom ever put anything on there, so it's still holding up without a finish.

@HoneyBadgerWoodWorks
@HoneyBadgerWoodWorks 3 года назад
That sounds reasonable. It's more expensive but for outdoor pieces I spend the extra money on UV resistant paints and clear coats. Nothing outside will last forever, but it does help with longevity.

I wish you'd have shown the tools you used for carving the features into the cement. I am going to try and repair a garden statue that fell apart into several pieces. The intricate design restoration is what concerns me - we'll see how it goes. Nice, instructional video.
@HoneyBadgerWoodWorks
@HoneyBadgerWoodWorks 6 лет назад
They aren't specialized tools, it is a cheap set of clay/sculpture tools I have had for years. You can get something similar on Amazon for like 10.00. The one I ended up utilizing the most was a wooden clay tool with a pointed and tapered end, similar to a thick knife blade. Something like that you can make out of a scrap piece of wood.
