How to fix/use a broken aerosol can 

Thank you so much! You’re a genius! I’m laughing right now because I’m thinking, only a young, frugal mom would not dream of wasting a big bottle of disinfectant spray until she had exhausted every effort within her power to salvage it, but yet not overthink it! Because that’s what moms do! 👍🏻

I just did exactly like you said, pulled something off the shelf and dropped a brand new 19oz bottle of Lysol which cost about $8.00! I was disgusted to waste the product, and also how do you recycle that? WELL LADY YOU ARE A MIRACLE IN MY LIFE! THANK YOU IT WORKS!!!! SHARING!

Great way to get stuff out of the busted can. You can use the red tube off a can of WD40 or some such to extend the broken tube and put another spray tip on it.... Please God when you do decide to do it your way, do it outside in good ventilation, and not anywhere near open flame, like a gas stove or water heater pilot light. The propellants used in spray cans are not good to breathe and most are highly flammable.

Be careful discharging a aerosol can in a confined space. You definitely don’t want to do that around an ignition source, either. Otherwise it was a useful trick.

I did this today with Lysol and while I did not get all out only a small amount was left I was able salvage a cup of it and put in a sprayer bottle. It was tedious and all but well worth it!

Thanks soo much. I was able to get Reddi Wip from a can with a broken nozzle :) I used a paperclip 📎 that allowed me to give just the right amount of twist. The wip came out with a strong force - yay 😃.

That’s funny, the same cap on the same exact disinfectant spray came off on mine too! Lol

twice my two lysols have done this...where if they fall the nozzles immediately break off or detach ...they seem to do so in the same way. Cheap nozzles without the cap barrier that other Lysols have. REdic and thank you for your advice.

I fixed my broken shampoo bottle I poured it in an empty conditioner bottle 😂😂

hope this works. i broke the nozzle off a $17 bottle of tri-flow lubricant for my bike chain

I couldn't figure out the pin you were using so I just drilled two holes near the top of the nozzle of the can. These vented the liquid and I was able to pour it out.

This worked great... most hassle free method I've stumbled on too, thanks.

Great idea, it gets the product out of the can but doesn't make the can usable though. I have a product that will evaporate very quickly and might attack the spray bottle depending of the type of plastic it's made out of so this is a no go for me.

I know this was posted awhile back ago,, However, I just came to need to find out how to fix a broken sprayer!! Thank you very much b/c I definitely held my full Disinfectant spray after the plastic tubing broken down!! And this was great info!! Going try it after dinner! The using "other caps" definitely does not work either

Also safety note: Test to make sure the bottle you are dumping the stuff into will not melt from the stuff your are spraying. For example break cleaner may not work with this idea, and do this outside.

I'm gonna try this because I have nerve damage in my fingers & drop everything. Lysol & My bug spray. Mosquitos LOVE ME! Right now I've got 7 bottles of off & Lysol that are halfway full that quit spraying. I can't afford to replace even generic brands. Wish me luck

Repressurize the can with a compressor. Return the can get a new one. Contact the manufacturer tell them not to sell crap.

Omg just yesterday I broke my dry shampoo brand New!! That was my first and last time I used it. I also tried looking everywhere online. I even tried gorilla glueing the broken part but didn’t work. I think I’m just going to have to do this. Or try to glue it again but thanks for tip

I'm trying this on my mousse bottle but no matter how I stick in the bobby pin it doesn't stick in. It seems like there is no opening. I feel like I still have half left and it seems a waste if I can’t get it out. Help.

Doing this indoors is very dangerous because of the flumes being trapped in one confined space. And using a pin takes forever to release the cleaning fluid if you’re lucky to get it out. A better solution may be to take the aerosol can outside, wearing a face mask/gloves, and carefully puncture a hole to let out the toxins in an open area. Do not do this near a flame source. And once puncture a hole, flee the scene for a bit and let the can fully decompress before pouring the liquid into a spray bottle. This way it is much faster, and you will get all of the fluid without poisoning yourself.

Please don’t manipulate an aerosol can. PLEASE. I am in the industry and this is so so so unsafe if you aren’t properly trained. It’s essentially a small bomb. The valve has broken off/snapped and I really just think you should be throwing it out and not manipulating. Because one day, something might go wrong (accidentally piercing the can ect) and the can will explode. It is pressurised. There is a reason all aerosols have a warning on the label saying do not manipulate.

Long story short: Take off the top of nozzle. Spray into container with unbroken nozzle.
