My Wii remote was gradually failing until one day it no longer turned on. To me, that was a clear indication of corrosion in the battery compartment. I followed your instructions (and sure enough found green stuff behind the contact plate), and had the remote working again in less than 10 minutes. THANK YOU!!!!!
same thing happened with mine. seeing this made me more hopeful that this will help my wiimote with corrosion to work again. Hope it works since it’s a wiimote from my original Wii from over a decade ago
Bro! YOUR A LIFE SAVER!!!! my wiimote hasn't been working an almost over a year!! but after following this simple tutorial it's up and working again!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! now i can play finish super mario galaxy 1 and 2! YOU JUST EARNED A SUB!
PSA: don't leave batteries inside any type of remote, when batteries sit in unused devices for long periods, hydrogen can build up in the battery cell until the pressure causes the battery's insulating seals to breach.
Yeah I accidentally ate my Xbox controller and after I got it back it was pretty corroded, but that’s okay because my friend is borrowing it for the weekend, he won’t mind.
@@Ruitzuki it depends how much damage the acid caused, if the board of controller is covered in too much acid is unfixable, but if you have luck by changing capacitors and cleaning it with electronic cleaner it should bring it back to life
Nice! I finally powered on my Wiimote for the first time in 10 years. There were no obvious signs of corrosion so I didn’t think this solution would work but it did. Thanks 😊 ❤️
My wii remote is 10 years old, only in the last week it started acting dumb. Spent 10 mins doing this and it worked, thanks a bunch, saved me a good few dollars there
Thank you so much!!! I thought my Zelda Wii controller was done for but I followed this and it worked again. Thank you so much I’m so full with happiness!!
But what if we Clean with MBC like Isopropyl alcohol Instead of Vinegar, i think its work Because i Have Isopropyl alcohol not have Vinegar. please answer
Thanks for the tutorial. Me and my partner like to get drunk and play Mario kart but the remote suddenly stopped working. Your video helped us a lot and we got to learn something cool
Thank you! I've been playing TLoZ Skyward Sword, which requires the use of a Motion Plus remote to play; the game is almost entirely comprised of dexterity in remote motion-based tasks. Lots of shaking and wiggling, which would knock me out of the action and into the lost connection screen, unable to resume play. Sometimes it would work after a brief break, sometimes it would give me no trouble at all. Until today... no lights, no reset button success, no flashing, nothing. This fixed my issue and saved me time and money tracking down a functioning Motion Plus remote! Thank you a million! ❤
Thank you for sharing your knowledge! It’s great to know that I may find Wii remotes at my local thrift store 😍 & what to do if they don’t work! I never would’ve thought to remove that piece & soak it in vinegar to dissolve the corrosion! Thanks again! 😊
Watching this at 2 am because somehow my wiimote started to blink like for 2 seconds and sometime not turn on at all. Getting some vinegar tomorrow because this is looking like the fix I was looking for.
Hey , Just Had A doubt whether i can replace the springs. My remote is damaged pretty bad and the springs from both ends have corroded off. Can I fix em ?
I acquired a tv with a rca port so i dusted off my wii. One remote worked fine with nee batteries. The other showed no action at all. I looked for corrosion.. there was none, but i had vwhite vinegar. And tools so i did it despite tje fact i knew it was a waste of time . There were no bubbles. M. And as certain as i was it wouldn't fix it. It did. Mad props. Thanx
How the hell do you get the piece out? Been trying for half an hour and I just can't understand where you push/in which direction. Can you clarify which direction I move it and where I put it? I don't get it at all.
I’m guessing it’s the same with the other side, you gust have to take the back off? Also, does apple cider vinegar work or does it have to be white vinegar
My guy... Thank you so much I had this remote sitting there since 2014 which wasn't working until I watch your video...good work bro I just subscribed 💯💯
My wii remote doesnt have the top battery plate. I have no idea where it went. Is there anyway to have it work without it or do i have to go buy a new battery plate/remote?
gonna try this with my last controller that just stopped working, then if it works ill check all my other ones that have been sitting broken all these years. Thank you!!
hey man, thanks for the tutorial, I've seen that it worked for everyone. My controller doesn't work properly sometimes the battery goes for a little but then it turns off. I tried this method but my piece wasn't corroded, but I cleaned it anyway. My controller still doesn't work do you know what it could be? thanks
Thank you so much I found an old Wii and the remote didn’t work and I found your video to fix it and it works now it’s currently updating thank you so much
Question, so that thing you took out and put in the vinegar, if I can’t get that to work can I just replace it with a working one one from a separate wii remote?
@@thecollegepicker I know, it’s an extra one I don’t need, the one that’s broken is a cool color and it’s wii motion plus, so I’d rather have it than an older one
My battery terminal was so rusted and what not because of the corrosion that it fell apart the moment I touched it. I basically have some dust left of it now. Is there a way to buy some cheapo china stuff to replace those because I couldn't find any as nintendo used some really weird terminals on the wiimote.
@@thecollegepicker THANK YOU! You know what, it was the second set of contacts that is exposed after you take off the case!! A little dab of vinegar from a qtip and boom it powers on like new! You just got a new sub sir!
Bro thank you so much 😭 i was trying to go to my childhood but the remoted was legit so old and overworked and this worked in under 5 minutes preciate it
Corrosion prevents electrons from passing through to get the correct voltage from the battery. White vinegar neutralizes the acid damage, correct? If this step doesnt work the first time, do you try a second dip? Or hitting the rusted spots with isopropyl to help?
Whats the point of no return for battery corrosion just asking because i got a red wii from a charity shop for £3 and unfortunately the wiimote that came with it has both batterys inside Busted
@@thecollegepicker strange though that only the one set of contacts were corroded. Do you know why the ones attached to the circuit board don't corrode?
I lost this piece in my wii remote 🙃 Can i replace it or any way connect the batteries with something else (i tried and it has bad connection) Any help please 🙂💔
thank you for this! I was about to throw out both of my wii remotes, but found this and it worked. the first remote it took me about 30 minutes to dislodge the metal part, but the second remote took me 10 seconds plus a minute of searching for it after it shot up in the sky. the second remote still happens to have the removed metal part pop up ever so slightly during use, making the remote turn off about every 10 minutes or so during wii sports. I've made sure to put it in really securely too. anyone know how to solve that?
I bought a wii remote the other day and there are batteries in it but they are dead and stuck in the device are there any tips on how to remove them from the wii remote
