Problem solved by 2:40 - yes, indeed, it is installed! The error message is erroneous. Incidentally, if you want to stop Windows from downloading more annoying updates, you can set your connection as Metered in Wifi settings, and you can set Windows Update and Update Orchestrator to Manual start in Services. I am pleased to get the program back.
Wonderful, this worked for me. Thanks a lot! Various months trying to install Photo Gallery and Movie Maker on my Windows 10 without success, and now I have them. Even when the installation process gives you the error message, you can verify that the programs are actually installed (you can check them on the Windows start menu).
I have been rebuilding a desktop PC from a drive failure (had win7 on it) with a clean install of win10 on a new drive and trying to get all my programs back. The original win7 had this program and I have used it enough to become comfortable with it. I had the file for essentials I installed on my win10 laptop since the version there stinks but got a similar error trying to install on the PC. This video helped a lot and I see it looks like the program is actually there and works (at least it starts up, have not tried to use it).
Really helpful video of yours. Brilliant!!! I installed it on Windows11 (with error code, just as you described). But MovieMaker is installed and working perfectly.
Yo thanks bro. I've also been using live essentials for very long and since i don't really edit too much of my videos, mainly just trim them down I've relied on movie maker, and it performs pretty well. I haven't been able to use movie maker for like a year but now my whole problem is solved. Thanks I can actually get back into RU-vid now lol.
The hint with the language was GOLD! It did not install before and I even had English U.S. already added. But movie maker installation always ran into this error and did not install the program. It seems if you have this issue you will have to set the language to "English U. S." during the installation. It still gave out the error, but the movie maker was installed then. I would never have thought about a language setting issue while installing. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for making this video : ) I had this program on my old desktop computer and needed it to edit my RU-vid videos on my laptop. Thanks a lot : )
Yes it is already installed.. For safer side, I also added Eng (US) language... though the absence of this language was not causing any issue. Thanks for the video.. really very useful.
Nice one. Microsoft can certainly be trusted to annoy their customers. "Here's a great little photo editing suite, but we aren't going to give you the option to use it"
OMG it did installed and I was looking for a solution for like an hour. The rest of the tutorials where you have to download an "offline version" are viruses. Thank you for your video :)
Hi! Thank you for your help! Now the installation was successful! =) (even though it was already installed, like you said, but I reinstalled anyway) Take care!
Did you search for "Movie Maker" BEFORE installing the Essentials 2012? Sometimes if you search for a popular microsoft app it takes you to the store and maybe you can download it from the store itself. But if before a search revealed no results and only after this "failed" install searching for movie maker shows the app, then I guess this is how it works lol. I did it the same way but forgot to search before installing the Essentials.
Mi-ai salvat viata! :D). MERSI! In case you speak English (it seems your mother language is an east Eupean one), THANK YOU very much for the clarification that the app was actually inslalled, but made a full of us with this BS error stuff. It might be a premeditate BS, as my windows language is EnglishUS, as this wlsetup is. No language inconsistencies.

NO NO NO NO what you need to do is 1 SIMPLE thing an it works on Win 10!~ Download the UK English package in languages an then try an install Window Essentials 2012 and it will work, it worked for me after 10 failed attempts to try!~ Select Start > Settings > Time & language > Language & region. Open Language settings > Go to Preferred languages, select Add a language.
Mail does not work properly, it throws up 'assertion failed' errors when you try and send mail etc. Googled it and this error dates back nearly 10 years. This company is truly a bad joke. I wouldn't mind not being able to get this old mail client to work, if the new Windows 10 Mail 'app' wasn't such dog shit.
After a lot of googling I fixed it by uninstalling it (necessary step, reinstalling over it won't work, I tried), then installing the US language pack (I am in UK and only had UK English) and finally, disabling my internet, even though I was using the offline installer, this was also a necessary step. Then it installed properly without any errors, and Mail works 100%. Then I deleted the US lang pack and re-enabled the internet and am good to go. What a palaver.
