This vibrato exercise helped my vibrato and bending massively even though I only spent 5-10 minutes per day on it.

I'd say Marty Friedman, Jeff Loomis, and Brandon Ellis have some of my favorite vibrato. Very wild yet tasteful. Also if I may make a request could you maybe do a lesson metal rhythm playing? Stuff like maintaining stamina and endurance while playing rhythmically intense metal like thrash/death metal and all that. Maybe touch learning how to play stuff like that while avoiding injury and excess tension. Great lesson as always, Jon! Can't thank you enough for all the advice and knowledge you've given me recently! Sorry for the long comment! 😅

Haha yeah! Finally I clicked on the right video. That is actually awesome bro. And it's already improved my technique and sound after maybe 15-20 mins of pausing and practicing. 😊 I mean I've worked on my vibrato for years (or over the years rather) a fair bit and has private lessons, read books and articles, watched lots of different videos on here... and sure its improved but never really felt right or felt comfortable or sounded quite right. Even in time, start slow then faster, all I could do ok but still. But how you explained the thumb position and wrist movement, the finger positions and angle and way of grabbing and moving the other strings out of the wayand not using the finger to push etc.... THAT'S making all the difference and feels alot more professional! And the rest of the lesson really tied it in. Its still going to take some time to get used to it like its natural without thinking much but, i can tell itll get me there with every properly executed bend. The first finger bending im not 100% on the mo yet but ill comebback andvrewatch and il get it. Wow I typed so much, a sign of how pleased I am haha. Thanks brother. Youre a champion. 😊 Ps: I'm kinda annoyed i was never shown that way before though haha. And wonder what other little things like it i dont know im not doing or doing wrong that could make such a improvement? Gee its only my first video of yours but, if all your video's help that much, ill be a happy and generous camper! 😁

Nice anecdote at the beginning. Its crazy how difficult gaining information and knowledge used to be compared to now!

The most impressive thing about this is where you demonstrated bad vibrato pitch while maintaining good timing. It takes more skill to intentionally do that than it does to do it right.

Funny! Was watching some of your older videos and THIS happened every time: After hearing straight notes for minutes, you played just ONE note with vibrato/bending at the end, and it just shakes me to the core. Wanted to propose a video about vibrato, now we get this :D Great!

Hi Jon, to answer your question: my favorite vibrato is Robin Trower's. For bends, Marty Friedman cause they're so creative!

Marty is so unique! It's hard to even incorporate some of his ideas since it instantly sounds like him.

Thanks so much, great video and great advices :) The concept of 'the palm of the hand pushing towards the bottom of the neck' is awesome! I tried and suddenly everything seems to be easier! Today I'll go with Itzhak Perlman, Yngwie and Adrian Smith. I love those wide and controlled vibratos.

Great video! Phil tougas of first fragment or Brandon Ellis with the wide vibrato on nightbringers! What are your thoughts Jon?

Never heard Phil but Ellis has awesome and very recognisable vibrato. I love Yngwie’s and John Norums vibrato.

Do you have any thoughts about the scalloped neck/frets? Does it make any difference as far as vibrato is concerned?
@JonBjork
@JonBjork Год назад
Yes! Definitely easier since you get a better grip on the strings.
