Thanks for posting this Brian. I have had my system flushed twice in the last year and now it needs it again. Thanks to you, I feel confident in doing this myself. I may be close to needing a new core and I have been watching many YT videos on replacing that. But for now, I will try the flush. Thanks again.
Thanks I'm glad you posted this. I was thinking of doing this. You were the trail blazer. I'll follow on this one. My 2dr 2007 JK with 416k miles needs a flush thanks for info.
Great job. Do this to many of our taxi fleet cars. Just a heads up, the "clear" part of the hose coupling didn't need a clamp. No pressure there and it was tight enough on it's own. If it was loose on your black hose, sure... use a clamp. Very much appreciated. Love and blessings from Ontario Canada!
I have a 2011 JK sport with no heat on drivers side. Flushed the Core per video and now heat is great! Only adjustment I did was I only cut 1 heater hose the other hose I was able to disconnect from the thermostat housing. Thanks again for the video!!
I ran a simple water hose to the hoses going through the fire wall till I got clear water.... did the same to the radiator....especially with Dex cool on any GM or GMC truck that crap is stright garbage
Hey man, thanks for this video. I used your method to flush my heater core over the weekend. Did it for a couple hours in the cold (I live in FL but it’s been very cold the past few weeks) and the heat didn’t work. Turned out to be the blend door actuator arm, but now my heat works better than before because I flushed the core. Thanks!!
Im gonna attempt this in the morning- This video is a life saver- and I thank you! I have a question (s) though, The "top" hose is easy to get to, so no real reason to cut it-But, the "lower" hose Is more difficult to get to-can you see any reason why i couldn't install a "Flush and fill" kit on to that hose? then in the future use that to fully flush the system? This way Im making less cuts- I'm just a little afraid- Thanks again!
I am not sure how a flush and full kit works as far as controlling the direction of flow. But I wouldn’t be concerned about cutting the lines as long as you use good connectors.
Thanks for this video. Quick question….if you do a radiator flush and do multiple addition and drainage with distilled water, and you keep the heat running….wont that also flush the heater core? I’m confused as to why this specific flushing of the heater core is required. I thought a thorough radiator flush would also clear out the heater core. Thanks!!!
Do you need to flush the water out of the heater core before putting the hoses back on? Otherwise wouldn’t there be water left inside. Thus messing with the coolant/water ratio. Or is it so minimal that it wouldn’t matter?
I didn't I think once you fill it back up it will be fine. If you are really concerned, just add a little straight anti-freeze in addition to the 50/50. Of course, I'm a plumber, not an auto tech ;-)
I am not quite sure what you mean but if you install the in and out fittings on the heater lines that should isolate them from the rest of the system while you are flushing them.
