I have been fly fishing since I was 13 years old and went missing from the scene for about a year and a half and im just now starting back, this video is so helpful, you seem so humble and respectful and I appreciate that
This has got to be the best instructional video on fly casting on RU-vid right now!! I'm sure this will now help me 100% in my casting as a newcomer to fly fishing. Thanks for sharing👍👍
Im so amped right now ! I watched about 5-8 videos on here and still couldn't get a good cast. Just now I understood your instructions so well I decided to go outside my house in the dark and give it a shot. BOOM ! I was launching the fly a long ways. However I did break off and lose my fly because it got stuck in the pavement lmao. Oh well, still a great success. Leader got a little nicked up on the pavement as well. Totally worth this lesson of yours since it was a free video. Thanks TA
Great casting tuition video, 6 years old and still really helpful. I had a lesson a couple of weeks back and have had a couple of goes in the field since. Have my first solo fly session booked this evening! One thing I've noticed, coming from coarse fishing is that I'm used to following the hook with the rod tip and that kills a fly cast stone dead. Keep the tip pointing above the horizon and the lines shoots much easier!
As a midlife newbie, I have to say your video has been a pleasure to watch and I have learned more from this than the other confusing by others. Great teacher!
A brilliant instructional video on how to cast a fly correctly. I'm just taking fly fishing up again after many years of not doing it and I found it very useful...thanks !!
Great video! Thank you so much, by far one of the simplest and most reassuring videos on how to cast. I can't wait for the snow to melt and finally be able to get out on the water.
This is the best tutorial on casting i have ever seen only been fly fishing 6 weeks this sorted me out thank you so much rob you make it looks effortless and we all know it's not awesome casting rob thank you Derek
This was a great instructional video. I have seen many instructors on youtube, being that I've just began fly fishing, but the way you have explained things has made it very clear I have not been instructed thoroughly. Thanks a million Graeme for having Rob on your show.
Have to say this is one of the best casting instructional videos i have seen, good clear and easy to follow steps, nice one Rob and Totally Awesome Fishing.
I see a lot of people saying it and i'll be another, the instructions you're giving are great, i'm only starting fly fishing after years of trout fishing with weights or floats and all the other fishers i know only use weights or floats and the like so fly fishing is something i'm having to pick up on my own but watching this video it's clear to see what my mistakes have been such as moving my wrist and not letting enough line out for the rod to use as a weight, or the whipping sound i make. can't wait to get back out and try it after having watched this, i'm determined to learn it
This is one of the best and complete fly casting videos I have watched! The slow motion sections are especially helpful! Rob is an engaging and effective instructor!
Rob makes it look so easy, will get out on the field and put this into pratice on my newly aquired TAF inspired fly gear. Who takes up fly fishing for the first time at the age of 50 (me)DOH!! I hold you guys responsible for it. ;-)
I just bought a Martin kit yesterday to get started... it's been 1 and a half years since I learned to fly fish... and one and a half years since I've done it! I can't figure it out by the booklet and this video is helping a TON.
What a great video, & rob seems to be a great instructor. I've just bought my first fly outfit so just getting to grips with casting. I've got the basics but can see from this video that I need to be more disciplined with my arm movements. Thank you.
I really like your video. I'm a beginner and want to get my kids into fly fishing but don't know how to teach them. You have helped a lot! Thank you, from Kansas, USA
just been watching how to cast your fly line I have been fly fly fishing for about 20 years by watching this video it has help me straighten out some of the bad habits I have picked up over the years thanks
Been fly fishing for many years but dont go that often, so my casting is always suspect. Your video has really helped - especially your references to coarse fishing, which I grew up on- thanks!
Great video! I have tried fly fishing before and I did okay but not great. I had looked at other videos and SORT OF got the hang of it. This video explained it soooo much better and I can't wait to try it again!
I watched this video twice the night before my first ever fly fishing trip. Admittedly I was on a commercial pond but managed to hook into several fish, landing two rainbow. I would have done better with face to face tuition(which I can't afford) but, this really helped in getting me going so thank you.
With most of the bait competitions over with for a while at my club its time i learn to pick up a fly rod agaim after 4 years will defos take these tips into account
Thanks. All great explained, these small virtual hammer and shelve illustrations really helps :-). Hope to attend your course one day doing the summer. Brgds, Brian
Pleased it helped you. Its a bit like riding a bike, the more you do the easier it gets. Mind you Rob is a good instructor and that makes a huge difference.
