Nothin better than sight fishing in the shallows with a scud/shrimp pattern. Seeing a fish ambush your fly before the take is about as good as it gets.

Talking about rich food source lakes have you ever seen a large rainbow with small clams in it's stomach. I thought the were rocks.

Snails are a major food source for large Rainbows during the summer and winter months when insect hatches are slow or non-existent

Thanks guys as always. Question about the sinking lines you advised applies for mostly fishing from a boat with full sinking lines, but what about fishing from the bank? Many people here in the USA do bank fishing. I used once an intermediate fly line but was very uncomfortable often dragging into the mud. Pulling the line very fast is the only way to prevent from falling into the mud but give me little distance to fish. Thanks.😢

I would change over to a sink tip line when fishing from the banks. Still allows your fly to get down but keeps most of the line near the top and won’t snag 🤩👌

Maybe a stupid question. But with numerous lakes suffering, total winterkill. When the lake wks do the food sources ,shrip, damsels .dragons etc.Perish to the lack of oxygen. Thanks Brian

Good question; The reality is Fish require MUCH more oxygen to survive then insects, so not only do insects survive after a winter kill, they flourish. This is why any surviving fish and/or stocked fish grow quickly for a few years after a WK, as they essentially have an unlimited food source.
