Awesome, thanks! I've just harvested a bunch of nettle leaves for the first time. I barely made the season before the flowers came and I was so mad at myself because earlier I could've harvested bags and bags of the stuff without moving an inch. It grows so thick here in Ireland. I dehydrated the leaves and have been enjoying using them like spinach in homemade backpacking meals. I'm so glad to now know that I can use the seeds too!! And you're right, that is a BEAUTIFUL baby. Much love to you both!

I am convinced that man can live to 120 without sickness or disease if he is raised in the right environment and eats the proper wild edibles. But the problem is pollution is everywhere except maybe in a few cold regions of the world but those places do not have the wild edibles.

Started growing them last year after not being able to find them. Strange because when I was a boy they were everywhere. Glad you pointed out the male vs female seed heads. Many do not. Throw away the male seed heads or as in your video, I see you used them in your fertilizer soup.

I REALLY loved your video. Very informative. Cept. How you damaged the nettle plant by cutting it. And taking all the seeds from the stalks and leaving none for them to grow more . Nor left any for the wild birds and animals that forage on those seeds themselves. Cutting the plant as you did damages it. You could have harvested some seeds from each plant . Even if theyre in your own garden, the birds were prolly looking forward to them. Just think people need to harvest reasonably. And share with the wild the fruits the plants give.

Seriously appreciate but do NOT pity nettles! On my farm Nettles are both incredibly invasive taking over expansive patches of yards & pastures as well as ditches & woods where nothing but wild critters can get to them. also their stings cause their share of suffering to humans all summer...i have mowed them weeded them & my horses have eatten them for 30 years yet i have NEVER come close to running OUT of nettles!!
@freedomunltd
@freedomunltd 10 месяцев назад
@@cyninshadows7041Nettles might be prolific in your environs but not anymore in other places, which I have noticed in my own locality in general. Also having so many nettles means that there must be many butterflies in your location, with nettles being vital for the caterpillars of some types of butterflies, to flourish so you’re lucky! Maybe you could offer some of those patches of nettles to foragers who will make good use of them..

Hi Lea. Thanks for your fantastic videos. We harvested some of these plants yesterday (thanks to you!) as we noticed their seeds. We took them this early as I feared the parks keepers would cut them back. Can we use the leaves for tea? I'm not sure if the flowering occurred or not. 😊

No wonder I have never seen any seeds in my stinging nettle, and my moms plant has lots of seeds, which I collect some of her seeds.funny thing is that we bought our plants in the same place, but they didn't mention anything about male and female plants. I will be planting some of my moms stalks so I can have both.

Hi just found your channel and love it! I have a bit of a silly question probably. Do I need to worry about fox’s peeing on the seeds or no? Because I know when picking berries to only pick ones high up - do I need to worry for picking these seeds near foxes?
@WoodlandClassroom
@WoodlandClassroom 8 месяцев назад
I would just use common sense here. Pick seeds which are not directly on any path or through way for animals. If they look damaged or sodden, avoid those. You can always wash them to be extra sure but do dry them out fully before storing them otherwise they will go mouldy.
